El-Issa (Race 1) were indisposed due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES TOWNSVILLE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M HARDLY TOUCHED – Improved on to heels near the 700m and had to be steadied before racing greenly for a short distance. Raced wide with cover. LEROYTHECONQUEROR – Had a tendency to hang out after passing the 600m and raced greenly and commenced to lose ground from that point on. MACEWEN – S. Cormack was asked to comment on the horse’s performance. He indicated that the horse had no early gate speed and despite being ridden aggressively settled at the tail of the field. He added that he was obliged to niggle the horse throughout the event to remain in touch with the main body of the field and the horse commenced to improve approaching the 400m. He further added that he was obliged to alter course near the 200m to obtain clear running and felt that the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages and he was of the opinion that a step up in distance would be beneficial to the horse. OSBECK – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 500m and had to be steadied. SECRET SPIRIT – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters passing the 700m and became unbalanced when MOSUO shifted out. Raced three wide without cover. JUST GIVEME RUBIES – Inconvenienced by another runner near the 450m. MOSUO – Began awkwardly. Overraced on to heels when racing greenly after passing the 700m and shifted out, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of SECRET SPIRIT and then raced greenly from that point on. Raced wide with cover. PURE INDULGENCE – Slow to begin and then hampered shortly after jumping. YAMAZAKI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. STORMINA – Blundered near the 500m. Following this event B. Stewart was examined by the Club’s doctor after suffering a laceration to the nose and was cleared to take his remaining engagements. Race 2: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES ROCKHAMPTON QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M DUBAI SKY – Bumped another runner on jumping. Had to be steadied away from heels and shifted out approaching the 800m. LUCKY FIX – Fractious in the barriers and reared prior to the start. Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. Had to steady when tightened for room approaching the 700m. NARDA SHAR – Had to steady when tightened for room approaching the 700m. Raced greenly and hung out until entering the home straight. PERFECT AIM – Raced greenly in the home straight. REALLY SPLENDID – Slow to begin and lost significant ground. WAR FACTOR – Inconvenienced and steadied approaching the 800m when tightened for room between runners. M. Hellyer reported that his mount raced greenly throughout. MAYBE MARKLE – Bumped another runner on jumping. Lost the off fore plate in running. NERINA – Apprentice J. Murphy reported that the horse raced greenly and hung out from the 700m, placing him at a disadvantage. He added that on pulling up the horse had its tongue over the bit. Trainer J. Phelan was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MISCHIEVOUSMARILYN – Had to be steadied and shifted out approaching the 800m when awkwardly placed at the heels of PERFECT AIM. J. Orman reported that his mount raced greenly in the home straight. Race 3: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES GOLD COAST MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M BEAU DANCER – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 600m and shifted in. Apprentice T. Williams, the rider of HINTERLAND SAM, was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift ground when not clear. Raced three wide throughout. MEANER – Slow to begin. EFFEROUS – Began awkwardly. TUTOKANULA – Slow to begin. Raced four wide after passing the 600m. M. Hellyer reported that his mount laid out rounding the home turn. HOLUS BOLUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. NANCY BIRD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SINGLE LASS – Hampered between runners when racing in restricted room approaching the 600m. Race 4: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES GLADSTONE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M ROYAL ASSASSIN, which was fractious in the barriers and reared very high, was declared a late scratching at 5:08 pm on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ROYAL ASSASSIN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 5:08 pm: 1 cents in the dollar for the win #52 cents in the dollar for place of winner #53 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #172 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #18 Trainer T. Bourke was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate before racing again. ANOTHER DABL DOYA – Began awkwardly and then was bumped heavily. DAKOTA SUN – Slow to begin. L. Dittman reported that his mount raced very greenly throughout the event. Co-trainers G. Heinrich and B. Rodgers were advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s racing manners. FORENSIC AUDITOR – Began awkwardly. SATURN OPS – Inconvenienced and lost ground at the start. Bumped by another runner near the 600m, became unbalanced and lost ground. VICTORY STAR – Began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with ANOTHER DABL DOYA. GEM OF THE LOCHS – Raced wide without cover. FIND NEMO – Raced wide without cover. Race 5: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES MACKAY F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M FAIRLIGHTING – Apprentice J. Murphy reported that after enjoying a favourable run behind the lead, his mount was asked to respond upon entering the home straight and proved very disappointing in the run to the line. The Edmonds stable could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MEWSTONE ROCK – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start. ROSES OF JOY – Overraced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. DELAGO THUNDER – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin and then being tightened between runners shortly after the start, the filly was ridden forward and obtained a position midfield with cover. MISS DEFIANCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have poor post-race recovery and to be exhibiting an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer N. McCall was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again. SOME COLLECT – Bumped heavily shortly after the start by DELAGO THUNDER, which shifted out. TOLAI MERI – Raced three wide without cover throughout. MISS POWDER KEG – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. SWEET JAIN – Trainer G. Burns advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Race 6: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES BUNDABERG C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M DO A DABL DOYA – Raced three wide after passing the 700m. SANCTUARY COVE – Overraced in the early stages and had to be restrained of heels approaching the 900m. Bled from both nostrils during the event. The horse will now be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to racing again must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward. ALL PICKLED – Overraced in the early stages when racing three wide without cover. Had a tendency to lay in shortly after straightening and was bumped on the hind quarters. WEONA NICCONI – Began awkwardly. Hampered between runners upon straightening and became unbalanced when LIMESTONE COWBOY shifted out to obtain clear running. L. Tarrant, the rider of LIMESTONE COWBOY, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when not sufficiently clear. STORMY BENZ – L. Tilley reported that his mount hung in under pressure in the home straight. BENOVSKY – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air, losing considerable ground. WILD ELEMENT – Bumped on a number of occasions approaching the 350m. Race 7: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES SUNSHINE COAST CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1800M LA CHATTE was a late scratching at 9:20 am for veterinary reasons. THE PERPETRATOR – Slow to begin. MYSTERIUM – Improved on to heels passing the 500m and had to be steadied and then was held up for a short distance rounding the home turn before obtaining clear running after passing the 400m. FRENCH TOAST – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 350m where the mare obtained a run back to the inside. MALCRIADO – Overraced when joint leader in the early stages and then passing the 1100m, when crossed by CASINO GARDENS, continued to overrace and had to be steadied away from heels to race in a position outside the leader. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. TYCOON ROSSA – Overraced and got its head up when being restrained in the early and middle stages. Race 8: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M EMINENT – Brushed the running rail near the 900m when placed in restricted room. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. MONSTER OF ENERGY – Overraced in the early stages and raced in restricted room approaching the 900m when tightened for room. Had a tendency to lay in rounding the home turn and in the home straight. ALL TROOPS – Commenced to overrace shortly after the start and when being restrained had a tendency to lay in despite the efforts of its rider, tightening runners to the inside. Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that her mount was inclined to lay in in the home straight. ROTHABYE – Raced four wide with cover. SISTER PATTI – Raced three wide without cover. MAGIC LOVE – Commenced to overrace when caught wide in the early stages and got its head up when being restrained to a rearward position to obtain cover. Race 9: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES TOOWOOMBA RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – 1400M TOPENDING – Hampered on jumping by MR OPURRTUNIST which shifted out. MICKEY DAZZLER – Severely tightened for room approaching the 1200m by OUR CLARKY, which was taken in by EARLSTOUN RULER. Held up rounding the home turn. CHICAGO NIGHTS – Slow to begin. Had to be restrained from heels approaching the 1200m. BIDZIIL – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace passing the 1300m, improved on to heels and had to be restrained. Raced three wide with cover throughout. LAVINGTON STAR – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout. SIP SIP SIP – Apprentice S. Lacy reported that her mount overraced in the early and middle stages. OUR CLARKY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Taken in by EARLSTOUN RULER approaching the 1200m, tightening runners to the inside. HENRY’S ON COURSE – Raced four wide without cover throughout. LOADED AND READY – Brushed the running rail when tightened for room approaching the 1200m when racing to the inside of MICKEY DAZZLER. PRINCE MORPHEUS – Began awkwardly and was bumped by MICKEY DAZZLER. MR OPURRTUNIST – Stewards questioned trainer J. Stanton regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance. Mr Stanton indicated that today’s event was only his third start as the trainer of the gelding. He advised that at Nanango on 31 March the horse had begun from a wide alley and was obliged to race further back in the field than he would have liked and he was very satisfied with the horse’s finishing effort. He added that at the horse’s most recent start at Ipswich on 18 April the horse had been caught wide and had weakened only in the final 200m. He further added that he expected a forward showing today, however was somewhat surprised that the horse had won this evening’s event. Stewards reviewed the video footage of both of the horse’s starts this preparation and accepted the explanation tendered by Mr Stanton.
