EASY DUDE (N. Thomas) bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first time that the horse had bled, trainer T. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DRUM RUN, D. On return to scale trainer R. Hurley, in the presence of apprentice M. Wood, the rider of SHADY OUTFIT, lodged an objection against CURRENT AFFAIR (D. Browne) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol film, stewards found that although CURRENT AFFAIR did shift out and make contact with SHADY OUTFIT, they could not be satisfied that any interference suffered by SHADY OUTFIT exceeded the neck margin between the two runners at the finish and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings of 7, 8, 16 and 20.

W. D’Avila, the rider of SHORT TRIP, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that leaving the 100m he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along with the whip when insufficiently clear of HIGHER ORDER, causing that runner to be tightened for room between SHORT TRIP and MR TWENTY PER CENT (D. Missen), resulting in HIGHER ORDER having to be checked and losing its rightful running. W. D’Avila’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence midnight tonight, and expire following the Ipswich Turf Club meeting on Friday, 11 February 2011.
