Trainer B. Smith reported that Hirtshalls following  x-rays to its knee would now be spelled.

GENERAL
 
As apprentice R. Ride was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
 
Race 1: Poolpro.com.au No More Than 2MW H'cap – 1000m
 
ROYAL OCCASION – Slow to begin.
 
TUMBLER – Slow to begin.
 
IRISH CONSTABULARY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide.
 
SINGLE CHANCE – Raced wide without cover.
Race 2: Pool Pro – Celebrating 25 Years Ratings Band 0-70 H'cap – 1200m
 
JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin.
 
UNCHARTERED – Slow to begin.
 
VITAL LOVE –  Jockey R. Fradd was  asked to comment on the performance of the filly.  Of particular concern  was when the horse appeared to lose ground during the middle stages, when passing the 800m and again after the 600m. He indicated that VITAL LOVE was, in his opinion, somewhat field shy, and shifted in when leaving the 800m, bumping the rail, and  after other runners improved to the filly’s outside she laid in and away from those runners, bumping the running rail on a number of occasions.  He added that he was obliged to pressure the horse at these points of the event  in an attempt to hold its position.
 
MR BON VIVANT – Overraced in the early stages.
 
EXCELLENT SPIRIT – Raced wide without cover.
 
SAGAMAMA – Raced wide.
 
FLAMIN’ MOGUL – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3: Neptune Pumps For Swimming Pools BenchMark 90 H'cap – 1400m
 
CRAIGLEA WANDOO – Slow to begin.  Held up for clear running after passing the 600m and until leaving the 500m. Shortly after that point shifted out to secure clear running and made contact with another runner.
 
EVENTIDE – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected. Trainer T. Button was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare regarding its barrier manners.  Apprentice M. McGillivray reported his mount hung out from the 600m placing him at a disadvantage.  
 
BANDA SPICE - Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
EIGHT’S A PARTY –  Bumped by another runner passing the 400m. Jockey D. Browne was asked to comment on the performance.  He indicated that as the horse was returning from a brief spell it will derive  fitness benefit from the event. A post race veterinary examination  revealed the horse to be slightly sore in both forelegs.
 
UNBOWED – Raced wide without cover.
 
BETTABET RED – Raced wide.
 
BUSHY – When asked to comment on the performance of the  horse, jockey J. Lloyd stated that, in his opinion, the horse races best when able to improve into the race outside other runners.  He was of the view that drawing barrier  1 and racing amongst horses had a detrimental effect on the gelding’s overall performance.
Race 4:  Pool Pro Quality Chemicals QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1200m
 
BRING IT HOME POP – Following the race had blood in its near-side nostril.  Connections were advised that the colt would be required to perform a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to its next race start.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Slow to begin.  Checked from heels passing the 800m and as a result shifted wider on the track and raced wide  without cover from that point onwards.
 
PINCH PASSION – Slow to begin.
 
LADY LARK – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with  JINX ‘N’ DRINX.
 
JINX ‘N’ DRINX – Bumped at the start.
 
SISTA ACT – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
SAXTON ROCK – Raced 4 wide in the early stages and then overraced whilst being restrained to secure cover passing the 700m.
 
RED HOT MISS – Jockey T. Harrison reported the filly travelled well however quickly lost ground when placed under pressure in the straight.  A post race veterinary examination  failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  Trainer T. Sears reported that post race he was somewhat concerned with the horse’s action behind and would have the filly examined by his veterinary surgeon in the coming days.
 
 
Race 5: Become A Pool Pro Stockist Class 6 H'cap – 1600m
 
BLOOMING TYCOON – Slow to begin.
 
GOULDIAN – Slow to begin.
 
MONTEUX – Slow to begin.  When wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and obtained a position closer to the rail after passing the 1000m.
 
FLYING LIGHT - When wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and obtained a position closer to the rail after passing the 1000m.
 
MOONLIGHT DANCER – Slow to begin.
 
SECRET HARMONY – Overraced in the early and middle stages and then shifted 3 wide to improve after passing the 300m.
 
HIGH DEGREE – Overraced in the early and middle stages, having to be checked from heels passing the 1400m and again approaching the 800m.
 
NUDGEE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
LASCAR – When asked to comment on the performance of the horse, jockey J. Orman indicated that from the wide alley he had been instructed to obtain cover and therefore he took hold from the barriers, and whilst  he settled 3 wide was satisfied with the cover he had obtained.  He then indicated he was able to improve into the race after passing the 600m and was very satisfied with the horse’s finishing effort. Jockey Orman was of the opinion that the horse’s performance was significantly affected by the slow tempo set throughout the event.
 
CASHING UP -  Jockey R. Fradd advised he had been instructed to settle the horse in a midfield position and after travelling a short distance was satisfied with trailing SECRET HARMONY, which he felt would settle outside the lead, however this horse was restrained when other runners improved to the outside and this caused CASHING UP to be further back in the field than he would have liked. He added he was unable to improve until entering the home straight and was then disappointed for a run approaching the 700m. He added with hindsight he would have been better served attempting to hold a position inside the heels of SECRET HARMONY.
 
Race 6: Pool Pro – Simply A Better Choice Class 6 Plate – 1200m
 
KHALEESI – Jockey P. Hammersley was examined by the doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. A. Spinks was substituted as the rider of the horse. Raced 4 wide without cover. Further riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
PRINCE MANITOU – Slow to begin.
 
OUR STORY – Slow to begin.
 
EARLSTOUN RULER – Steadied from heels near the 900m.
 
BARNSLEY – Overraced badly in the early stages and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions approaching the 900m.
 
TANSY – Steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the 900m.  Jockey A. Spinks, rider of SECRET HARMONY, was reprimanded for this incident.
 
ORADONNA – Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room after passing the 800m.  Jockey A. Spinks, rider of SECRET HARMONY, was reprimanded for this incident.
 
KWANZA – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
Race 7: Pool Pro Queensland Cup – 3200m
 
POP ‘N’ SCOTCH – Shifted wider to improve passing the 1400m and then raced 3 wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
ARALDO JUNIOR – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 600m.
 
EMERALD CITY – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had broken down in the near foreleg.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
Race 8: Pool Pro Is Proudly Australian Owned QTIS 3yo  H'cap – 1000m
 
JADENTOM – Declared a late scratching at 8 am on veterinary advice.
 
TVERSKY – The start was delayed when this horse broke through the barriers. Was quickly restrained, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
GINGERSNAP – Became fractious in the barriers, then jumped away very awkwardly, making heavy contact with the barrier partition.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg.
 
OINK – Jumped away awkwardly after being fractious in the barriers.
 
VOL VALLEE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
BITHARD – Slow to begin.
 
KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Raced wide without cover.
 
SUNDANCE – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 9:  Pool Pro – Products Professionals Use Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
ANDARI – Slow to begin. Near the 1200m reacted poorly to being placed in restricted room to the inside of runners and lost ground.  B.  Pengelly, ridder of THE PERPETRATOR, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
COBARCHIE – Slow to begin.
 
TYCOON FLUTTER – Slow to begin.
 
EXPAT ENVY – Steadied near the  100m when placed in restricted room between runners.
 
TAP THIS – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
ELJETEM – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
SWEET ADALINE – Raced wide.
 
THE PERPETRATOR – Jockey B. Pengelly advised he was disappointed with the overall performance of the horse, adding that the gelding did not travel comfortably throughout the event and when asked to improve near the 600m failed to respond and found the line only fairly.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  Trainer P. Duncan confirmed the stable’s disappointment in the performance, however was unable to offer any explanation, and gave an undertaking to report back to stewards in the coming days of any abnormality that comes to light.
