SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Doomben 14 October 2017 Race 5: Apprentice S. Lacy, the rider of RISING STOCK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 950m she contributed to interference by permitting her mount to shift in when not clear of NOW YOU SEE, which was taken in onto HOT GOSSIP, which was tightened and taken in onto MISHANI WRANGLER, resulting in that runner being forced in across the rightful running of ONE MANSINI, which was severely checked. Apprentice Lacyys licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 21 October and expire at midnight on Monday 30 October 2017.

PUNISHING Stewards questioned D. Browne regarding his tactics when positioned three wide as to whether he had opportunity to improve past the leaders when the pace set in the early stages was very slow. Jockey Browne indicated that he had given consideration to striding forward, however given the rain-affected conditions he was content to remain wide as he felt the ground to the inside was inferior and he was satisfied that his mount was travelling comfortably. He indicated also that as he believed his mount possesses a short sprint he felt that if he had injected pace into the race, this would have benefited other runners which are more suited to longer distances. He added that he has led on the horse in the past and was very disappointed in the horsees finishing effort and he believed this would not have been considered advantageous by the connections. He further added that the horsees overall finishing effort was quite disappointing as he felt he was close enough when rounding the home turn to be competitive in the finish.

CAPTAIN DODGE Apprentice M. Murphy dropped his whip near the 250m.
