QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB POLY TRACK – FRIDAY 27th MAY 2022 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SYNTHETIC RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – R Hitchener, K Daly, C FedrickClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr D LauSwab Attendants – L Chaplin, A ChallenStarter – R Hanson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Steward approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 6- I AM WINKLES- M Powell +1/2kg.Race 6- SEA STITCH- B Loy +1/2kg. Race 1: HOT 91 Class 2 Plate 2000 metre D'CLONE – Slow to begin. DIAMOND BEANS – A post-race veterinary examination of the horse confirmed it had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer D Murphy was advised DIAMOND BEANS would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start. I PONDER – When the pace eased over-raced for a short distance near the 1400m. LET'S KARAKA DEEL – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Orman stated he was happy to lead adding the horse travelled comfortably throughout the race however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up. Trainer R Tyrell indicated LET’S KARAKA DEEL would now be retired, however if circumstances were to change the horse must trial satisfactorily and would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination, prior to its next race start. SEEFELD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance rider B Thompson advised the horse did not travel at any stage of the race and he was obliged to niggle SEEFIELD to hold a position throughout adding, that in his opinion, the horse was not comfortable racing on the synthetic surface. Race 2: INTEGRATED DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES QTIS Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden 1000 metres ALERT STATE – J Morris, rider of ALERT STATE, was fined $300 under AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. ARTIE PANTZ – Jumped out at the start and bumped MEDIA SCANDAL. BEITSOO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. EVANESCENT – Bumped at the start and taken outwards. Raced three wide with cover throughout. MEDIA SCANDAL – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide with cover throughout. NINE CARATS – Bumped on jumping when EVANESCENT was taken outwards by QUIRIN. PARISIAN LADY – Slow to begin. QUIRIN - Began awkwardly and jumped out bumping EVANESCENT. MISS WALLFLOWER – Slow to begin. Race 3: QEBS QTIS Two-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate1000 metres CHIKARA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider reported the horse felt short in action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CORFE CASTLE – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. JOHNNY DASH – Jumped in abruptly at the start and bumped ROGER EXPRESS. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when CHIKARA shifted out. JUSTSAY – Slow to begin. MISHANI MOBSTER – As J Morris was to be overweight, Stewards permitted B Thornton to ride the horse. J Morris was fined $100 under AR190(3). Jumped out at the start. Raced three wide throughout. READY AZZ EVA – Began awkwardly. ROGER EXPRESS – Blundered and lost ground at the start after being bumped by JOHNNY DASH which jumped in abruptly. Raced three wide throughout. Race 4: DWYER QUALITY HOMES QTIS Three-Year-Old MaidenHandicap 1100 metres BADGERS NUTS – Hung out rounding the 800m turn and shifted wider on the track. Trainer S Ritchie was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. PETER THE PIPER – Blundered on jumping. Laid out approaching the 800m turn resulting in KISS OF THE DAY being checked and RHAPALONG being taken wider on the track and losing ground. G Taylor, trainer of PETER THE PIPER, was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. SIR EAMONN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. YOUGETWHATYOUGET – Jumped out at the start. MONT ROYAL – Crowded on jumping KISS OF THE DAY – Tightened for room and had to be checked near the 800m. RHAPALONG – Taken wider and lost ground near the 800m. Raced wide throughout. FLYING JUSTICE - Jumped in at the start. Raced three wide throughout. Race 5: SUNSHINE MITRE 10 OAKS DAY CUP Fillies and MaresBENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400 metres LADY RINGO – Near the 1200m had to be steadied from the heels of MERSEYSIDE. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MELODEON – J Huxtable, rider of MELODEON, was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for using an action that raises the rider’s arm above shoulder height. ROSE OF DUPORTH – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Slow to begin. GIVEITALLALI – Blundered on jumping. MARCADA – Slow to begin. Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 800m. Race 6: CENTURY 21 LIFESTYLE CALOUNDRA Maiden Handicap 1100 metres On return to scale and after viewing the patrol footage a protest was lodged by M Butler, rider of second placegetter BEANHUGGED, against first past the post DAULAT TAIFUN AZIZ (B Thompson) alleging interference near the 250 metres. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing submissions from all parties Stewards found that near the 250m DAULAT TAIFUN AZIZ shifted out marginally under pressure however any inconvenience suffered by BEANHUGGED was not sufficient to have a bearing on the result of the event and the protest was dismissed. HOT OR NOT- Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8:00am. Trainer T Hurley was fined $300 under LR68(1) for failing to scratch HOT OR NOT by the prescribed time. In assessing penalty Stewards considered that Mr Hurley’s failure to scratch had cost another runner an opportunity to obtain a start. DAULAT TAIFUN AZIZ – Slow to begin STARTER – Change of tactics, to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. I AM WINKLES – Slow to begin. Had to steadied from heels near the 900m. Approaching the 300m improved into a narrow run to the inside of READY AZZ EVA and raced in restricted room for some distance before having to be checked. PERFECT LEGACY – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 200m. RIVERS LUCK – Leaving the 400m became awkwardly placed on heels before shifting out to obtain clear running near the 300m. BEANHUGGED – Slow to begin. M Butler, rider of BEANHUGGED, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 5th June up to and including midnight 18th June 2022 under AR132 for use of the whip in an excessive manner that being 20 occasions in totality. Race 7: CALOUNDRA CITY AUTOS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 5 minutes due to a protest hearing from Race 6. GREY DEFENCE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. APPLECROSS – Slow to begin. QUEEN SWEEPER – Slow to begin. Hung out badly throughout the event and was uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Bearing in mind the horse’s poor record in this regard trainer S Kendrick was advised QUEEN SWEEPER must trial satisfactorily on 3 occasions, specifically 2 official trials and one jump-out, prior to its next race start. HIGHLAND SON – After being slow to begin was unable to muster speed in the early stages. Inconvenienced and taken wider by QUEEN SWEEPER approaching the 600m. PERFECT AIM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ZUMIKON – Raced wide throughout the event. Race 8: COAST LIFE HOMES Class 4 Handicap 1100 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes due to the significant delay in the previous race. MORETHANNUMBERONE – Slow to begin. HOT SPRING GOLD – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. VISTABELLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer C Munce was advised VISTABELLE would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start. LEISA LOUISE – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Race 9: INTEGRALE HOMES Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to the significant delay in the previous race. ANARCHY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. FINSCEAL – After being slow to begin was shifted across heels to obtain a rearward position closer to the rails. LEAVE ME ALONG - Raced wide for the majority of the event. GENTLE PRINCE – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. MADAM CHA CHA - Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider reported the horse laid out from the 700m. S Lacy, rider of MADAM CHA CHA, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. GEOSTORM – Jumped out at the start. MARCHEKY BOY – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground, DAULAT KIITIBAZEBA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. SCOTTISH PRINCE - Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer P Duff explained the horse had been caught wide and over-raced at its most previous start. Stewards noted the explanation.
