KUTTAMURRA AL – Stewards questioned R. Stewart regarding the tactics adopted, as the horse settled in a position just behind the lead, which is in contrast to its established racing pattern. He indicated that his intention and instructions had been to attempt to settle in a midfield position with cover. He indicated that whilst caught in a wide position during the early stages he elected to allow his mount to stride forward when he saw an opportunity to settle behind the lead. Trainer R. Heathcote’s representative, Ms M. Sharpe, confirmed the instructions. Stewards accepted the explanation after a review of the patrol footage.
