Due to personal reasons G. Colless was not riding at today’s meeting and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
As a result of an interstate race schedule timing change, the following races were amended as follows:  Race 6 – 5.25 pm to 5.30 pm,  Race 7 – 6 pm to 6.10 pm,  Race 8 – 6.35 pm to 6.40 pm,  Race 10 – 7.45 pm to 7.40 pm
 
 
Race 1: Sky Racing Class 3 Plate – 1600m – 1600m
 
SUBSOLAR – Slow into stride.
 
ADHERE – Overraced in the early stages and got its head up on a couple of occasions.
 
 
Race 2: Sky Thoroughbred Central Class 1 H’cap – 1600m  
 
TOTAL SURPRISE – Bounded in the air on jumping way and then overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 3: @skyracingau Maiden H’cap – 1600m

Race 4: Sunshine Valuers Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
FAST ARROW – When racing in restricted room near the 1000m became awkward and shifted out towards the heels of SPUR LE JOUER and was checked.
 
Race 5. Skyracing.com.au QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate -1000m
 
SETOKA – Jockey P. Hammersley became ill and was stood down by the club doctor.  A. Allen was substituted as the rider of the horse.
 
MORION – Slow into stride.
 
SETOKA – Slow into stride.
 
GUISSOLA – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
VALDEANIE – Raced 4 wide without cover.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: Sunshine Valuers Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
MINK STAR – As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, A. Allen was substituted as the rider of the horse.  Jockey Cassidy was fined $100.
 
JONZALI – Slow to begin.
 
GUILTY VERDICT – Began awkwardly and raced with its head in the air for a considerable distance and refused to settle.  Had to be steadied near the 600m and shifted out away from heels.
 
PILLARA – Had to be steadied when crowded for room near the 700m.
 
CHIC SOX – Hung in in the straight.
 
DIAMONDINE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
 
Race 7: Skyracing.com.au F&M BenSunshine Valuers Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
This morning it was noted that No. 1 - Gherardini, No.2 - Bella Sash, and No. 3 - Noor Drooper were incorrectly weighted due to a clerical error. Consequently the weights for these 3 horses were amended by the handicapper and reduced by 1 kilogram in accordance with their benchmark rating.
 
GHERARDINI – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of D. Browne as the rider of the horse.  After being boxed, kicked out a number of times. The horse was removed from the stalls, underwent a veterinary examination and declared suitable to race.
 
BOLD GYPSY – Bumped on jumping away.
 
CLARAGH – Began awkwardly.
 
HOPETOUN STREET – Raced 4 wide without cover.
 
NOOR DROPPER – Stumbled and fell after the winning post. Apprentice S. Lacy was subsequently transported to hospital for observation. A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed a laceration to the left hind cannon which required stitching, and also sustained abrasions to the right rump.
 
 
Race 8:  Sky Racing Replays Class 5 H’cap – 1200m
 
JACK LANCASTER – Slow into stride. Inconvenienced after the 200m.
 
TRALFAZ – Began awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.  Had to be steadied from heels near the 600m when overracing.  In the straight when attempting a run to the inside of MIRI MIRI where, in the opinion of stewards, there was not sufficient room and was eventually steadied when disappointed for that run.
 
PRIMED FOR DESTINY – Approaching the 200m had to be steadied and shifted in when disappointed for a run between DREAM OF SLIPS, which shifted in slightly, and STONECAST, which shifted out.  Lost a near hind plate in running.
 
DREAM OF SLIPS – Had to be checked severely after the 200m. J. Byrne, rider of STONECAST, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that after the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in whilst being ridden along, resulting in DREAM OF SLIPS being checked severely.   J. Byrne was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 24 December and to expire at midnight, 4 January 2017.
 
The track rating was downgraded to Good 4 at 7.25 pm.
 
 
Race 9: Sky Thoroughbred Central Class 1 H’cap – 2200m
 
Following lightning in the area, this race was rescheduled to 7.40 pm, and Race 10 to start at  8.10 pm.
 
HELL OF A QUEST – Slow to begin.
 
JACKSON BAY – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
FIVE STUD POKER – Jockey  J. Lloyd could off no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 10: Sky Racing Class 1 Plate – 2200m
 
STAINER – As S. Lacy was injured and transported to hospital following a fall in Race 7, apprentice M. Murphy was substituted as the rider of the horse.
 
SPORTSSTAR SAMUEL – Slow to begin.
 
KHADIJA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice C. Jokic explained that the mare travelled nicely in the run and appreciated the solid tempo, however when she attempted to improve, did not quicken and proved disappointing.  She was of the view in the past the horse has performed best when its runs are spaced, however she believed that it did not appreciate backing up within a week.
