Moveable rail out 7 metres for the entire circumference.

Jockey C.Whiteley was fined the sum of $100 under AR 8 (e) in that he failed to obey a direction by Stewards to remain on course to provide evidence at an inquiry.

RACE 1
ANGUS BRUT PREMIUM CURVEE HANDICAP 1000 metres

JESTICA, which was fractious in the barriers, reared as the gates were released and lost considerable ground as a result. Trainer T. Miller was advised a further barrier certificate must be obtained for JESTICA prior to its next race start.
SADARJI jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 500 metres TRIP TO TIARO had to be checked off the tiring CROWN MAID.
STAR CROSSER hung out making the home turn. Trainer M. Mair was advised a warning has been placed on STAR CROSSER with respect to its racing manners.

RACE 2
OXFORD LANDING ESTATE WINES HANDICAP 1000 metres

STAR GENT was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800 metres LEE CHEREE commenced to buck and lost ground abruptly. AWESOME FLASH and CHEZ VIVID were both hampered as a result of this incident.
Trainer Dan McCaul’s representative was advised that LEE CHEREE must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
Near the 800 metres STAR GENT improved up on to the heels of ST. BELLE C’AIR and had to be checked.
Near the 400 metres STAR GENT shifted out abruptly after improving up on to the heels of SOUL ‘N’ SPIRIT.

RACE 3
JANSZ SPARKLING OF TASMANIA HANDICAP 1800 metres

On return to scale a protest was lodged by apprentice P. Hammersley rider of 3rd placed STORMY BAY against BEAU REEF ridden by C. Reith being declared 2nd alleging interference over the concluding stages.
It was established that near the 50 metres STORMY BAY was accidentally struck on the head on two occasions by the whip of C. Reith rider of BEAU REEF as BEAU REEF shifted out under pressure. It was further established that just prior to the finishing line BEAU REEF made contact with STORMY BAY inconveniencing that gelding.
Under the circumstances Stewards upheld the objection and amended placings to read 14, 1, 5.
Approaching the 200 metres TELUSTRE shifted in under pressure and brushed HOT KEY.

RACE 4
PEWSEY VALE VINEYARD PLATE 1200 metres

SUNNY RAY was slow to begin.
Near the 800 metres PERFORM shifted out off the heels of SHOW GOLD and was then inclined to lay out for some distance.
Approaching the 200 metres WORSHIP was disappointed for a run between FLYING FEET and SMOKEY HALO.
SHOW GOLD was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 5
HEGGIES VINEYARD HANDICAP 1200 metres

Near the 500 metres CAPTAIN MALLORY shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of CENTUPLE. As a result of this incident DE KWILA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CAPTAIN MALLORY.
After passing the 200 metres RETSIL improved up on to the heels of MEAN WINE and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 150 metres CAPTAIN MALLORY was tightened for room between TWISTED which shifted in slightly and the tiring GAME DEFECTS which was taken out by KING CLAUDIUS. Jockey N. Jolly rider of KING CLAUDIUS was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
A post race Veterinary examination of KING CLAUDIUS revealed the gelding had pulled up in a distressed manner due to the heat.

RACE 6
YALUMBA WINES HANDICAP 1400 metres

No racing incidents.

RACE 7
LANGS 5 YEAR OLD SCOTCH WHISKEY HANDICAP 1000 metres

BEAUTY KINGDOM was slow to begin.
After passing the 400 metres KALUI STAR was inclined to lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of VATULELE.
Apprentice M. Rodd rider of IRISH BUNNY was charged with careless riding in that near the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OUR SILVER LINING taking that horse in on to ALWAYS THERE which struck the heels of OUR SILVER LINING and blundered. ALWAYS THERE then shifted in taking BEAUTY KINGDOM in on to MR. CENTERFOLD which struck the running rail and had to be checked.
Stewards acceded to a request from apprentice M. Rodd that the inquiry be adjourned until his Master Mr. B. Guy can be present.

RACE 8
COOPERS PREMIUM ALES HANDICAP 1400 metres

After being loaded KEA LEAH became very fractious and lashed out repeatedly. As a consequence that filly was declared a late scratching at 4.46pm acting on the advice of the Veterinary Surgeon.
DUVAINE which was in the adjoining stall was released and inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed to start.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on KEA LEAH were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 35c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 22c in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
Trainer Leonard Faber was advised a barrier test certificate must be obtained for KEA LEAH prior to its next race start.
After passing the 200 metres DUVAINE had to be steadied when tightened for room between PULL MY STRING and SPICE MARKET which shifted in abruptly.





All winners were swabbed.
