S.C.T.C. STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 02/11/03

PANEL: Mr D Hensler (Chairman), Mr G Ireland, Mr D Collingwood, Mr W Geggie.

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Good
Moveable rail out 3 metres for the entire circuit.

GENERAL: As apprentice M McDonald was to be overweight he was replaced on SAVANNAH BROOKE (race 1) by apprentice K Cunningham and on pitch black (Race 6) by apprentice C Spry. M McDonald was subsequently fined the sum of $300.

RACE 1: PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP - 1600M.

YOU DON'T LOVE ME jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1500 metres EUREKA MATILDA commenced to lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of HIGHPOWER MAN.

Rounding the first turn HIGHPOWER MAN commenced to race fiercely and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of SAVANNAH BROOKE which shifted in.

HIGHPOWER MAN continued to over race and was obliged to race wide throughout the early and middle stages.

Inside the 200 metres SAVANNAH BROOKE was inclined to lay in and blundered after striking the heels of TILES.

RACE 2: COCA-COLA HANDICAP - 1400M.

As D Griffin was indisposed through illness he was replaced on WATERFORD ROYALE by M Bennett.

After being slow to begin WE CAN'T SAY THAT had to be checked off the heels of EMERALD BEAUTY which shifted in after making contact with GOLDEN OSCAR as the gates opened.

KALINGA TOWN and EMERALD BEAUTY both raced fiercely in the early stages.

Leaving the 600 metres WE CAN'T SAY THAT was obliged to shift wider on the track to improve its position

Approaching the home turn PLATINUM HUSSY was held up for clear running.

IVOROSSO was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 3: YALLUMBA WINES PLATE - 1200M.

ROAR POWER and TONGALEE came together at the start.

Approaching the 900 metres SUR LE BLOND had to be steadied off the heels of JUST A GIGOLO.

Approaching the home turn LADY FLICK was held up behind the heels of CARATOLOGY.

Inside the 100metres CARATOLOGY became unbalanced after shifting out across the heels of LADY FLICK.

GO RORY GO was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 4: CALOUNDRA RSL HANDICAP - 1400M.

BENARKIN was slow to begin.

OUR EXCESS jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Leaving the 500 metres THE GREY TIGER had to be steadied off the heels of EAT 'N' RUN.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TODMAN AVENUE apprentice R Hurley stated that inside the 1000 metres the gelding failed to improve when asked to go forward and inside the final 200 metres TODMAN AVENUE felt amiss in its action and he eased the gelding down over the concluding stages.
A post race Veterinary examination of TODMAN AVENUE revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg.
Trainer G Newham was advised a Veterinary clearance must be obtained for TODMAN AVENUE prior to its next race start.

RACE 5: XXXX HANDICAP - 1000M.

Trainer R Ludwig was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for SUNDAE JESTER by the required time.

PARITA BEACH was slow to begin.

PERUGINE STAR and THRONE OF GOLD came together at the start.

GOLD TAURUS commenced to hang out leaving the 600 metres.

Trainer Jeff McCarter was advised that THRONE OF GOLD which suffered a bleeding attack, will now incur a mandatory three month ban from racing.





RACE 6: QUEENSLAND PINE COMPANY 'FURNITURE IN THE RAW' HANDICAP - 1200M.

No racing incidents.

RACE 7: CALOUNDRA CITY COUNCIL HANDICAP - 1300M.

Trainer Brian Wakefield was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for HELL FOR LEATHER by the required time.

ROYAL DREAMER and MISTER DE BALI came together at the start.

KID DE LAGO was slow to begin.

RACE 8: REED PROPERTY GROUP HANDICAP - 1600M.

Trainer John Wade was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for GABIETTE by the required time.

ANTONIA ROSE was slow to begin.

HONEST NED over raced in the early and middle stages.

REGAL ZANE and ELDWICK were both obliged to race wide throughout the event.



All winners plus THRONE OF GOLD (Race 5) were sent to be swabbed.
