QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 24 FEBRUARY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – 7MPENETROMETER – 5.76 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. WilliamsonStewards – D. Aurisch, M. Knibbs, E. BarronClerk of Scales – C. FedrickJudge – P. Chilton, C. DunnVeterinarian – A. MurdochSwab Attendants – K. Warwick, J. CromptonStarter – R. Hanson Stewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: TRICOLOUR CONCRETING RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 2200M After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, B. Stewart, the rider of ENDLESS DON, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against CALL ME RUSTY (G. Goold) being declared the winner, alleging interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that after leaving the 500m ENDLESS DON was attempting to secure a position outside CALL ME RUSTY and to the inside of THORNETT where there was doubtful room. In doing so ENDLESS DON made contact with THORNETT and buffeted with that horse. A short distance later ENDLESS DON had to be checked when CALL ME RUSTY shifted out. Stewards could not be satisfied that ENDLESS DON had established a position outside the heels of CALL ME RUSTY and therefore dismissed the objection. In considering the incident and in relation to the actions of the riders involved, whilst stewards were not satisfied that the interference could solely be attributed to the actions of CALL ME RUSTY, they were satisfied that rider G. Goold had demonstrated a lack of care in allowing his mount to shift out and advised him therefore to exercise more care in similar circumstances. THORNETT – Lost the near fore plate in running. Race 2: BLACK CAT CIVIL MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M BEAU DANCER – Slow to begin.
