As R. Murray was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.
Race 1: BOQ Mooloolaba & Chancellor Park F&M Maiden Plate – 1300m
GLITTER FACE – Arrival on course was delayed due to transport difficulties. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
VINTAGE BON – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Rider reported he had been instructed to ride the horse in a more forward position, however during the early stages he realised he would be caught wide and attempted to press forward and then elected to restrain and take up a position in the back half of the field.
ELEGANT MACHINE – Inconvenienced by another runner on jumping away. After being restrained after passing the 900m, commenced to overrace and hung out. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Following this event, stewards were made aware that the gelding had a minor laceration to the inside of its mouth, which was an old injury, which with treatment was healing. Stewards interviewed trainer D. Meagher, who indicated that this injury had been present for a short time and with treatment had been healing, and, in his opinion, had healed sufficiently for the horse to race. Stewards in the circumstances reprimanded Mr Meagher for failing to notify stewards of this condition prior to the horse running in this event. A swab sample was taken from the horse.

Jockey Cahill indicated that from the good alley today the horse was able to take up a more forward position, however after entering the home straight, did not respond to his riding as anticipated and proved disappointing. Trainer Miss Forster was of the view that the horse may not be suited to being ridden in a forward position and would instruct riders in future to endeavour to have the gelding positioned in the second half of the field as it has performed well when ridden in this manner. She also indicated it was her intention to continue with the current preparation and would look to step the horse up over more ground. Miss Forster undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that comes to light that may have had a bearing on today's performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities, and a swab sample was taken.

He indicated that after being very slow to begin he was obliged to place heavy pressure on the horse throughout the early and middle stages. Trainer M. He also indicated to stewards he was of the view that the mare would be better suited to races over longer distances.
