Mr Mathews was fined $400.

GENERAL

Race 1: SUNSHINE COAST DAILY Maiden Handicap 1000 metres

When ISHOULDBESOLUCKY was unable to be loaded into the barriers and IMPERIUM LASS, after being loaded into the barriers became fractious and kicked out behind injuring its near hind leg, both runners were declared late scratching’s at 6:14pm.

On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on both ISHOULBSOLUCKY and IMPERIAL LASS be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:

1st MYSTIC AROMA – 3c win, 3c place

The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes following the delay from Race 1.

Prior to declaration of correct weight R Fradd, rider of third placegetter SUPER FAMOUS, lodged a protest against second placegetter PHANTOM SPIRIT (T Brooker), alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage Stewards found that after being brushed by PHANTOM SPIRIT which shifted out near the 300 metres SUPER FAMOUS was then taken in and bumped with PHANTOM SPIRIT when KING RAGNOR laid in a short distance later. After considering where the incident took place, the manner in which both horses finished the race off and the minimal degree of interference, Stewards dismissed the protest.

ALL STARS – Jumped out at the start and bumped PHANTOM SPIRIT.

BOLD HUNTER – Began awkwardly.

BLUEANT – Slow to begin.

PHANTOM SPIRIT – Bumped on jumping away. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Laid out and became awkwardly placed at heels near the 600 metres and continued to do so until entering the home straight.

Race 4: CONTRACT HYDRAULICS PTY LTD Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres

Following the declaration of correct weight and on review of the patrol footage, it was determined that FORCHE, which had been drawn in barrier eight, did in fact begin from barrier 11. Rider G Cartwright, Trainer A Simpson and Starter W Abbey were interviewed regarding this matter and after considering the evidence provided, particularly from rider G Cartwright, stewards determined that this error did not have a material effect on the horses performance.
G Cartwright, rider of FORCHE, was reprimanded under AR198(1) for failing to ensure that her horse occupied its allocated barrier as determined by the barrier draw. This incident was also brought to the attention of the Sunshine Coast Turf Club management and also Starter Mr W Abbey to ensure loading procedures are correctly followed to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.

DER SIEGER – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: COASTAL VEHICLE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres

ZEPPELIN – Slow to begin. Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages of the event and in the presence of senior rider J Bayliss, apprentice J Molloy advised that instructions were to race in a forward position and after crossing GLAMOUR FOX near the 1100 metres he steadied and raced in a one-wide position following a call from apprentice L Kilner, rider of COSMIC GOSSIP, which was racing to the inside. J Molloy added from that point he attempted to settle his mount and elected to remain in a one wide position after CROCKETT had established a significant lead on the main body of the field. Stewards advised apprentice Molloy that he had erred in not allowing ZEPPELIN stride forward after crossing GLAMOUR FOX near the 1100 metres and should not have steadied as this caused his mount to lose ground unnecessarily during the middle stages. However, given apprentice Molloy’s license status and relative inexperience, stewards took no further action other than to draw this ride to the attention of the Racing Queensland training department.

COSMIC GOSSIP – Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when crowded for room near the 800 metres.

GLAMOUR FOX – Restrained to avoid heels of ZEPPELIN near the 1100 metres.
