GENERAL
 
Due to an amount of excess water on the track from overnight rain an inspection of the racing surface was conducted by Stewards at 6.15am and again at 9.00am. The Club performed an amount of work on the racing surface to remove the excess water. After consultation with Jockeys, Trainers, Club Officials; Stewards agreed that the meeting should proceed with the following amendments to the starting times allowing the surface to dry out further- Race 1- 12.30pm, Race 2 -1.00pm, Race 3-1.30pm, Race 4- was amended to start at 3.05pm due to Jockey L Miller being injured enroute to the barriers and a subsequent delay as a result of having another ambulance attend course to convey him to Roma hospital. Race 5- 3.45pm, Race 6- 4.15pm, Race 7- 4.45pm.
 
Stewards approved the following weight variations for this meeting. Race 2 and Race 6- Jky J Rudd +.5kg, Race 3 and Race 5- Jky R Payne +.5kg.
 
 
Race 1: HALL CHADWICK QUEENSLAND OPEN PLATE 1000M
 
 
TOECANARGIE MAN- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
 
WALL STREET TYCOON- Was slow to begin.
 
MINTED- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
HARAMAIN- Began awkward and bumped TOECANARGIE MAN short after the start was affected. From the 500m raced wide with cover then raced extremely wide from the home turn for the remainder.
 
 
Race 2: MCINNES WILSON BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M
 
 
EARLY PLEA- Weakened from the 300m point, Stewards spoke with Trainer L Baker regarding the performance of his horse today. Mr Baker was disappointed with the run today but was of the opinion his horse may not have been suited by the track and the conditions. He did add that the horse had worked well leading up to today’s event.
 
ROGUE STAR- Tightened for room shortly after the start when ART BY CONCORDE began awkwardly and jumped in shortly after the start.
 
ART BY CONCORDE- Began awkwardly and tightened another runner shortly after the start. Stewards spoke with Jockey P Hamblin regarding the performance of the gelding. Jockey Hamblin stated that the run was good and he that he was caught wide. He added that it would improve over more ground. Stewards noted Jockey Hamblin’s comments.
 
MENINDEE- Began awkwardly then blundered after the start was affected, marginally laid out at that point and as a result ROGUE STAR was tightened for room.
 
STAZZANA- Began fairly, but failed to travel the early speed and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
BARTOS- Began awkwardly.
 
KING CONI- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Trainer Mr R Fraser was reprimanded by Stewards for his failure to notify a rider by the prescribed time. In determining penalty Stewards considered Mr Fraser’s forthright evidence and excellent record over many years of training.
 
Race 3:  MARANOA REGIONAL COUNCIL CLASS B HANDICAP 900M
 
 
CANDY DAWN- Slow to begin.
 
NORTHERN WATER-Began awkwardly inconveniencing another runner to the inside.
 
BEAN A BAD GIRL- Began awkwardly, then raced wide for the majority and approaching the 400m tended to hang out for some distance despite Appr Jockey O Kendall’s best efforts. Stewards advised Trainer W Baker a Warning would be issued on the horse for its racing manners.
 
STORMWATER- Laid out for a short distance in the home straight
 
POLLARD- Reared prior to the start being affected. Began okay but was tightened for room at the start when NORTHERN WATER began awkwardly and jumped in.
 
MY BIG BROTHER-Tended to over race in the early stages.
 
 
Race 4: ROYAL ON 99 QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M
 
 
VAHASH- Was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 3.02pm due to refusing to be loaded. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded less the following deductions applied to the following: Winner- SHOTGUN SONNY- W-6c, Pl-9c, 2nd Place BONNIE EV- 12c, 3rd Place BEYOND MARS- 21c.
 
SHOTGUN SONNY- Began awkwardly jumping out and bumping THE NIGHT TRAIN, then raced with its head in the air for a short distance after beginning. Over- raced during the early stages of the event.
 
THE NIGHT TRAIN- Bumped shortly after the start by another runner to its inside and lost some ground.
 
WITHOUT CHOICE- Was slow to begin.
 
LOW LEVEL FLYING- Over raced approaching the 1100m for a short distance.
 
DARCIE GIRL- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
INHISTIME- At 2.25pm it was declared a late scratching by Stewards due to the gelding dislodging its rider and poor pre-race manners. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded less the following deductions being applied to the following: Winner- SHOTGUN SONNY- W-0c, Pl-4c, 2nd Place BONNIE EV- 6c, 3rd Place BEYOND MARS- 9c. As the horse displayed poor pre-race manners and then dislodged its Jockey L Miller. Trainer C Storch was advised by Stewards that the horse would be required to undergo an official barrier trial prior to its next start. Jockey L Miller was advised that he would require a medical certificate prior to resuming race riding.
 
 
Race 5: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
 
HE IS LUCKY- Began awkwardly.
 
HUCKITTA- Began awkwardly and travelled wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
JUNGLELAND- Slow to begin.
 
MR BEGLEY- Dipped at the start and lost some ground.
 
NALSSENDORI- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
THE SABBATH- Was slow to begin.
 
BUBBLE BATH- Hung out during the early stages of the event for a short distance.
 
 
Race 6- WHITE CLAW OPEWN HANDICAP- 1640M
 
 
JOCHBERG- Leaving the 200m was inclined to lay in and did bump FORGED IN STONE which did lay out for a short distance at that point, and again bumped again when leaving the 50m point.
 
BADGE OF GAMENESS- Raced wide over the final stages of the event.
 
FORGED IN STONE- Laid out for a short distance at the 200m and was bumped by another runner at that point. Then was bumped again by the same runner leaving the 50m point.
 
ITSALLKAY- Slow to begin, raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
Race 7- EXPLORERS INN BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1640M
 
CARLIN TREND- Began awkwardly jumping in and inconveniencing the runner to the inside. As a result of carrying 67.5kgs a post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS- Began to weaken over the final stages of the event. Jockey Hamblin advised Stewards the horse may have been in need of the run and should strip fitter after this run. Post-Race Veterinary examination was carried out with no abnormalities being detected.
 
SUNSOUTGUNSOUT- Began awkwardly and jumped out bumping the runner to its inside. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
SIMPLE SAGA- Began awkwardly bumping BUDDY OLLIE shortly after the start then raced at the rear of the field for the majority. Jockey S Sweedman advised Stewards she was not happy in running and failed to go forward despite his best efforts. A Post-Race Veterinary examination was carried out with no abnormalities being detected. Trainer L Baker advised Stewards that the mare may not have been suited by the racing conditions today and she would be spelled from this point. Stewards noted Mr Baker’s comments.
 
CADOUIN- Stewards spoke with Trainer P Richardson regarding the performance of the horse. Mr Richardson stated he was happy with the run; it may not have been suited by the track conditions but had worked well and should improve at its next start. Stewards noted Mr Richardson’s explanation.
 
BUDDIE OLLIE- Began awkwardly then tightened for room between SIMPLE SAGA and CARLIN TREND which also began awkwardly.
 
CLAP CHAP- Bumped at the start when SUNSOUTGUNSOUT began awkwardly when jumping out. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
