GENERAL

Following significant rainfall this meeting was transferred from the turf track to the synthetic track at 5:30am on 23rd February.

Due to the shift to the synthetic track the following race distances were amended:
Race 1: Now 1100m from 1200m
Race 2: Now 1100m from 1200m
Race 3: Now 1100m from 1200m

Trainer C Munce was fined $200 under LR68 for failing to scratch TIP TOES by the prescribed time from Race 2.

Following a report from the QRIC Integrity Investigation Team, MOUNTBATTEN was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8:33am.  An inquiry into this matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1100 metres

HELLO HANDSOME (NZ) – Bumped heavily at the start. Rider J Lloyd reported the horse did not appreciate the synthetic track conditions and would benefit from a step up in distance.

DOWN AND AROUND – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly bumping heavily with HELLO HANDSOME.

SCRIPT WRITER – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Passing the 400m was obliged to alter course to the inside of DOWN AND AROUND to improve.

TYSON'S FURY – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover.

GOOD BEAN – Lost near hind plate in running.

CHANCES WITH WOLVES – After becoming fractious in the tie up stalls and suffering an injury to the near hind leg, was declared a late scratching ay 12:47pm on veterinary advice. Trainer J Aitkenhead was advised CHANCES WITH WOLVES would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT MARCH Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1100 metres

COUNTRY SHOWGIRL – After being taken wider near the 800m then raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance rider J Byrne advised the horse did not travel comfortably in the early stages and was unable to muster the necessary speed to cross runners to the inside and consequently raced wide throughout which had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of COUNTRY SHOWGIRL. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ENTERPRISE ASUGA – Bumped and taken wider on the track near the 800m.

KERRISDALE – Shifted out near the 800m after being awkwardly placed at heels.

ROMAN QUEEN – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.

FEE – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right hind leg.

TEASAURA – Rider B Thompson was harmlessly dislodged on arrival behind the barriers. When the pace steadied near the 800m KERRISDALE was awkwardly placed at heels and was obliged to shift out and bumped with ENTERPRISE ASUGA resulting in COUNTRY SHOWGIRL being forced wider on the track.

Race 3: ST PATRICKS DAY FESTIVAL 19 MARCH Class 5 Handicap 1100 metres

The start was delayed as the veterinary surgeon was required to treat a horse from Race 2.

RAGING POLE – Held for clear running at the entrance to the home straight and obliged to shift to the inside to obtain clear running.

Race 4: TRAPEZE ARTIST - 1ST YEARLINGS SELLING 2022 QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden 1400 metres

BUIN ROAD – Left a one wide trailing position near the 1300m, shifted out and progressed forward to assume the lead from the 1200m.

REALAIDE – Reared at the start and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover from the 800m.

SEEMEINROME (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced at heels in the early stages and approaching the 900m shifted out when racing ungenerously taking LAIDE wider on the rack.

KIRELLA SHORES – Rider A Sewell was dislodged from the horse when proceeding to the barriers. On arrival at the barriers KIRELLA SHORES was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. When asked to comment on tactics adopted in the early stages of the event rider A Sewell advised instructions were to ride the horse with cover as KIRELLA SHORES can over-race if pressured early in its races and for this reason he did not pressure the horse in the early stages. After viewing the patrol footage, rider A Sewell agreed with Stewards he would have been better served to allow the horse to stride forward in the early stages rather than restrain at that point of the race.

LAIDE – Taken wider on the track approaching the 900m and was then obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event.

Race 5: TAB STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 9 JUNE Class 2 Handicap 1600 metres

VITESSE FRANCAIS – Approaching the 150m raced in restricted room to the inside of SPIRIT’S CHARM before shifting out across heels secure clear running.

Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS MARCH 21-22 Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres

SNAZZ 'N' CHARM – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed nasal discharge from both nostrils.

DAY DAY SUPREME – Began awkwardly.

FIGHTING MAD – Slow to begin.

NOBLE ARTIST – Raced wide throughout the event.

Race 7: TAB STRADBROKE SEASON BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1000 metres
