QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNSHINE COAST POLY TRACK– SATURDAY 14TH MAY 2022 WEATHER – Rain TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – J Williamson, P ReardonClerk of Scales – K DalyJudge – N Boyle, S McMahonVeterinarian – Dr G CavanoughSwab Attendants – L Chaplin, A ChallenStarter – R Hanson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Race 1: SKYLINE RESTAURANT Maiden Plate 1800 metres Hangin' High – Tightened for room on jumping. Over-raced on heels near the 700m. Game Name – Tightened for room on jumping and had to be checked. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Memoire Parfait (NZ) – Tightened for room on jumping. Carrefour – On return to scale was found to have lost the near fore plate. Is That You Ethel – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. On return to scale was found to have lost the near fore plate. Marnie's Star – Raced wide throughout. Race 2: ROSS MACLEAN MND RESEARCH QTIS Two-Year-Old MaidenHandicap 900 metres Due to the transfer of this meeting from the Gold Coast Apprentice J Cornish was unable to fulfill her engagement on BOARDIE due to later riding commitments at Toowoomba and was replaced by W Peel.Prior to the declaration of correct weight a protest was lodged by J Huxtable, the rider of second placegetter JUST GETS BETTER, alleging interference from the 600m onwards against the winner MAJORELLE. After taking evidence from all parties, it was established that after passing the 600m MAJORELLE shifted out and made contact with JUST GETS BETTER on several occasions causing that horse to be forced wider, become unbalance and lose ground. Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered to JUST GETS BETTER was sufficient to warrant a reversal of the long head margin and therefore upheld the objections. Just Gets Better – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 3: HAULMARK TRAILERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1100 metres Iring – Change of tactics, to be ridden forward if circumstances permit and was ridden accordingly. Due to the change of venue stewards permitted the late addition of Blinkers. Unlikelyoccurrence – As R Wiggins was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider by S Thornton. R Wiggins was subsequently fined the sum of $100 under AR193(3). Stood-flatfooted and lost significant ground. Connections were advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to next start. Race 4: HONOURING WILLIAM & ELSIE MORGAN AQUIS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap SE 1200 metres Bruja – Tightened for room near the 200m. A Fancourt reported to stewards that the gelding was awkward in its action over the concluding stages. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. He's All Mingo – Slow to begin. Ready For Anything - On return to scale was found to have lost the near fore plate. Race 5: 4FRONT Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres Two Smokin Barrels – Slow to begin. Difficulty securing clear running from rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m. Angels Share - Slow to begin. Nishikori – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. Fast Thinker – S Cormack reported that his mount over-raced during the early stages and was disappointing over the concluding stages. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. San Pierre - On return to scale was found to have lost the off fore plate. Helsun - Slow to begin. Race 6: BUSINESS INSURANCE GROUP OPEN Handicap 1200 metres Freddie Fox Trot – Slow to begin. Muiron – Over-raced when restrained to obtain cover near the 850m. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 7: COOLPHASE COMMUNITY RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1800 metres Aiolos – Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and settle outside the lead passing the 900m. Nopain – T See reported that in his opinion his mount failed to handle the synthetic surface. Race 8: LUCKY STAR TAVERN Class 2 Plate 1300 metres Hard Reyva – Over-raced during the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to the lead. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
