QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA TURF CLUB SATUIRDAY 8TH APRIL 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD/ SAND RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards – W GlassClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – N EvansVeterinarian – Dr S MearaSwab Official- Dr Alyse WoodStarter – J Harvey SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT NOORAMA Picnic Races 1/4/2023 Race 3- Appr Jky A Graham was fined the sum of $400 by Stewards for her use of the whip on 13 occasions (8 more than permitted) prior to the 100m under the provision of AR 132(7)(a)(ii). In determining penalty stewards took into consideration her forthright evidence, her excellent record under this rule. Race 1: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 900 METRES HANGRY-Shortly after jumping made contact with OLD TOWN ROAD to the outside then drifted back to the tail of the field when beaten for speed. TORONASAURUS- Laid out and made contact with the inside running rail on two occasions at approximately the 200m point. OLD TOWN ROAD- Bumped shortly after the start when another runner ran outward. BARTOS- Began awkwardly jumping out and bumping OAKFIELD BLOSSOM. OAKFIELD BLOSSOM- Bumped by another runner at the start then raced wide for the majority of the event. RODIAN BULL- Raced wide for the majority. Race 2: HAHN SUPERDRY 3.5 QTIS CLASS 3 1200 METRE AVISION- Began awkwardly. CANDY DAWN- Raced at the rear of the field from the 600m point. COUNTRY BOYZ- Raced wide from the 700m for the majority of the event. MAHBABY- Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event. Failed to improve into the race despite the best efforts of the rider. Stewards spoke with Jky G Geran regarding the below market expectation performance. He stated that once the Mare had missed the start she may not have been suited by the racing conditions today. Stewards noted his comments. WHITE CHOCOLATE- Laid in under pressure from the 200m for a short distance before being corrected by the rider. On returning to scale a number of riders approached Stewards on returning to scale stating that two young men were on the course at approximately the 700m point during the running of the event as the horses were approaching approximately the 800m. The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards the opportunity to view the patrol film available and observe the incident. Stewards were of the opinion that no rider and their respective mounts were disadvantaged due to the matter and subsequently declared correct weight. Stewards spoke with Club officials requesting the inspect the area of concern and resolve the matter. RACE 3- ROYAL ON 99 MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRES JUNGLELAND- Raced wide for the majority of the event. RACE 4- WHITE CLAW OPEN PLATE 1000 METRES COAT OF ARMS- Laid in under pressure at the 100m point. MENINDEE- Raced wide for the majority of the event. PATENTED- Slow to begin. DEREFENCE- Shortly after the start appeared to react to a call from the rider of PARTNERS to the inside resulting in Jky M McGillivray having to take hold and turn the horse’s head out at that point and as a result then bumped MENINDEE on the hindquarters. PARTNERS- Jky B Richardson advised stewards that her mount shied away from DEFERENCE to its outside. Raced wide from the home turn for the remainder. Jky B Richardson dropped her whip at the 150m point and was able to finish the race off strongly riding hands and heels. RACE 5- XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1640 METRES GRATSIE- Blundered at the start. Appr Jky T Townsend advised stewards that when approaching the 800m her mount didn’t travel well and despite her urging to improve. It then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. On entering the home straight laid in for a short distance before being corrected by the rider and finished the race off strongly over the final stages.. BUDDIE OLLIE- Laid in during the early stages of the event. Lost ground from the 800m point despite the rider’s best efforts to improve into the race at that point. Stewards spoke with Appr Jky A Graham who stated her riding instructions were to be positive and be in the leading group. However, when she approached the 800m the horse seemed to back off and was not travelling well. Stewards noted her comments. Post-race veterinary examination failed to locate any abnormalities.
