DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA – Restrained from heels passing the 600m and continued to over-race for some distance thereafter. Rider M Hellyer reported the horse going forward would, in his opinion, benefit with a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DIWALI LIGHTS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. THE MONEY SPENDER – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Began awkwardly. BETTY WHITEGOLD – Slow to begin. Jockey M Murphy, rider of BETTY WHITEGOLD, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to 100m, 2 more than permitted. EASY ON THE EYES – Raced wide for the majority of the event. GRANDEUR ROSE – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Race 2: EQUITY CONCRETING SOLUTIONS Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres IRING – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 400m and was then obliged to shift out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CRYMENOTEARS – Rider B Thompson reported it was not his intention to race in a forward position however after being caught wide in the early stages he allowed the horse to progress to the lead near the 700m, adding CRYMENOTEARS was disappointing when placed under pressure at the entrance to the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MENSA MAESTRO – Began awkwardly. PURPLE DIAMOND – After beginning awkwardly was restrained shortly after to take up a rearward position closer to the rails. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CREDENZA – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event. Race 3: WATERWORTHS NURSERY Class 2 Handicap 1600 metres JAKKALBERRY FINN – Slow to begin. TEE AMICI – Slow to begin. BLAVATSKY – Rider M Wishart was of the opinion the horse failed to handle the synthetic racing surface. I AM WINKLES – Over-raced in the early stages. DACXI KABOOM – Rider M Butler reported DACXI KABOOM displayed abnormal breathing noises throughout the event and recommended to connections the horse may benefit with the addition of a tongue tie going forward. Trainer D Gafawas advised DACXI KABOOM would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory endoscopic report, prior to its next race or trial start. JUSTAWAY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider H Richardson reported she could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer G Richardson advised given the age of the horse, and in light of today’s disappointing performance, consideration would be given to the immediate racing future of JUSTAWAY. Race 4: WJM ACCOUNTANTS Maiden Handicap 1400 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes when MISS ELOHELAY proved difficult to load. TAVISTOCK SQUARE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. When asked to comment rider B Thompson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than TAVISTOCK SQUARE is bred to be better suited in races over a longer distance than that of today. RENAULT – Jumped in at the start. ALL ABOUT LEWIS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. VANBLITZEM – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. MISS ELOHELAY – Slow to begin. Took no competitive part for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed MISS ELOHELAY had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer B Jones was advised the horse would be stood down for a period of 3 months and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a Steward under AR79(4) prior to its next start. TORQUE ESPAGNA – Crowded on jumping between HEAR HEAR, which jumped out and RENAULT which jumped in. DEVINE FALLS – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. IDONO – Near the 1200m hung out across the heels of REDHEADS ROCK and had to be steadied. When asked to comment on the performance rider M Du Plessis advised the horse had a tendency to hang out at various stages of the event and could offer no other explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. HEAR HEAR – Jumped out at the start. Race 5: CALOUNDRA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres KAT CHINNA – Began awkwardly.Raced three wide for the majority of the event. HELL OF A PRINCE – Jumped out at start and bumped ASKEW. Near the 600m commenced to lay out and passing the 500m was checked when racing tightly to the inside of THE RATTLESNAKE which was inclined to lay in at that point. LOGOMANIA – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider L Tarrant reported the horse never travelled at any stage of the event and was disappointing. Trainer B Dais advised Stewards LOGOMANIA would now be leaving his stable. THE RATTLESNAKE – Inclined to lay in passing the 500m. Held up for clear running from the entrance to the home straight until a point near the 200m when obliged to shift out across heels to obtain clear running. RALPHIE – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. TROPICS – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. ASKEW – Bumped at the start. Race 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres BLUE SMARTIE – Declared a late scratching at 12:50pm due to a float breakdown.DYED PRETTY – When asked to comment on tactics adopted, rider M Wishart advised instructions were not to lead, and after beginning well and unable to obtain cover, was obliged to race wide throughout the event. OKAY OKAY – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. COURTINGROCK – Declared a late scratching at 12:50pm due to a float breakdown. KAKATIYA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FLYING KASS – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer K Afford was advised FLYING KASS would require a further barrier certificate. BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres CRAIGLEA ARION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer K Johnston was advised CRAIGLEA ARION would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. SHADOW OF TIME – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. THE STIFMEISTER – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. DARING BELLE – Crowded at the start and lost ground. EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – Rider M Butler reported the horse made an abnormal breathing noise throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealedan upper respiratory condition. Trainer D Batters wasadvised EXPENSIVE TO KEEP would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory endoscopic report, prior to its next race or trial start. TYCOON DANCER – Held up for clear running at the entrance to the home straight. Race 8: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres BANDIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CELTIC HARP – Slow to begin. DRATINI – Jumped in at the start. PHYSICALITY – Trainer N McCall was fined $200 under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the horse. When asked to comment on the performance rider M Powell reported the horse raced keenly in the early stages and was disappointing when placed under pressure from the 600m. RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. AGENT OF MAYHEM – Slow to begin.
