Handicap 900 metres

Due to the transfer of this meeting from the Gold Coast Apprentice J Cornish was unable to fulfill her engagement on BOARDIE due to later riding commitments at Toowoomba and was replaced by W Peel.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight a protest was lodged by J Huxtable, the rider of second placegetter JUST GETS BETTER, alleging interference from the 600m onwards against the winner MAJORELLE. After taking evidence from all parties, it was established that after passing the 600m MAJORELLE shifted out and made contact with JUST GETS BETTER on several occasions causing that horse to be forced wider, become unbalance and lose ground. Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered to JUST GETS BETTER was sufficient to warrant a reversal of the long head margin and therefore upheld the objections.

Just Gets Better – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
