SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Sunshine Coast 21 October 2022 – Race 1.
Stable representative T Pollard advised that AMERICAN JAZZ had pulled up well following its disappointing performance and would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
GENERAL
 
Following significant rain falling overnight, an inspection of the course proper was undertaken by QRIC Stewards, Sunshine Coast Turf Club and Racing Queensland officials, and the decision was made to transfer the meeting to the synthetic poly track at 6am.
 
As Apprentice Cody Collis was indisposed, stewards permitted changes as per the race day summary.
 
Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by the trainers  L. White and B. Gorman regarding the late rider declarations for today’s meeting.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting:
Race 5. Wicked’n’ Lovin’it – C Bayliss - +1kg (55kg)
 
 
Race 1: TAB - DOWNLOAD THE APP QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
Mishani Eagle –Slow to begin.
 
Mishani Cienna – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Revitup Charlie – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
The Quickening - Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey S Collett advised that in her opinion the filly may not have handled the synthetic track surface but would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild tenderness to both fore legs. Trainer R Pereira reported that the filly would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
Race 2: PITCHERS HOSPITALITY SUPPLIES Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
Five Cherrys – Laid in during the early stages of the event. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of MY DOG DIESEL.
 
My Dog Diesel – Raced three wide. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Sooblond – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider T. Brooker reported that whilst being slow to begin, she was happy with how SOOBLOND travelled during the event and wasn’t disappointed with the mares’ finishing effort.
 
Zoumeteor – Declared a late scratching at 11.10am due to the transfer of today’s meeting to the synthetic track course. Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 pursuant to LR 68(1) for failing to scratch the colt by the prescribed time.
 
Kournikova – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: PITCHERS HOSPITALITY SUPPLIES Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
Luvyouanytime – Passing the 250m was disappointed for a run and was obliged to shift inwards. Rider W. Peel reported that she settled further back than anticipated after failing to muster early speed. She added that the gelding was one paced in its finishing efforts.
 
Quotant – Passing the 800m was hampered when contacted by SIMON SAYS.
 
A Deel Of Humour – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey L Allen was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Simon Says –Approaching the 800m laid in contacting QUOTANT.  Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
Enunciation – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 150m was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of OZARCH and as a result couldn’t be fully tested over the concluding stages.
 
Feeling Toffy – Slow to begin.
 
Inclusion - Hampered shortly after jumping.
 
Strategic Success – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainers representative P Strong was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
Surcote – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Roadtrip – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
Set Ablaze – Hampered shortly after jumping. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
Ozarch – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Race 5: BRJ ACCOUNTANTS & BUSINESS ADVISORS Class 4 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Shopping Esprit – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one nostril. Trainer S Andersen was advised that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
The Brumby – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.  
 
Wicked'n' Lovin'it – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Chapelis – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J Taylor was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 6: SOUTHEAST STAINLESS Class 1 Plate 1600 metres
 
Boom Storm – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Buon Acquisto (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Hypertension – Apprentice Y Lewis was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish.
 
Savileo – Held up leaving the 600m. Made the home turn awkwardly. Rider B. Thompson reported that he was unable to improve into the race passing the 600m after being caught racing to the inside of BOOM STORM. Rider Thompson further added that he was of the opinion the gelding would also appreciate an increase in distance at its next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
Race 7: SOUTHEAST STAINLESS Class 1 Plate 1600 metres
 
Legend I Am – Slow to begin. When giving ground on entering the home straight, had to be momentarily steadied when racing between MIDNIGHT RAMBLER and JAMESATELLI, both of which shifted ground. Rider T. Brooker reported that her saddle shifted back shortly after the start.
 
Midnight Rambler – Disappointed for a run shortly after entering the home straight and was unable to improve until approaching the 200m.
 
Regal Conqueror – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Sizzling River – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
That'll Be The Day – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider M Castle reported that the gelding may not have handled the synthetic track surface.
 
My Zebrinka – Began awkwardly.
 
Russian Romeo – Declared a late scratching at 11.10am after Trainer G. Cornish advised stewards the gelding had sustained a minor hoof injury prior to leaving his stable complex. Trainer G Cornish was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start.
