GENERAL
 
Stewards opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding possible race day administration of a substance to Princess Sidereus by trainer Mark Webb, following advice received from members of the QRIC Integrity Regulatory Unit, after they had attended his stables at approximately  11.25 am.   After taking evidence from Mr Simon Fletcher and Miss Robyn McCrae, trainer Mr Mark Webb and also advice from veterinary surgeon Dr Gemma Silvestri, trainer Webb confirmed that he had administered  a vitamin paste  to that filly at approximately 5 am this morning.   On that advice  stewards ordered  Princess Sidereus be declared a late scratching from Race 1  at 12.20 pm under the provisions of AR178E(2).  Stewards ordered samples be taken from Princess Sidereus and also from Mr Webb’s  other runner Brandy Bar, engaged in Race 2.  This matter was adjourned until the results of these samples are obtained.  
 
 
Race 1: Yalumba F&M Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
EXPERTEA – Trainer C. Munce was fined $100 for failing to provide the registration papers for the horse. Slow to begin.
 
MUCHAS CORONAS – Slow to begin.
 
TIZ – Overraced when the pace slackened near the 800m.
 
REINA DE HIELO – Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the 400m.
 
AZARENKA – Steadied shortly after the start when having to avoid the heels of TIZ.  Apprentice L. Tarrant, rider of TIZ, was reprimanded.
 
LOVE TO LIVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2:  XXXX CG&E Maiden H’cap  - 1000m
 
GUINIGI PRINCE – Slow to begin. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners.
 
MACHONIC – Laid n under pressure in the home straight.
 
BRANDY BAR – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
 
Race 3: HMR Projects Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
IN HER WAKE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start of this race and cleared to take its place in the field.  A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
THORNETT – Held up for clear running after leaving the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
 
Race 4: Coastline BMW Racing Qld Summer Provincial Series (Heat) BM75M
 
MIRI MIRI – Slow to begin.
 
SPUR LE JOUER – Slow to begin.
 
MIRI MIRI – Bumped and shifted wider on the track after leaving the 500m.
 
SPUR LE JOUER – Bumped another runner in order to obtain clear running after passing the 500m.
 
HELLAROO – Near the 400m shifted out and bumped another runner before being restrained from heels approaching the 350m.  A short distance later shifted out to obtain clear running and again bumped another runner.
 
STAR FURY – Bumped by another runner on 2 occasions after leaving the 400m.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
 
KYLIE’S FAME – Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers at the request of its rider and was found to be in an agitated state, sweating up badly, with an elevated heart rate.  The horse was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3.12 pm on veterinary advice, with the following deductions applicable.  
 
28 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets on the winner Tambo’s Heart
24 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets on the winner Tambo’s Heart
28 cents in the dollar on the face value place bets on 2nd placegetter Air Force One

Trainer Mr D. Vandyke indicated that in light of this occurrence he would now send the mare for a spell.
 
HIDDEN BELLS – Slow to begin.
 
GREY NOT BLACK – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
AIR FORCE ONE – Held up for clear running rounding the  home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
GAME OF FAME – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 6: Butler McDermott Lawyers QTIS 3yo Class 1 Plate – 1400m
 
BROKEN FINGER –  Overraced in the early stages. Apprentice C. Jokic reported her mount hung out throughout the race.  
 
HUNDRED – Slow to begin.
 
MEET AND GREET – Slow to begin.  Inconvenienced and had to be steadied shortly after the start.
 
MOLA RAM – Obliged to alter course to secure clear running shortly after entering the home straight. Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 7: Hot 91.1 Class 1 H’cap  - 1600m
 
MORE THAN A ROSE – Jockey J. Orman reported it had not been his intention to position the horse at the tail of the field, however after slipping on jumping away he was obliged to take up a trailing position. He had anticipated being  positioned midfield or better. 
 
HEFNER – After being caught wide in the early stages jockey C. Small permitted his mount to stride forward and assume the lead passing the 1000m.
