WEATHER: Overcast
TRACK RATING: Dead
Moveable rail out 7 metres from the 1800 to the 600 metres then 9 metres from the 600 to the winning post.

RACE 1
XXXX NEW YEAR REVIVAL HANDICAP 1000 metres

WAMDANCER was slow to begin.
Approaching the home turn SPECIAL WAY struck the running rail on two occasions.

RACE 2
XXXX CELEBRATION HANDICAP 1000 metres

As M. Carson had accepted two rides in the one event he fulfilled his engagement on TRIPLE BOURBON however was replaced on JUDE'S AFFAIR by G. Baker. M. Carson was fined the sum of $50.
Due to transport difficulties the following riders were unable to fulfil their engagements and were subsequently replaced as follows:
G. Baker JUDE'S AFFAIR S. Shield
A. Colless SAHARA SOUND J. Pollard.
L. Deguara FLOSS THE BOSS C. Kearney
CHESTER BAY was slow to begin.
REAL was tightened for room between SAHARA SOUND and GREENLINE GIRL both of which shifted ground.
Passing the 600 metres TE RANGATIRA had to be checked when tightened for room between SAHARA SOUND which shifted out slightly and CHESTER BAY which shifted in when racing greenly.
Near the 500 metres TE RANGATIRA had to be steadied off the heels of GOLD FIRE GIRL which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider apprentice R. Kerwin.
Passing the 200 metres SAHARA SOUND shifted out to improve and made contact with GOLDEN WARRIOR.

RACE 3
XXXX JANUARY HANDICAP 1600 metres

As G. Palmer was indisposed he was replaced on ROSE OF TOPAZ by K. Pope.
As M. Cahill was held up in traffic and unable to fulfil his engagement on FAIR KELLY he was replaced by J. Pollard.
TURTLE COVE which was slow to begin pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.
I'M KATIE pulled hard in the early stages of the event.

Race 3 Contd.
When the pace slackened passing the 800 metres CLEAR FINISH had to be steadied off the heels of FAIR KELLY.
In the straight G. Colless was restricted with the use of his whip as NOWEN was inclined to lay in.
A post race Veterinary examination of BLESSED TYCOON revealed the filly had received lacerations to the off hind during the event.

RACE 4
XXXX NEW YEAR HANDICAP 1600 metres

ZEAL. CERTOSA and KUMI brushed in jumping away.
Passing the 500 metres FORCE NAVARO had to be steadied off the heels of KUMI which shifted out to improved.
When tiring after passing the 200 metres CANDLEMAN shifted in momentarily tightening the running of CERTOSA.
Near the 100 metres REALITY'S DREAM shifted in abruptly away from KISLING.

RACE 5
XXXX NEW MILLENNIUM HANDICAP 1600 metres

Near the 1150 metres MR. GALVO which was tiring, had to be steadied off the heels of SHARP ROAD.
Near the 800 metres MORINGA'S FLAME improved up on to the heels of MR. GALVO and had to be steadied.

RACE 6
XXXX 2000 HANDICAP 1400 metres

RARE REVIEW, FORCED ASHORE, AGENT RED and AIR OF MYSTIQUE were all slow to begin.
INITIATIVES reared on jumping away.
A short distance later INITIATIVES had to be steadied off the heels of FORCED ASHORE which was taken in by AGENT RED.
Rounding the home turn AIR OF MYSTIQUE was tightened for room between HARMONY ROAD and FORCED ASHORE which improved up on to the heels of RARE REVIEW.
FORCED ASHORE was held up for a clear run in the straight.
At the 50 metres LADY SHERPA had to be steadied off the heels of SUN SCREEN which shifted out to improve.

RACE 7
XXXX SUMMER HANDICAP 1200 metres

TONTORE and ZELDA came together on jumping away.
After leaving the 800 metres HIS LEGACY was inclined to hang out and after leaving the 600 metres shifted out causing ZELDA to be tightened on to the hind quarters of ALGIE and had to be steadied. HIS LEGACY continued to hang out until after entering the straight.
A post race Veterinary examination of HIS LEGACY failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 8
XXXX HOLIDAY HANDICAP 1000 metres

As N. Jolly was indisposed he was replaced on JETTING by K. Pope.
QUINCE was a little slow to begin.
ACE RULE jumped away awkwardly and shifted out hampering LORD AND MASTER.
Leaving the 600 metres QUINCE was momentarily tightened for room by LORD AND MASTER which was taken in by MEDIEVAL MAESTRO.

RACE 9
CASTLEMAINE PERKINS HANDICAP 1000 metres

HIGH VALOUR jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 600 metres CAR CLUB shifted out taking FERZEPHA out on to SO EXCITED.





All winners plus BENGAL RASCAL (Race 1) were swabbed.
