Ostrofski Race 1: SUITS DIRECT F&M CLASS 2 H'CAP 1400M ST HILARY Held up rounding the home turn before shifting back to the inside near the 300m to secure clear running. KERMANDIE STAR Slow to begin. Had a tendency to lay in despite the efforts of its rider after rounding the home turn. CAPE DENISON Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m, had to be restrained and shifted wider on the track for a short distance. Race 2: RAY WHITE BLI BLI CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Orman as the rider of ZUKAZ. LWAZI Slow to begin. SI SI SEQUALO Raced extremely wide without cover. MOVING PRESS When asked to comment on the performance, D. Browne indicated that the horse did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and he was obliged to niggle the horse in order to hold a midfield position and was very disappointing in the run to the line. Trainer L. Gough advised that he could offer no explanation for the horsees disappointing performance. He added that the gelding appeared to have pulled up well and that veterinary tests would be carried out on the horse in coming days, the results of which he would report to stewards. SACROMONTE Raced wide without cover. DREAM OF ASCOT Lost the near hind plate in running. ZUKAZ Raced wide with cover. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. PERFECT RAIN Slow to begin. Had to alter course back to the inside passing the 200m to obtain clear running. Race 3: BAMPAK BUILDING MAIDEN H'CAP 1000M Trainer L. Birchley was fined $400 as his failure to scratch WICKED EXPRESS by the prescribed time had cost an emergency a place in the event. As apprentice S. Lacy sustained a foot injury after riding in Race 2, apprentice E. Ljung was substituted as the rider of BONNEY LORES. LANINAH Raced greenly throughout. Trainer R. Wilson reported that the horse was lame in the near foreleg when being loaded onto the float post-race. Mr Wilson was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again. BAUHINIA DRUM Bumped at the start. Raced three wide. CELEBRATION DAY Raced greenly in the middle stages. SPLITLOCK Held up rounding the home turn. BONNEY LORES Fractious in the barriers. Trainer G. Hineman was advised that a warning would be placed on the horsees manners. CATCH CANDY Slow into stride. Held up from the 600m until entering the home straight. GINGO Began awkwardly. Raced four wide. Held up from rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m. LIBERTY LASS Raced three wide without cover. MISS KATIE Slow to begin. Race 4: BLUE HOPE VARIETY RUSSELL SHEEHAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP 2200M Trainer L. Stratton was fined $100 for the late declaration of apprentice A. Sewell as the rider of LITTLE WEALTH. LITTLE WEALTH Trainer L. Stratton advised that from the wide barrier it would the intention to have the horse ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. NOVATIVE Slow to begin. Forced wider passing the 700m and raced wide from that point on. BRONTE BABE Forced wider passing the 700m and raced wide from that point on. SIDEWALK TALK Slow to begin. LORD CHAMBERLAIN Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m. Race 5: AUSCREDITS CLASS 5 H'CAP 1400M Trainer B. Herne was fined $100 for the late declaration of B. Grylls as the rider of DREAM OF SLIPS. IRON GEORGE Obliged to steady away from heels near the 1100m and then overraced at heels until approaching the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run and forced to avoid heels near the 350m and then was held up and unable to secure clear running until leaving the 200m when obliged to shift wider on the track to secure clear running. As trainer B. Currie was not in attendance at the race meeting, stewards will interview both him and apprentice R. Goldsbury in coming days regarding instructions and tactics adopted. SHOW COMMAND Hampered on jumping. Stewards questioned jockey B. Stewart regarding his tactics adopted when following IRON GEORGE after passing the 600m and his reasons for remaining to the inside rather than continuing to follow that horse. He indicated that rounding the home turn he felt that IRON GEORGE was held up and as DUTCH TREAT had commenced to improve to the inside he attempted to follow that horse into the race, however in the home straight, when unable to secure clear running, he was obliged to shift back to the outside where his mount responded moderately when afforded clear running. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered. MANDRYKA Slow to begin. Raced three wide throughout. BOLD AVENUE Got its head up when overracing passing the 1100m and had to be steadied away from heels. LIGHT SHOWS Slow to begin. Race 6: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE CLASS 1 H'CAP 1200M CLASSAY Slow to begin and then hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover. Apprentice Z. White reported that her mount hung from the 800m to the 400m. NORTHERN DIVINE Shifted out near the 400m, making heavy contact with another runner. Cast the off fore plate in running. BEVEILE Jumped away awkwardly. WITNESS Raced wide in the early stages until the 600m. Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 400m. LEROY ROCKS Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m. MORION Raced wide in the early stages until the 600m. SILVER SCREEN Held up shortly after entering the home straight.
