QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA RACE CLUB – SATURDAY 18TH JULY 2020 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD (SAND) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B. CookeStewards –R. Hitchener, B. McErleanClerk of Scales – B. McErlean Judge – M. Moody Veterinarian – Dr. C. Johnstone Starter – D. Kerwick Swab Official – H. Lewindon GENERAL As jockey Z. White was unable to attend the meeting due to personal reasons, replacements were made as per the stewards summary. Race1: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900m The start was delayed when COLLECTION refused to load; COLLECTION was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 11:45am. Stewards ordered that all monies in COLLECTION be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 4 cents in the dollar for the win #10 5 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #10 7 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place (co-dead heat) #35 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place (co-dead heat) #5 COLLECTION – Stewards permitted Jockey S. Sweedman to ride 0.5kg overweight due to no other suitable rider being available. GROOVY CAT- Laid in throughout PERSAGA- Began awkwardly and lost ground PUNJABI SAVITAR- Began awkwardly ENRAGED- Laid out under pressure in the home straight GENERAL MO- Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. BEAUTIFUL CRAZY – As Apprentice K. Patch was unable to claim her full allowance, she was replaced. Replacements as per steward’s summary. Apprentice Patch was subsequently fined $100 under AR.143(14)(a) Race 2: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE- 900m The start was delayed to allow the running of an interstate event The start of this event was further delayed when BEAN BAG proved difficult to load. Trainer P. Webster was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding. GREAT BRAVE- Stewards permitted Apprentice K. Patch to ride when only claiming 1.5kg of her 3kg allowance due to no other suitable rider being available. Apprentice Patch was subsequently fined $200 under AR.143(14)(a). RAINGING RICHES- Began awkwardly and lost ground. HAIRY LOVER – Jumped in the air at the start. PEPPER POP - Began awkwardly. Following the event Jockey J. King was assesses by the Queensland Ambulance Officials after complaining of discomfort in his left rib cage and abdominal area. Jockey King was subsequently transported to hospital. Replacements as per stewards summary. Race 3: BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1640m GUD ONYA – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout the middle stages GEISSLER – Began awkwardly. MISHANI CENTURION – Raced with its head in the air whist being restrained for short distance passing the winning post on the first occasion. FOXLEIGH – When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey P. Randall advised that in his opinion the mare failed to travel throughout the event proving difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities MASTER OF THE TURF – Raced three wide without cover throughout the middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in then home straight. PAT’S GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover from the 1300m Race 4: BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1000m The start of this event was delayed when JAZZY’S ANGEL lost a near hind plate in the preliminary and as a result had to be attended to by the farrier behind the barriers. JENNIFER MAGIC – Blundered shortly after the start dislodging its rider. Following the event broke through the outside running rail at the 1200m sustaining lacerations to the head and the near fore cannon bone which required treatment by the local veterinary surgeon. Trainer P. Webster was advised the filly will require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to race. Following the event Jockey H. Richardson complained of discomfort to her right knee and after being assessed by Queensland Ambulance Officials was stood down for the remainder of the meeting. Replacements as per stewards summary. IL BANDITO – When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance, Apprentice K. Patch could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have exhibited a poor post-race recovery. TROECANARGIE MAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Improved into heels approaching the 850m and was forced to restrain for a short distance. CHOICE SON – Fractious in barriers. FOXY BELLA – Severely hampered, being forced wider on the track by JENNIFER MAGIC rounding the home turn and as result was forced to restrain and shift in across heels to obtain clear running. Race 5: RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP- 900m MISS MOSS – Declared a late scratching at 12:30pm on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to the head while being transported to the course. EDGEROI MITZ – Bumped by another runner upon jumping. COOL CHAOS – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside. BELLA’S BROTHER – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. SHOT AT THE REWARD – Bled both nostrils for the second time. Trainer M. Johnstone was advised the gelding will be barred from racing indefinitely. SO STUNNING – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 350m and was forced to restrain for a short distance. SEDUCTION – Began awkwardly. Race 6: OPEN HANDICAP – 1200m FAB’S COWBOY – Inclined to hang in throughout. SPLITZ – When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey P. Randall advised that in his opinion the gelding raced flat throughout failing to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. GENDEBIEN – As Apprentice K. Patch was unable to claim her full allowance, she was replaced. Replacement as per stewards summary. Apprentice K. Patch was subsequently fined $100 under AR.143(14)(a). Began awkwardly. THE CONSIGLIERE – Slow into stride. Raced five wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages. MALIBU AFFAIR – Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 7: BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200m BOLD ZIP – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside. . WRITTEN GUARANTEE – Bumped by another runner to the inside upon and as a result shifted out placing SONA DANCER in restricted room. SONA DANCER – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. WHISKEY APPLE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 50m and as a result was forced to momentarily restrain and lost ground. PATRICK’S ME MATE – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages placing another runner to the inside in restricted room. ROCK ME HUSSEY – When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance Jockey G. Steele advised that in her opinion after settling into a position further back than anticipated the gelding resented the kick back throughout and as result failed to respond to hard riding. A. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-fore leg. Trainer C. Rogers was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to race.
