Race 1: Centrepoint Holiday Apartments Maiden H'cap – 1600m
 
MISPRINT – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.  Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that after suffering interference at the start she was obliged to settle further back than anticipated, however when the tempo increased from the 800m the gelding failed to quicken as anticipated and finished the race off only fairly.  A. Fancourt was of the opinion that the gelding  may not run out a strong mile.  Trainer J. Zielke confirmed the stable was somewhat disappointed with the performance and felt it raced a little flat today and would look to start the horse  over 1400m next start.
 
TRUST ISSUES – Steadied near the 1500m to avoid heels. Rider C. Bayliss, rider of HAVEN DUKE, was advised to exercise more care.
 
ACE STRYKER – Overraced in the early stages.
 
NATIONAL JEWEL – When attempting a tight run passing the 500m was disappointed and had to be steadied.
 
ONE MAN GRAND – Caught 3 wide without cover and jockey J. Lloyd attempted to ride forward to secure the lead passing the 1000m, however was unable to cross SILENT FLYER and then the rider elected to steady and attempted to position behind that runner, however was not clear to shift in at a point passing the 800m and was obliged to remain 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
Race 2:  Ocean Views Resort Maiden H'cap – 1200m
 
GRUINARD BAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MY KINDA WOMAN – Overraced in the early stages and when the pace slackened leaving the 800m had to be checked from heels.
 
EAST OF MIDNIGHT – Checked from heels after passing the 800m when the pace slackened. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 450, then raced greenly and was inclined to lay in until approaching the 300m, and had difficulty securing clear running for a short distance after passing the 300m.
 
WINNING SPIRIT – Raced 4 wide without cover.
 
CAPTAIN BOOKWORM – Raced 3 wide without cover.  Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that despite racing wide throughout, the gelding, in her opinion, was disappointing as it weakened from the 500m when placed under pressure.
 
 
Race 3:  Ross Maclean Fellowship QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
PRINCE SILENCE – Slow to begin.
 
LEGACY WARS –Slow to begin.  Raced wide without cover, then raced greenly  and laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOME COLLECT -  Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start.
 
BAGGINS – Raced wide and was ridden aggressively to assume the position outside the  lead passing the 700m.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
SHE’S FAST – Placed in restricted room after passing the 700m and was held up for clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
CAPTAIN THE WORLD – Trainer’s representative Ms L. Herne was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance.  She indicated that after the horse started at the Gold Coast on 17 May the stable  added a tongue-tie to the horse’s gear, which it raced in on 17 June.  However the gelding’s performance on this occasion could be explained by sustaining interference on a number of occasions throughout the event, as noted in the Stewards’ Report.  She added that the stable had expected a forward showing in today’s race as the horse had responded in its trackwork following the addition of the tongue-tie. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near hind heel.  
 
 
Race 4:  Stripe Pro Signs Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
 
MADAM SUPPER CLUB - Slow to begin.
 
MYSTYKO – Over the concluding stages had to be steadied to avoid the heels of IN AKITA, which shifted out under pressure.   Stewards issued jockey J. Lloyd, rider of IN AKITA, a severe reprimand. In assessing the incident, stewards  believed jockey Lloyd’s actions were careless in failing to stop riding and straighten his mount, however were not satisfied that the interference suffered warranted a suspension of his licence.  
 
MANIAS – Raced 4 wide without cover.
 
MAGIC STREET – Jockey J. Morris reported it had not been his intention to lead, however the horse began quite well out of the barriers and as a result he elected to ride forward.
 
TIZ– Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount did not feel comfortable at any stage of the event and had concerns with the horse’s breathing.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5:   Parklands Tavern BM75 H'cap – 1000m
 
ONE IN ONE OUT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOUNT KOSCIUSZKO – Sustained a significant injury to its off fore suspensory ligament and will now be retired from racing.
 
BARNSLEY – Stewards questioned jockey J. Lloyd regarding his tactics after passing the 600m as to whether he should have shifted wider on the track to improve around MOUNT KOSCIUSKO rather than remain in a position one off the fence, which ultimately resulted in him being held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 400m.  Jockey Lloyd explained he had considered shifting out to improve around that horse, however when GRAYSON SQUARE shifted away from the fence to a one-off position near the 500m, he felt that shifting wider would have cost his mount ground, and as he believed a run would present itself to the inside of GRAYSON SQUARE he remained one off.  He felt that being held up had not  affected his horse’s finishing position.  Stewards noted his explanation.
 
ASHGROVIAN – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg.
 
 
Race 6:  Placemat (Kitchenware) Class 1 H'cap – 1400m
 
BOILING – Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount overraced throughout the event and hung out from the 600m.
 
THE OVERDRAFT – Raced 3 wide without cover before obtaining a position outside the lead after passing the 700m.  Raced greenly in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten near the 200m.
 
FRENCH TOAST – Had some difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.
 
FLASH HERO – Raced wide.
 
ROCKING MY WORLD – Raced wide.
 
PRODUCE ME LATE – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey D. Browne expressed his disappointment in the gelding’s performance and was of the view that it may have come to the end of its current preparation.  Trainer C. Richardson reported that the horse would now be sent for a spell.
 
 
Race 7:  Rumba Resort Class 3 H'cap – 1600m
 
BILBERRY STAR – Slow to begin.
 
THE SNOW QUEEN – Was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of CLOUDS  passing the 1200m and as a result was steadied.
 
CUSHION PINK – Stewards asked jockey M. Cahill to comment on the performance of the horse.  He indicated he had been instructed  to ride the filly in a more forward position and despite riding very vigorously during the first 150m, the horse could not muster sufficient speed to cross runners to the inside, and when in a position 4 wide passing the 1300m he elected to steady in an attempt to secure a position a position closer to the fence.  He added he was obliged to take a position further back than he would have liked and from the  800m the horse did not travel despite being ridden into the race and was extremely disappointing.   A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.  Stable representative M. Sharp confirmed the instructions and was at a loss to explain the  performance and advised veterinary tests would be performed on CUSHION PINK in the coming days. Stewards indicated  they would not make any determination regarding the horse until after veterinary tests are furnished.
 
 
Race 8:  Garrards Horse And Hound Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
 
FLAMIN’ MOGUL – The start was delayed when the horse became fractious in the barrier and broke through.  The horse was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4.51 pm.  Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to successful investments placed prior to the withdrawal time.

Correct weight was again delayed when jockey J. Byrne, rider of the 2nd placegetter, RUNNING BROKE, wished to examined the photo-finish print for 1st.   After viewing the available images, stewards were satisfied that the Judge’s decision was accurate and subsequently declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers.
 
MINSK – Steadied after passing the 800m when placed in restricted room. Held up after passing the 200m.
 
TYCOON TYKE – Improved onto heels passing the 600m and had to be restrained, and was then held up for clear running until leaving the 200m when disappointed for a run at that point  and had to be steadied and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
FORSYTH – Held up rounding the home turn and into the early stages of the home straight.
 
KULABA – Apprentice S. Lacy reported that, in her opinion, the horse failed to handle the track conditions and dipped on a number of occasions, particularly near the 600m and again near the 400m.
