Leaving the 1100m., VIXENS TRAIL, when shifting in to take up a position closer to the rail, had to be steadied off the heels of SUNNY PARADISE.

Leaving the 1000m., OVERTOTHREE commenced to overrace when being restrained off the heels of MOZAMBESI. OVERTOTHREE then shifted in when overracing and approaching the first turn hampered EUREKA MATILDA.

YOHOHO was obliged to race 3 wide in the early stages.

Leaving the 200m. until inside the 50m., OVERTOTHREE was impeded for clear running between YOHOHO, which shifted out slightly under pressure, and MOZAMBESI, which shifted in and away from SUNNY PARADISE.

MOZAMBESI lost its off hind plate in running.

A post race veterinary examination of OVERTOTHREE revealed that the gelding had been galloped on above the near hind hock and on the off hind cannon.

FINAL JOURNEY knuckled over at the start.

GROTON was slow to begin.

RACE 4: SUNCORP CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1600M.

KOZMINSKY was permitted to race without a tongue-tie in this event on the undertaking given by trainer N. Peterson's representative that the gelding had not worn this gear at its previous start. Following the event, stewards were able to establish that KOZMINSKY had indeed carried a tongue-tie at its previous start, and Mr Peterson, through his representative, was fined the sum of $100 for failing to race the horse in the advertised gear.

RISING SUCCESS was slow to begin.

INITIAL STAR jumped away awkwardly.

Leaving the 1200m., ESEMES commenced to overrace and had to be restrained off the heels of INITIALSTAR.

IN EXTREMIS was obliged to race 3 wide throughout the race.

RACE 5: HOT 91 CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1000M.

ABSTRACTED jumped inwards at the start and made heavy contact with LASSUSIE.

Leaving the 300m., ABSTRACTED had to be steadied off the heels of RAYMONDS REWARD.

Shortly after entering the straight, GALLANT HARRY was held up for clear running, and again for some distance leaving the 100m..

Approaching the 300m., GALLANT HARRY shifted out to improve, forcing RAYMONDS REWARD out on to ABSTRACTED, which as a result had to steady across the heels of STEPPING. D. Griffin, rider of GALLANT HARRY, was cautioned and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

Following the event, L. Deguara reported she felt LOOK AT HIM may be sore. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer D. Boyd was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for LOOK AT HIM before racing again.

RACE 7: CENTREPOINT APARTMENTS CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1400M.

NOT A PROBLEM was slow to begin.

When questioned regarding the performance of MEXICAN GEM, S. Katsidis stated he had been instructed to ride the horse back in the field, however the filly refused to settle, and inside the 1100m. when caught wide on the track, he allowed MEXICAN GEM to stride forward to take up a leading position. He further explained that rounding the first turn, MEXICAN GEM commenced to hang out and continued to do so when placed under pressure in the straight, which restricted his ability to fully test the horse. As a result of MEXICAN GEM hanging out under pressure, ZEANG was hampered at the 300m. and again inside the 200m.. Trainer L. Birchley was advised he must trial the filly to the stewards' satisfaction prior to racing again.
