Johnston-Bell, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Balboa Rocks, against MOLA RAM being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and view the stewards patrol video, stewards found that near the 150m, MOLA RAM shifted out under pressure and made contact with BALBOA ROCKS, however stewards were not satisfied that this contact was sufficient to alter the short-half head margin between both horses and dismissed the objection, declaring correct weight on the Judge’s placings. MEADOW – Apprentice J. Orman reported his mount did not handle the soft track conditions and raced greenly throughout as a result. BALBOA ROCKS – Forced 3 wide near the 800m and raced wide without cover from that point onwards. CLANG AGAIN – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. QABLA – Stewards questioned apprentice M. Murphy regarding his riding between the 900m and 450m when it appeared he lost ground away from RISING LUCK during that section of the race and appeared to show no vigour in order to hold his position. Apprentice Murphy indicated he was trying to hold the horse up for a final sprint home however the horse failed to respond when pressured from the 450m.
