Ostrofski Race 1: HIGGINS COATINGS C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M SO YOU WISH – Mr Laming advised stewards that the rider will be instructed to attempt to ride the gelding with cover. After becoming fractious and rearing in the barriers, the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was found to have sustained abrasions to its head. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards declared the horse a late scratching at 6:47 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SO YOU WISH be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 6:47 pm: 25 cents in the dollar for the win #829 cents in the dollar for place of winner #828 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #729 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5 Connections were advised that SO YOU WISH will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. The start of this race was further delayed when HENRY’S AFFAIR became fractious, broke through the barrier gates and travelled a short distance before undergoing a veterinary examination and being passed fit to start. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on HENRY’S AFFAIR for its barrier manners. Began awkwardly. Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8 retrospective. Race 2: TOD CONSULTING PTY LTD F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M GAMBLING DOLL – Tightened for room at the start. When returning to the enclosure the horse was found to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that the horse will be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to racing again must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward. UNDERTHEMISTLETOE – Bumped after the start. WHERE’S THE RING – Began awkwardly and then was restrained to obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field and then commenced to overrace. Hung in under pressure over the last 400m of the event. GINGO – Severely checked after the start. CHOICE OF FRIENDS – J. Murphy reported that the mare felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 3: CONSTRUCTIONS 161 QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M ROCK DANCER was a late scratching at 7:55 am. NOTNECESSARILYSO was a late scratching at 3:05 pm for veterinary reasons. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. NICALATI was a late scratching at 7:00 pm following the track downgrade to HEAVY 8. VOODOO MANGO MAGIC – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before restraining to a position with cover. KEMSREY – M. McGillivray reported that after his mount jumped well his initial intention was to take cover, however when no opportunities presented he then allowed his mount to stride forward and race outside the leader. THINK ROSES – Connections advised that it would be their intention that the horse race midfield with cover if possible. After beginning moderately the horse was then forced to race in a rearward position. VEGANZA – The offside winker became detached near the 1400m. Following the running of this event the track was further downgraded to HEAVY 9 retrospective. Race 4: SWEET CHARLOTTE STUDIOS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M CLIVEDEN was a late scratching at 7:34 pm following the track downgrade to HEAVY 8 SWISS LOVE – Overraced in the early stages before taking cover on the rails. Tired over the concluding stages. S. Galloway reported that his mount failed to handle tonight’s track conditions. ENVIRONMENTAL – Obliged to steady from heels when overracing near the 800m, shifted wider on the track and then raced three wide for the remainder of the event. Race 5: QIMR BERGHOFER OPEN H’CAP – 1400M WEINHOLT – Disappointed for a run near the 300m and again held up momentarily near the 200m. PUNTA NORTE – Shifted up the track under pressure in the run to the finish. SPUR LE JOUER – Held up briefly near the 300m. DOUBLE IMPACT – Raced three wide throughout the event. Stewards questioned trainer J. Crompton regarding the horse’s perceived form improvement. Ms Crompton stated that with DOUBLE IMPACT being a 9-year-old and having its fourth run back from a 6-month spell, she was finding it difficult to raise the horse’s fitness level and also forced to race the gelding over unsuitable distances. She added that tonight’s distance and the wet track played in the gelding’s favour. Stewards noted her comments. UNBOWED – Raced three wide in the early stages before finding a position on the rails near the 800m. Race 6: GR FLEET SERVICES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M ALL PICKLEDwas a late scratching at 7:55 am. JOYFILY was a late scratching at 3:30 pm for veterinary reasons. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. WILD BRITT – Raced wide throughout. ORIO MISS – Began awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing its rider, and then appeared reluctant to stretch out despite the urgings of its rider. After considering its performance, stewards advised connections that the horse would be required to trial prior to its next race start. NUG’S POCKET – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after the start, losing ground. Race 7: ST JOHN’S COLLEGE NAMBOUR CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1600M LOCUS – Jumped awkwardly and pressed forward to race outside the leader in the early stages. LIKE A RULER – Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that his mount never felt completely comfortable in tonight’s going. LAVINGTON STAR – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Wanted to lay in in the home straight.
