Race 1: SUNCORP BANK C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1400m
1st – Jet Style 2nd – Grey Assignment 3rd – Sonic Hill 4th – Taffy

QUITE STYLISH (D. Gill) and SONIC HILL (M. Hellyer) were slow to begin.

PASUGO (P. Keane) was restrained a short distance after the start in order to gain a position closer to the fence.

METHODICAL (N. Thomas) and PASUGO raced wide throughout.

GOLD DOWN UNDER (K. Pope) overraced in the middle stages.

On entering the home straight SOME JOURNEY (K. Forrester) improved up on to the heels of the tiring ASCEND (K. Gates), making contact with its hind quarters, causing that runner to become unbalanced, and SOME JOURNEY having to be severely checked.

QUITE STYLISH was held up for clear running and unable to improve rounding the home turn until a point near the 300m.

A post-race veterinary examination of ASCEND, which compounded badly in the home straight, revealed no significant abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of ASCEND, trainer S. Thomas was unable to offer any tangible explanation, however he advised stewards that in view of the performance he would review the horse’s current preparation.

Race 2: OGE GROUP ARCHITECTS F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1400m
1st – A Pair Of Diamonds 2nd – Selingkuh 3rd – I’m A Smarty Pants 4th – Stalwart Reign

Trainer T. Crane was fined $200 under LR. 67 for failing to declare riders for I’M A SMARTY PANTS (Race 2), JUNTA and TAKE COVER (Race 4) by the prescribed time.

Trainer T. Hall was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare P. Hammersley as the rider of SELINGKUH by the prescribed time.

SATURN FIVE (M. Hughes) was declared a late scratching at 6.57 p.m. when it refused to proceed to the barriers. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on SATURN FIVE be refunded, with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. Trainer A. Jones advised stewards that he intended to retire the horse, however stewards advised him that if the horse were to return to racing it would need to trial to their satisfaction before resuming racing.

NOT A LADY (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

LADY PEMM (D. McWhinney) began awkwardly .

A PAIR OF DIAMONDS (D. Browne) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with MISHANI SHIVA (M. Hellyer).

LATARGIRL (K. Pope) overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 800m when being restrained from the heels of STALWART REIGN (K. Sawyers) shifted out to a three wide position for a short distance.

MISHANI SHIVA overraced in the early stages.

M. Gray, the rider of I’M A SMARTY PANTS, was fined $100 under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on more than 5 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. In considering penalty, stewards took into account M. Gray’s long absence from riding in races, however he was strongly advised to gain a better understanding of the current rules relating to whip use.

Following the running of Race 2, the track was upgraded to DEAD 5.

Race 3: HBA ENCOMPASS CLASS 5 H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Ombre 2nd – Big Tony 3rd – Dai Kon 4th – Patapinda

A short distance after the start GASEOSA (M. Hellyer) shifted outwards and inconvenienced KING OF SPIRIT (K. Wharton).

SWEET SASSI (E. Wilkinson), EXPLORE THE WORLD (P. Hammersley) and VIVAHEART (L. Cheshire) all raced wide throughout.

MARTHA SAY (K. Forrester) raced extremely wide throughout.

Leaving the 800m VIVAHEART was momentarily tightened for room by MARTHA SAY which hung in despite the efforts of its rider.

K. Forrester reported that it was his intention to ride MARTHA SAY prominently, but was not able to clear VIVAHEART, which was racing to his inside, and as a result was obliged to race extremely wide.

Race 4: RCQ C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP - 1300m
1st – Elusive Shadow 2nd – Kalinga Echo 3rd – De Leone 4th – Unluckyforsum

TAKE COVER (K. James) and GREYS A ROCKIN (N. Tomizawa) were slow to begin.

THIRD MILLENNIUM (B. El-Issa) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in tightening the running of MIDNITE RAID (N. Thomas).

ELUSIVE SHADOW (T. Huxham) jumped in at the start taking KENNY'S CASH (P. Hammersley) in on to LE TOUR DE FRANCE (M. Hellyer) which in turn shifted in and bumped TAISUN (A. Spinks).

KENNY'S CASH and LE TOUR DE FRANCE raced wide for the majority of the event.

R. Wiggins reported that from his difficult barrier he was obliged to restrain DE LEONE in the early stages in order to gain a position closer to the fence. He added that following this DE LEONE appeared to lose concentration, in his opinion due to inexperience, and got further back than he anticipated but nonetheless finished the race off well over the concluding stages.

Race 5: EAST COAST SHADES F&M MAIDEN H’CAP - 1300m
1st – Vipera Gold 2nd – Boorocka 3rd – Miss Sanctity 4th – Azzimato

Trainer G. Burns was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare A. Spinks as the rider of BOOROCKA by the prescribed time.

The start of this race was delayed due to AVOCA BELLE (E. Kehoe) taking charge of its rider during the preliminary and having to be examined by the veterinary surgeon before being passed suitable to race.

FREYADANE (O. Turpin) and WELTERDELTA (K. Forrester) were both slow to begin.

MISS SANCTITY (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in inconveniencing VIPERA GOLD (M. Hellyer).

WELTERDELTA raced fiercely in the early stages and when being steadied from the heels of AZZIMATO (D. Browne) got its head in the air.

PLAIN MARY (W. D’Avila) raced extremely wide throughout.

AZZIMATO and JOY’S SPIRIT (E. Wilkinson) raced three wide throughout.

Approaching the 500m SANGRAAL (K. Wharton) and JOY’S SPIRIT raced in restricted room for some distance between PLAIN MARY and VIPERA GOLD which shifted out to improve.

For a short distance in the early part of the straight VIPERA GOLD was held up for clear running on the heels of AZZIMATO. Apprentice M. Hellyer, the rider of VIPERA GOLD, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

MISS SANCTITY shifted out approaching the 400m making contact with SNIPOFFTHEOLDBLOCK (L. Cheshire).

W. D’Avila, the rider of PLAIN MARY, dropped his whip inside the 400m.

Near the 200m MISS SANCTITY shifted out under pressure making contact with AZZIMATO.

K. Pope, the rider of MISS SANCTITY, and MOXICON (Race 6) was fined $300 under AR. 145 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on both runners.

Race 6: BLACKLAW CIVIL CONTRACTORS CLASS 3 H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Slepner 2nd – Scarlett Jo 3rd – Moxicon 4th – Blue Bom Square

Due to a misunderstanding, J. Taylor was declared as the rider of MOXICON when in fact K. Pope had been engaged to ride that runner.

SCARLETT JO (E. Wilkinson) was slow to begin.

BLOODHOUND (M. Hellyer) stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Gleeson was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for BLOODHOUND before its next start.

MOXICON (K. Pope) and A BOY CALLED SUE (D. Missen) made contact on jumping away.

BLOODHOUND raced ungenerously in the early stages.

BOSSIE BOY (P. Hammersley) raced ungenerously at the heels of SLEPNER (T. Huxham) during the early stages.

Near the 1200m SCARLETT JO improved on to the heels of BOSSIE BOY and had to be steadied.

When questioned regarding the performance of BOSSIE BOY, P. Hammersley stated that the horse had a tendency to hang in throughout the event and when SLEPNER (T. Huxham) improved forward passing the 500m he attempted to trail that horse, however BOSSIE BOY was immediately under pressure and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination of BOSSIE BOY revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

Apprentice M. Hellyer reported that rounding the home turn BLOODHOUND improved to the inside of A BOY CALLED SUE and had to be steadied a short distance into the straight when A BOY CALLED SUE shifted in. M. Hellyer added that he was then unable to obtain clear running as he was positioned in restricted room between MOXICON and A BOY CALLED SUE and had runners improving from behind to his outside. He further stated that passing the 150m he was able to obtain clear running but was again held up over the concluding stages and BLOODHOUND went to the line without being fully tested.

Race 7: ACTION REAL ESTATE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1600m
1st – World We Live In 2nd – Chevallum Park 3rd – Shouta Command 4th – Hirviente

DRAGON ROCKER (W. D’Avila) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making contact with the hind quarters of CHEVALLUM PARK (P. Hammersley).

SHEZA FLASHLADY (N. Tomizawa) was slow to begin.

Apprentice P. Keane, the rider of SHOUTA COMMAND, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1200m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LADY INNOCENT (L. Cheshire), which had to be checked and shifted in, unnecessarily tightening the running of PEGUNNY FROG (M. Cahill) and CHEVALLUM PARK, which was racing to the inside of PEGUNNY FROG. Apprentice Keane’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 18 December, and expire at midnight on Monday, 27 December 2010.

BOOM SAGA (D. Gill) raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from trainer T. Gayler regarding the improved performance of WORLD WE LIVE IN. Mr Gayler stated that at its most recent start the horse received interference on jumping away and as a result settled in a rearward position which was in his opinion a disadvantage. Mr Gayler added that he believed the step up in distance was to the horse’s benefit today and he had also removed the blinkers from the horse’s gear, which may have aided its performance tonight.
