QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMEBER 2020 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – SAND GOOD 3RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L. CarvossoStewards – B. McErleanClerk of Scales – B. McErleanJudge – ClubVeterinarian – W. NasonStarter – S. Crouchly GENERAL Race1: ROMA GASS SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE -1000m HIS LATEST FLAME- Jumped outwards, then at the 950m appeared to attempt to jump a discoloured section of sand dislodging jockey M. Schrapel. In doing so HIS LATEST FLAME catastrophically injured her near side shoulder and was subsequently humanely euthanised by the veterinarian. Jockey M. Schrapel was stood down from the remainder of the meeting on medical advice. LADY MAGIC- Slow to begin. Was inconvenienced when manoeuvred by Jockey S. Sweedman to avoid contacting a fallen rider. Race 2: BRANDT’S ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP- 1000m D’GREAT BEAUTY was declared a late scratching at 8:00am as there was no available rider. PUMP ACTION was declared a late scratching at 12:40pm as there was no available rider to replace M. Schrapel who was injured in the previous event. CYCLONE KAYCEE – Hung in for the majority. DENMAN QUALITY- Hung out rounding the 700m turn. BELLA’S BROTHER- Jockey S. Sweedman was questioned in regard to his election to ride wide when approaching and rounding the home turn. S. Sweedman explained that he was of the opinion that the inside section of the track was inferior going and therefore he elected to shift wider to avoid it. Race 3: ROMA VET CLINIC OPEN HANDICAP- 1000m No racing incidents. Race 4: COCA COLA AMATIL QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICA- 1200m ON THE BOSSA NOVA- Slow to begin. IM FAVULOUS- Raced wide in the early and middle stages. THIRD ROCK- Laid in over the concluding stages. MY COUSIN BOSSY- Upon returning the scale Jockey J. Rudd reported that on jumping his saddle shifted back causing his mount to buck slightly and was disadvantaged throughout. Race 5: MARANDA REGIONAL COUNCIL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP- 1640m GREAT SHINE- Upon returning to scale Jockey J. Rudd advised that his mount raced poorly throughout however he felt there was nothing amiss with the mares action. PAT’S GIRL- Raced wide when making the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion. DIVINE MISS BOOM- Shifted wider in the home straight. BARBERANCE- Raced disappointingly throughout. Trainer J. Baker advised he was considering retiring the gelding.
