Race 1: GT PRINT AUSTRALIA PTY LTD QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1000M

BALLINGALL DUKE – Raced greenly throughout. Trainer S. Cole was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

IMA FARMBOY – Raced wide without cover.

TRAVERS – Jumped away awkwardly. Stewards questioned G. Colless regarding the horse’s performance. He indicated that after beginning awkwardly the horse settled in the second half of the field, travelled well and when asked to shift wider on the track to improve, raced greenly and became awkward in its action, commenced to hang out, which had been a trait of the horse when trained in New South Wales. He said that the horse ran on fairly in the home straight.

KEEP YOUR ROSES – Trainer C. Munce was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Murphy as rider.

Race 2: RACE ZONE RACING SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

BALLINGALL PRINCE – Slow to begin. Raced very greenly throughout, performed uncompetitively. Trainer S. Cole was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

LOOKSY NO TOUCHY – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

SKATZERO – Hampered by another runner near the 700m. Raced wide throughout.

IYLESAY – Trainer W. Bannerot was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Orman as rider.

SPLASH OF CRISTAL – Hampered by another runner near the 700m. Raced wide throughout.

SINGLE LASS – Raced wide without cover.

GOLDEN SHEAF – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Stewards questioned J. Lloyd regarding his riding from the 400m until approaching the 150m where it appeared he may have had opportunity to shift to the outside of BOGEY MAN to improve into the race. He indicated that he looked at this opportunity near the 400m and felt that he would not be able to make this manoeuvre without interfering with LADY REGARDLESS, which was racing to his outside at the time. He indicated that as a result, whilst still able to ask his mount for a response, he was obliged to wait until the 200m when LADY REGARDLESS had weakened and at which point he directed his mount out. Despite this, GOLDEN SHEAF was inclined to lay in towards the fence and it took a number of strides before he was able to obtain a position outside BOGEY MAN near the 150m. He added that the horse did not make up significant ground from that point onwards. Stewards accepted the explanation.

MILARKI – Raced wide without cover. Apprentice A. Sewell reported that the horse was making an abnormal respiratory noise post-race. A post-race veterinary examination detected no abnormalities.

Race 3: PERRY’S SUNSHINE COAST EVENT HIRE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M

PRODUCE ME LATE – Slow to begin.

HANCOCK – When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that when he attempted to restrain in the back straight on a number of occasions the horse became awkward in its action and laid out and appeared to resent being restrained. He said that the horse weakened in the home straight and was disappointing. He added that the horse also laid in under pressure in the home straight and he was obliged to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions when tiring.

MEHMETO – Changed stride and lost momentum when improving into the race passing the 200m.

MISS SEVERINA – Hampered near the 200m when obliges to steady to avoid the heels of HANCOCK, which shifted out.

BELIEVE THE DREAM – Connections advised that in light of today’s performance the horse would now be retired from racing.

Race 4: PLATINUM ELECTRICIANS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1600M

DOWNLOADING – Raced with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that at no stage did the horse travel comfortably, racing with its head in the air in the early stages and near the 850m, when following MOGUL, that horse shifted in and made contact with the running rail. He felt that this caused his mount to shy and lose ground and become very awkward in its action. He indicated that from that point onwards the horse did not respond to his riding and was very disappointing in the run to the line.

MADLUCE MISSILE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event and was forced from three wide to four wide near the 800m.

ANZIO – Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight.

NAMIB – B. Pengelly reported that he was disappointed with the horse’s performance. He said the horse offered very little in the home straight and weakened. Trainer B. Lockwood confirmed that the horse would be sent for a spell and reported that the horse had cast the near hind plate in running.

MOGUL – Shifted to three wide without cover near the 800m. Laid in under pressure shortly after entering the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten. M. Hellyer was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

SAVANNAH ROSE – Was shifted wider on the track when overracing near the 1200m and permitted to stride forward to the led passing the 800m.

LORD CHAMBERLAIN – Connections advised that from the inside barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more forward. The horse settled back in the field.

NAVAJO PRINCE – Slow to begin and then improved onto heels and had to be checked near the 1400m.

SAKAN – Shifted in across heels near the 1300m, clipped heels and blundered. Steadied near the 500m when forced to race in restricted room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer S. Mesken was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.

TONI MAY – When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, G. Colless said that it had obtained a favourable position midfield on the fence. He said that he looked to improve to one off the fence after passing the 800m and was able to do so. He added that a short distance after leaving the 600m he would have liked to improve more into the race, however was held up momentarily and was afforded clear running when rounding the home turn and found the line only fairly and in his opinion was somewhat disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer P. Jenkins indicated that the horse may have come to the end of its preparation and he would monitor the horse’s progress in the coming days.

SURFACE TENSION – Overraced and improved to the inside of HARBOR SPRINGS near the 1500m where there was insufficient room and had to be checked as a result. Trainer G. Duncan indicated that the horse will be retired.

HARBOR SPRINGS – After passing the 1500m, after another runner improved to the inside, shifted wider and raced three wide from that point onwards.

WALWA – Steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the winning post on the first occasion and raced with its head in the air until approaching the 1900m and hung out for a short distance.
