QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA TURF CLUB CLUB ROMA – SUNDAY 24th July 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D LaneStewards – C WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – T CantlayVeterinarian/Sample Collection Official – T KirbyStarter – D Kerwick GENERAL Following the abandonment of the Roma Turf Club meeting 23rd July 2022, Apprentice S Champkin and Apprentice E Lang and Jockey S Sweedman were not in attendance at the rescheduled Roma Turf Club meeting 24th July 2022. Rider changes were made as per the Stewards race day summary. Race 1: KIMLINS CAMPING WORLD AND CAFÉ BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 metres HANGRY – Jockey T Banks was permitted to ride the gelding 1kg over the allocated weight. Raced wide for the majority. ESKDALE GIRL – Stood flat footed as the start was effected losing considerable ground. Trainer R Coveney was advised that the mare would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to its next start. Trainer R Coveney advised that he would now consider retiring the mare from racing. MIRALIE – Shifted out on jumping bumping with PRINCE PLANET. PRINCE PLANET – Shifted in on jumping bumping with MIRALIE. Raced wide rounding the home turn. MORE THAN LIKELY – Shifted in near the 650m resulting in LUCKY ENUFF having to be momentarily restrained. Jockey H Richardson was advised to exercise greater under similar circumstances. ARATULA – Shifted out marginally near 650m resulting in LUCKY ENUFF having to be momentarily restrained. Jockey S Rogers was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: QLD COUNTRY MEATS/WEST TECH SYSTEMS CLASS B HANDICAP 900 metres MY BIG BROTHER – Jockey T Banks was permitted to ride the gelding 1kg over the allocated weight. LESLIE JAMES – Jockey D Baker was permitted to ride the gelding 1kg over its allocated weight. Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey D Baker was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR211(1) in that he returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight of the already permitted allowance. WAS MET – Shifted in on jumping bumping with RUSSMUSS. NEVROM LION – Shifted out on jumping bumping with RISING SPIRIT. RISING SPIRIT – Shifted wide rounding the home turn. Race 3: GJ GARDNER MAIDEN PLAET 1200 metres GOLD CHANCE – Was declared a late scratching at 11:16am after refusing to load. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on GOLD CHANCE be refunded in full and further, that deductions of 5 cents in the dollar win and 6 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket be applied to all successful wagers made on the event prior to the time of scratching. Trainer Mr G Baker was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to its next start. EMIRATE PRIDE – Jockey T Banks was permitted to ride the filly 1.5kg over its allocated weight. BOND GIRL – Jockey D Baker was permitted to ride the mare 1kg over its allocated weight. Slowly away and lost ground as a result. Trainer Mr G Schrader was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares barrier manners. CYCLONE BLACKIE – Slowly into stride. ROCKMYDOLLAR – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: ROMA HOME IMPROVEMENT QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 metres LET IT SIZZLE – Jockey D Baker was permitted to ride the mare 1.5kg over its allocated weight. ADVERSARY (NZ) – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. MOVING DAY – Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure in the home straight. CURIC – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: COMMONWEALTH HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1640 metres TANGO TINO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide rounding the home turn. RAPIDOLE (IRE) – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
