MANA - Trainer P. Jenkins advised stewards that in light of this performance the horse  would be sent for a spell.
 
ENTERPRISE JACK – Trainer M. Lakey reported that the horse was found to be shin sore following the event and will now be sent for an immediate spell, during which time it will undergo a gelding operation.
 
FUERZA – Trainer T. Timberry reported that the horse sustained abrasions to both hind bumpers.

Race 1: Tat Tiling Maiden Plate – 1600m
 
ON SHOW – Change of tactics – Connections advised the horse would be ridden closer to the speed. The horse began awkwardly and settled slightly worse than midfield. Held up rounding the home turn. Had difficulty securing clear running for a short distance approaching the 200m before bumping with another runner.
 
CALISTO – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Shifted wider from the 800m and raced 3 wide from that point onwards.
 
ROCK DANCER – Jockey M. Cahill reported his mount, after beginning fairly, then failed to muster any early speed and lost ground in the early stages. Had difficulty securing clear running for a short distance approaching the 200m before bumping with another runner.
 
THE PONY  - Apprentice S. Lacy reported that her  mount raced with its head in the air and was inclined to lay out throughout the event, particularly under pressure in the home straight.  Raced 3 wide until the 800m.
 
IT’S NOT AN ISSUE – Whilst weakening approaching the 200m was buffeted between runners.
 
QUEEN BEATRICE – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: G & S Plumbing Group Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
SYLVESTER – As B. Stewart was to be overweight, M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey Stewart was fined $200.
 
ALLOFIT – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 800m when the pace slackened and had to be checked and shifted wider on the track.
 
THE GREAT THREE – Slow to begin. After it was noted that the gelding had drifted significantly in the betting market, stewards questioned jockey Andrew Spinks regarding his riding of the horse. He indicated it began the race tardily and as a result he was slightly further back  in the field than he would have liked, adding that the gelding commenced to race strongly from the 600m. However when presented with clear running at a favourable point of the race near the 400m,  he advised  the horse  did not let down as anticipated when asked for an effort in the home straight and was somewhat disappointing given its finishing effort at its most recent start.  He added that he had expected a forward showing in today’s event as he galloped THE GREAT THREE on Tuesday morning and was pleased with its work.   Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos  was questioned and indicated that the horse had worked well during the week and had no setbacks following its last start, adding she expected a forward showing in today’s event and provided to stewards betting  tickets to confirm that both she and the owners had supported the horse in today’s event.  Mrs Cotsiopoulos further  advised she was quite disappointed with the horse’s performance, indicating she would have blood tests performed  in the coming days and would advise stewards of the results. 
 
TAHITIAN FLYER – Inconvenienced by another runner after passing the 800m and was forced wider and as a result raced wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
STONEFISH – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running until the 200m.
 
NEW HORIZONS – Stewards interviewed jockey T. Harrison regarding the tactics adopted as the horse sat outside the lead in today’s event, which was in contrast to the horse’s established racing pattern when trained by a different stable.  Jockey Harrison indicated that during this preparation when trained by the Chris Meagher stable she had ridden the horse in 2 jumpouts and it had shown early gate speed and led, and as such fully expected the horse to race in a forward position today. The explanation was accepted.
 
DOONYA – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey N. Thomas indicated that the horse raced quite greely throughout  and was somewhat field-shy and would take benefit from the race experience.
 
 
Race 3: SC Falcons Maiden Handicap (2) - 1200m
 
HIGH PROFILE – Declared a late scratching at 10.26 am on veterinary advice.
 
SILENTUS – Blundered on jumping away and made contact with another runner and lost ground.
 
RED HANA – Tightened for room at the start and had to be checked.
 
SIOUXSIE – Jumped away awkwardly. Improved onto heels after passing the 600m and had to be steadied.  Somewhat held up rounding the home turn and was then obliged to alter course on 2 occasions to secure clear running in the home straight.
 
GRAND ALIBI – Placed in restricted room by STRIKING DISTANCE  near  the 900m and had to be steadied and made contact with the running rail.  Jockey M. McGillivray,  rider of STRIKING DISTANCE, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
TESTA DONNA – Raced 3 wide form the 700m without cover.
 
 
Race 4: Hunter Petroleum Class 3 Plate – 1200m
 
PLAY THING – Held up rounding the home turn and until the 300m. 
 
SNITZIOLA – Whilst weakening near the 150m was steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
SEDUCTIVE DREAM – Stewards questioned jockey M. Cahill and trainer T. Haydon regarding the apparent change in tactics as the horse was ridden in the lead in today’s event, which was in contrast to the horse’s recent training pattern.  Jockey Cahill explained that he had not been issued specific instructions as to where to position the horse, however had  been advised should he be found in the second half of the field he should be looking to improve his position to be closer to the lead when rounding the home turn.  He stated he had made the decision on jumping away to be somewhat positive on the mare, and after travelling a short distance it became apparent he would be caught wide if he remained in the position outside LIMITED and therefore elected to allow the mare to stride forward. He further added he would have been content to settle outside the lead to allow SNITZIOLA to remain on the fence, however when that gelding was steadied near the 750m he continued forward to the lead passing the 700m.  Stewards accepted the explanations tendered by Mr Haydon and jockey Cahill.
 
GREYWOLF – An inquiry was adjourned into the riding tactics issued to jockey Tomizawa.
 
 
Race 5: Vantage Homes Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1600m
 
AMERICAN DIVA – Jumped awkwardly and was unable to muster early speed despite the efforts of its rider.  Steadied from heels after passing the 400m.
 
FAST ARROW – Forced to race in restricted room approaching the 1400m and had to be steadied. Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination, which finished a distant last, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Connections indicated following the disappointing performance they would consider the horse’s immediate racing future.
 
BROCSON – Improved on to heels near the 450m and had to be steadied.
 
VAULTING AMBITION – When asked to comment on the performance of the horse jockey B. Stewart reported the horse travelled comfortably throughout the race, however was disappointing when asked for an effort in the home straight.  He indicated the stable would be giving consideration to sending the horse for a spell. Trainer C. Anderson advised he was somewhat disappointed with the overall performance and that the horse would now be sent for a spell.
 
 
Race 6: Caloundra City Autos QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
BURNING SUCCESS – Significantly tightened for room at the start and checked. Stewards interviewed jockey T. Harrison regarding the horse’s racing manners. She advised that the horse raced very greenly throughout the event, hung out rounding the home turn and shifted out abruptly when attempting to secure clear running over the concluding stages. She also added that the horse had returned to scale with lacerations in its mouth. Trainer M. Mair confirmed this. He was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start and must also trial satisfactorily.  
 
AQUAGEM – Jumped very awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition and another runner. Raced in restricted room approaching the 500m.
 
COUPE DE VILLE – Slightly slow to begin and was placed in restricted room shortly after the start and was steadied as a result. Raced greenly throughout and was steadied from heels near the 500m.
 
DE NOVO – Jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner.
 
VALARIO – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Placed in restricted room approaching the 400m and when restrained shifted out, having to be checked from heels.
 
BABY BOO – Bumped on the hind quarters approaching the 500m.  Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 200m and became unbalanced. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
DRAGON PINS – Buffeted between runners approaching the 500m.
 
ZEPHYR CRUISER – Inconvenienced and forced wider by another runner approaching the 200m.
 
DENEUVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
ENTERPRISE GRAND – Raced greenly throughout the event. Shifted out abruptly approaching the 200m causing interference to other runners.  In this incident, jockey J. Lloyd was reprimanded for directing his mount out and also trainer M. Lakey  was advised that given the horse’s involvement in this incident that a warning would be placed on the horse.  Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
 
Race 7: North Coast Foods Benchmark 62 Handicap  – 1000m
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Hung in badly throughout, causing its rider to be unable to test the mare, resulting in it finishing tailed off.  Trainer C. Hickey was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to its next race start.
 
MISTER SPINKS – Jumped away very awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner.
 
PAT KASH – Badly tightened for room at the start and was severely checked.
 
INKY BAY – Tightened for room at the start and was steadied. Weakened badly over the concluding stages.  A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed it to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Connections were advised that the horse must gallop prior to having an endoscopic examination performed, with the results to be forwarded to stewards prior to its next race start.  
 
ESSAKA – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.
 
LOADED AND READY – Slow to begin.
 
DOOM – Raced wide.
 
 
Race 8: Best Western Plus Kawana Class 1 Handicap – 1400m
 
ESCADAY – Declared a late scratching at 3.23 pm on veterinary advice after the horse got down in its float en route to the track.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BLACKMAILER – Jockey N. Thomas, rider of SINISTER PRINCESS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he failed to stop riding and straighten his mount when it was shifting outwards under pressure, resulting in interference suffered by BLACKMAILER, and causing that gelding to clip the heels of SINISTER PRINCESS and blunder at approximately the 60m.  Stewards issued a reprimand, taking into account jockey Thomas’s exemplary record. He was also  advised that if not for this extremely good record further action would have been taken.  Held up for clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
GENERAL ASSAULT – Forced 3 wide at the 800m.  Raced 3 wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
DIDN’T MENTION IT – Shifted out to avoid heels near the 800m, forcing another runner wider.
