SUZY’S ROSE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from heat stress. Connections were advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Race 2: Capricorn Roofing CG&E Class 1 Plate – 1000m DOUMBEK – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MANKINI LOVE – Jumped away extremely awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition and as a result lost ground. Thomas reported the horse pulled up suffering from mild heat stress. Race 3: ABA Partners F&M Class 1 Plate – 1000m TACTICAL MANUEVER – Apprentice A. Sewell replaced S. Lacy as the rider of the horse. On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey D. Browne, rider of the 3rd placegetter,SOME COLLECT, against CLIODHNA becing declared 2nd alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, stewards established that near the 200m CLIODHNA shifted out under pressure when racing greenly, causing interference to SOME COLLECT. This caused SOME COLLECT to be shifted wider on the track, resulting in rider D. Browne being forced to stop riding and straighten. Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered was sufficient to reverse the head margin between both horses and therefore upheld the objection and the Judge’s and the Judge’s placings were amended to read: No. 4 – Send Us A sign – 1st No. 5. Some Collect – 2nd No. 1 – Cliodhna No. 6 – Splash Of Cristal – 4th. TEAGZ – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Cahill reported it had been his intention to lead however after being slow to begin he was obliged to attempt to take a position behind the lead. He added that at no stage did the horse, in his opinion, travel comfortably and was inclined to lay out, which has been a trait of the filly in the past. Trainer Mr M. Mair indicated consideration would be given to sending the filly for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. DUTCH GAL – When restrained in the early stages overraced and then hung out until entering the home straight. SEND US A SIGN – Obliged to race 3 wide without cover. Race 4: Apex Building Products Maiden Plate – 1800m LITTLE MISS MONACO – As B. Grylls was not riding at this meeting, J. Lloyd was substituted as the rider of the horse. ESOR – H. English replaced S. Lacy as the rider of the horse. When having difficulties securing clear running near the 250m, was obliged to alter course to the inside. TIZABEE – Significantly slow to begin. Near the 900m improved on to the heels MR BOMBASTIC and shifted wider on the track and raced wide from that point onwards. OMNIA TIDAK TAKUT – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. ELVISON – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. When overracing near the 1500m, shifted wider to avoid heels and then was ridden forward and obtained the lead passing the 1300m. WESTERN ORDER – Jockey L. Tilley reported that his mount laid in throughout the event. Lost is near hind plate in running. Race 5: Australis Safety Rail Class 3 Plate – 1600m BRIGHTNBREEZY – Apprentice T. Brooker replaced apprentice S. Lacy as the rider of the horse. HEARTS HONOUR – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. On jumping away was restrained heavily and ridden at the tail of the field. Commenced to overrace when the pace slackened approaching the 1200m and as a result shifted out near the 1200m to avoid heels and remained overracing until approaching the 600m. SAVANNAH ROSE – Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount refused to settle when the pace slackened near the 1200m and pulled very hard. He added his saddle slipped back significantly, placing him at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. BALBOA ROCKS – Jockey M. Hellyer reported it had not been his intention to settle in a position in the forward half of the field, however after beginning well the horse travelled strongly in the early stages and took up a position just behind the lead. When shifting out to improve made heavy contact with another runner near the 300m. MEHMETO – Bumped by another runner approaching the 300m. Race 6: Australis Roofing Magic Millions Country Cup Qualifier Open H’cap – 1200m The start of this race was delayed when SHE’S MISS DEVINE required farrier attention behind the barriers. REAL GOOD – Slow to begin. SHE’S MISS DEVINE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Improved on to heels approaching the 500m and had to be steadied, and then was held up for clear running rounding the home turn. SPUR LE JOUER – Placed in restricted room on a number of occasions between the 900m and 800m and as a result had to be steadied. CALKE ABBEY – Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 7: Logic Energy RQ Summer Prov. Series – Heat – Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1400m SYAMANTAKA MANI – As Jockey S. Doyle was to be overweight, J. Orman replaced him as the rider of the horse. Jockey Doyle was fined the sum of $100. FIT FOR PURPOSE – After sustaining a minor laceration to the near hind leg when being transported to the course, was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. MANDRYKA – Slow to begin. Stewards asked jockey N. Evans to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated he had anticipated settling closer to the lead, however, in his view, the horse did not muster early speed. He said he would have also liked to improve his position from the 600m, however COBRA QUICK, which was racing to the outside, laid in after passing the 600m, restricting his racing room slightly, and this in conjunction with his mount commencing to hang out, resulted in him having to steady from the heels of COBRA QUICK approaching the 500m. He added the horse did respond to his riding when rounding the home turn, before being obliged to alter course in the straight to secure clear running and found the line strongly, doing its best work over the concluding stages. He indicated a step up in distance where the horse could take up a more forward position would be beneficial at its next start. BRIALKA LODGE – Inconvenienced by another runner rounding the home turn and when weakening near the 300m was placed in restricted room, having to be steadied. VICTORY EIGHT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees Fine Race 7.
