Race 1: Greg Hunt OH&S Consultancy NMW H’cap - 1600m
1st – Riseupsinging 2nd – Davion 3rd – Cossante 4th – Mi Amici

Trainer B. Wakefield was fined $50 failing to present the Document of Description for DAVION.

REEF BONANZA (O. Turpin) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, BORED (M. Paget) shifted out, making contact with MISS SARAH JANE (A. Spinks). A short distance later, MISS SARAH JANE had to be steadied to avoid the heels off BORED, which shifted out. M. Paget, rider of BORED, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

MI AMICI (D. Nikolic) was held up in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 100m, MI AMICI shifted out and brushed MARHILL (M. Cahill).

ROLE OF NED (R. McMahon) and REEF BONANZA (O. Turpin) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of MARHILL revealed the gelding to have broken down in the near fore fetlock.

The veterinary surgeon also reported that BORED had been galloped on on the near hind leg and had severed the superficial flexor tendon in the leg.




Race 2: RCQ Sunshine Coast Classic QTIS 2yo H’cap - 1200m
1st – Arjuna 2nd – Tears’n’cheers 3rd – Upi Bay 4th – Audit

GOLDBOUGG (K. Wharton) and NIKOSI’S HAVEN (J. Taylor) brushed at the start.

SILVERN (J. Holder) and MY KIRRA (C. Grylls) also brushed on jumping away.

Shortly after the start, CAYMAN ISLANDS (Michael Palmer) commenced to race ungenerously and did so for the remainder of the race. Trainer G. Kennedy was advised that a warning would be placed on CAYMAN ISLANDS regarding its racing manners.

TEARS’N’CHEERS (G. Colless) had a tendency to overrace in the middle stages.

Near the 150m, NKOSI’S HAVEN (J. Taylor) was momentarily inconvenienced by CAYMAN ISLANDS , which shifted in when racing ungenerously.

SILVERN (J. Holder) and TEARS’N’CHEERS (G. Colless) raced wide throughout.

J. Holder, rider of SILVERN, accidentally dropped his whip near the 100m.

A post-race veterinary examination of CAYMAN ISLANDS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported MY KIRRA had blood in its mouth as a result of a loose tooth.


Race 3: Yalumba Wines CG&E Class 6 H’cap - 1400m
1st –Frosty 2nd – Secrets Untold 3rd – Moglich 4th – How Brave

Trainer T. Thomas was fined $100 for failing to present THAT’S BETTER on course by the prescribed time.

HOW BRAVE (R. McMahon) was tightened for room on jumping away between KEY TO SUCCESS (J. Jones) and THAT’S BETER (J. Byrne), which shifted in.

ON THE UP (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

MOGLICH (J. Holder) and SECRETS UNTOLD (S. Seamer) came together on jumping away.

Passing the 1100m, CAVALLO (C. Grylls) had to be steadied when tightened for room by FEELIN DANDY (B. Stewart), which shifted in. B. Stewart, rider of FEELIN DANDY, was reprimanded.

Approaching the 100m, KEY TO SUCCESS (J. Jones) was momentarily impeded when attempting a narrow run between THAT’S BETTER (J. Byrne) and PRINCE LIONHEART (M. Palmer).

CATCHIT (M. Radecker) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on FEELIN DANDY, jockey B. Stewart stated that, as is customary, he received no set instructions from trainer Mr P. Duff other than to ride the horse where it was comfortable. He added that after beginning only fairly he allowed the horse to settle where it was comfortable and he obtained a position worse than midfield, however with the tempo of today’s race the horse failed to finish the race off as he would have expected. Jockey Stewart further added that, in his opinion, the horse performed disappointingly. Trainer P. Duff stated he was surprised to see FEELIN DANDY settle as far back as it did, however was disappointed with the horse’s performance. The explanations were noted.

Apprentice M. Radecker was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on CATCHIT today, which saw the gelding settle further back in the field than anticipated. M. Radecker stated that her master, trainer P. Duff, issued no set instructions, however after beginning awkwardly, she was reluctant to bustle the horse early as CATCHIT has had a tendency to fire up and overrace. She further added that she was then obliged to race wide for the majority of the race. Trainer P. Duff confirmed he issued no set instructions and was disappointed with the horse’s performance. He further added that CATCHIT may not have recovered as well as he anticipated following its hard run at Eagle Farm on 9 June. Mr Duff also stated he would recommend to the connections that CATCHET have an ease up from racing. The explanations were noted. A post-race veterinary examination of CATCHIT failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 4: XXXX F&M H’cap - 1400m
1st – Lasoron 2nd – Joey Jo Jo 3rd – Our Jangles 4th - Seronote

STRAWBERRY SKY (S. Galloway) jumped inwards at the start and brushed LASORON (R. McMahon).

OUR JANGLES (J. Holder) was held up for clear running shortly after straightening, and near the 250m had to be steadied when it improved on to the heels of GUN BELLE (M. Palmer).

Near the 200m OUR JANGLES shifted out to improve and momentarily tightened the running of COUPOLETTE (M. Paget).

RASH PROMISE (J. Byrne) was unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.

R. McMahon, rider of LASORON, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 150m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NEPRO (A. Spinks), which was taken in onto the line of STRAWBERRY SKY (S. Galloway), which resulted in STRAWBERRY SKY having to be checked. R. McMahon was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight 2 July, and to expire at midnight, 13 July 2008.

NEPRO (A. Spinks), SERONOTE (D. Nikolic) and LITTLE IMP (M. Radecker) raced wide for the majority of the event.




Race 5: XXXX Sunshine Coast 3yo Guineas Plate – 1600m
1st – Sam’s Express 2nd – Save A Buck 3rd – Prima Nova 4th – Sommersea Drive

MORE ON THE TOE (S. Cormack) jumped outwards at the start and brushed CAT EYES (B. Pengelly).

SAVE THE BUCK (G. Colless) was tightened for room on jumping away between LASSIE MACTAVISH (M. Paget) and MANSTON (S. Seamer), which shifted in.

PRIMA NOVA (D. Nikolic) was slow to begin.

Near the 1000m, WITCHES CHASE (A. Spinks) had to be steadied off the heels of BLAZING NIGHT (C. Grylls) when the pace steadied and shifted out, making contact with CAT EYES (B. Pengelly), which in turn shifted out and bumped BIG SHOT (S. Scriven).

SOMMERSEA DRIVE (M. Cahill) raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

Passing the 400m, SHOWCITI (S. Baster) was momentarily placed in restricted room between WITCHES CHASE (A. Spinks) and CAT EYES, which shifted in slightly.

Near the 100m, PRIMA NOVA shifted out abruptly off the heels of SAM’S EXPERSS (G. Schofield) .

SOMMERSEA DRIVE, DIAMOND SAPPHIRE (J. Taylor), SAVE THE BUCK all raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 6: Reed Property Group Glasshouse H’cap - 1400m
1st – Pinnacles 2nd – Cocktail Supreme 3rd – Alverta 4th – Upilio

FOOLISH, which proved difficult to load, reared over and was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. As a result the saddle on FOOLISH needed to be attended to.

TROPICAL EXPRESS (J. Taylor) and NELLIE GOT THERE (S. Cormack) jumped away awkwardly.

ATAPI (J. Byrne) and MASAI PRIDE (R. McMahon) were slow to begin.

UPILIO (S. Seamer) had a tendency to overrace in the early stages.

Shortly after entering the straight, ATAPI had to be steadied when disappointed for a narrow run between BLOOD ‘N’ BONE (C. Spry), which shifted out slightly, and PINNACLES (D. Nikolic). ATAPI was then held up for clear running for a short distance.

Passing the 200m, NELLIE GOT THERE (S. Cormack) shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing IN REHEARSAL (D. Spriggs).

COCKTAIL SUPREME (D. Griffin), BLOOD ‘N’ BONE (C. Spry), ATAPI (J. Byrne) and PINNACLES (D. Nikolic) raced wide throughout.


Race 7: Pelican Motors Caloundra Cup - 2400m
1st – Fast Future 2nd – Scattergun 3rd – Synonym 4th – Tedriffic

Trainer S. Dwyer was advised that he must provide a barrier certificate for SANTI, which proved difficult to load.

Near the 1700m, the saddle on BALLACK shifted forward, placing jockey S. Baster at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

At the same stage, MODERN GLAMOUR (J. Holder) ran up on to the heels of KING LATARMISS (S. Scriven) and had to be checked.

Passing the 1600m, CEEJAY (S. Cormack) improved up on to the heels of KERDEM (G. Schofield) and had to be steadied.

Approaching the 800m, DEVESTATING (G. Colless) shifted out, forcing EL PEREZ (C. Spry) momentarily wider on the track.

Near the 450m, KERDEM (G. Schofield) had to be steadied when tightened for room between EL PEREZ (C. Spry) and FAST FUTURE (M. Cahill), which shifted out to improve. M. Cahill, rider of FAST FUTURE, was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.

Shortly after straightening, EL PEREZ (C. Spry) had to be steadied when tightened for room between REZONE (M. Morris) and KERDEM, which shifted out away from SYNONYM (J. Byrne).

Near the 200m, KERDEM was momentarily impeded by SYNONYM, which shifted out.

EL PEREZ (C. Spry), KERDEM and CEEJAY raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of BALLACK revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start.

The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that REZONE was suffering from a mild heat stress attack.


Race 8: Summerveld Racing Stables Class 6 Plate - 1000m
1st – Kelly 2nd – Samui Star 3rd – Ben Hur 4th – Cardio

RELEASE ME (J. Holder) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with KELLY (S. Seamer).

CARRY ON DOCTOR (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after entering the straight, CARRY ON DOCTOR had to be steadied when tightened for room between CARDIO (M. Radecker) and KELLY (S. Seamer), which shifted out to improve around the heels of SERUNAI (S. Cormack), which shifted out slightly.

Near the 150m, PAGAN COUNTY (K. Wharton) shifted in abruptly, momentarily impeding RELEASE ME (J. Holder).

HEART OF THE LION (A. Erhart) and CARDIO (M. Radecker) raced 3 wide throughout.
