GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 1- OCEANARIUM- M Butler +1kg.
Race 1- ROWLETT- M Hellyer +1kg.
Race 1- LILYVALE LIBERTY- C Robinson +1/2kg
Race 7- DANCING DOLLAR- L Cassidy + 1kg

Race 1: SECURE ACCESS I.T. Maiden Handicap 1800 metres

NO RIG TOO BIG- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 1700m was steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room.

BEAUTIFUL VISION- Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages.

BURN THE BOATS- Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.

LILIVALE LIBERTY- Slow to begin.

OCEANARIUM- Slow to begin.


Race 2: THE PUMP HOUSE QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1000 metres

BERNMARK- Steadied to avoid heels leaving the 800m.

BOLD STORM- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.

LADY AUSTEN- Held up rounding the home turn before being disappointed for a run near the 350m, before being forced to shift to the outside to secure clear running. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

LEXUS LADY- Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain the leading position near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight

MISS BONTASTIC- Approaching the 800m was tightened for room and lost its rightful running. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey G Cartwright was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that as the rider of YOURALLTHAAT she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SMASHINGPLATES (T Brooker) resulting in that runner being taken in onto MISS BONTASTIC which was tightened for room and checked. Jockey Cartwright’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days with the period of suspension to commence at midnight 31.05.22 and to expire at midnight 13.06.22.

SMASHINGPLATES- Slow to begin. Jockey T. Brooker was fined $200 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.


Race 3: FINCIERGE QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate 1000 metres

MORE MAX- Steadied when placed in restricted room leaving the 800m when MONT ROYAL (M Castle) shifted in when not completely clear. App. Castle the rider of MONT ROYAL was reprimanded as a result of this incident.


Race 4: THE COMPASS INSTITUTE QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres

DARE TO SHARE- Slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 600m and was forced to steady.

MENSA MAESTRO- After being crossed near the 800m commenced to race keenly and near the 700m was forced to steady from heels. Held up at the heels of a tiring runner in the early stages of the home straight.

MARTINI MOMENT- Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages.

EMPRESS ZOU- Began awkwardly.

GRACIEDE- Jockey B Ainsworth reported that in her opinion the filly failed to run out a strong 1000m, after travelling strongly during the middle stages.


Race 5: HIGGINS COATINGS PTY LTD BENCHMARK 58 Handicap2200 metres

BROCSON- Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover from approaching the 1200m.

HAYATE- Steadied to avoid heels near the 1700m.

RAINS APLENTY- Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to a position with cover passing the winning post on the first occasion.

Race 6: COASTAL STYLE CONSTRUCTIONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres

WHISTLING SPIRIT- When the pace of the race steadied passing the 800m improved onto heels and was steadied.

THORSBY- Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.

CASROCK- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight.

EKATERINA- When the pace of the race steadied passing the 800m improved onto heels and was checked.

BIG ROCAS- When the pace of the race steadied passing the 800m improved onto heels and was checked. Again forced to check after racing keenly and improving onto heels near the 600m.

JOHNNY DASH- When the pace of the race steadied passing the 800m improved onto heels and was steadied. Held up rounding the home turn and then raced greenly when securing clear running.


Race 7: MALENY TRICORP HOTEL Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres

VAN GOGH- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

ENDLESS MYSTERY- Slow to begin.

EMMY REGINA- After being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward by its rider to obtain the leading position passing the 1000m.

DANCING DOLLAR- Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.

CORONEL- Tightened for room at the start. Improved onto heels near the 250m and was forced to alter course to secure clear running.

EARN OUT- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

SHINAR- App. M Kennedy was permitted to claim only 1/2kg of her allowance. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.

Race 8: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres

BOFORS- Improved onto the heels of another runner near the 150m and as a result became held up for some distance.

POWER BOOM- Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

DAY PERFORMER- Began awkwardly losing ground.

KHUFU- Jockey B Thompson was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the colt which he advised failed to quicken in the home straight as he had expected when placed under pressure. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the colt to have an elevated heart rate.

MAGNUS BELLAGIO- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

PATMOS ISLAND- Hung out from the 800m until entering the home straight.

O'MISS BEHAVING- Began awkwardly losing ground. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.
