Jockey J. Orman was fined $200 under AR. 160B(3) for possessing a mobile phone in the jockeys’ room.

Race 1: BLUE HOPE BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1200M

KIEVANN – Stewards questioned jockey D. Browne in relation to leading in today’s event, which was in contrast to the gelding’s recent established form. Jockey Browne indicated that it had not been his intention to lead and that pre-race he was of the view that TREASURE GALLERY would be the likely leader in the event, however when his mount began better than TREASURE GALLERY he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and assume the lead. He added that the horse has previously led and won when racing in Victoria. Stewards accepted the explanation.

TRUCULENT – Became unbalanced whilst overracing approaching the 1100m.

JOHNNY WHITESOX – M. Du Plessis reported that he was very disappointed with his mount’s overall performance. He stated that the horse was under pressure in the middle stages and he could offer no tangible explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

PRECIPITATE – Overraced for a short distance passing the 800m.

Race 2: HARAS & CO HAIR BOUTIQUE CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1400M

LAND OFFICE – Rider dropped his whip near the 200m. A. Allen reported that the pace of today’s event was more suitable where the horse was able to settle comfortably than at its most recent start. He indicated that at Toowoomba on 18 September the pace set in the early stages was fast and he was obliged to pressure the horse earlier than he would have liked.

BROCSON – Slow into stride.

FLAMIN’ MOGUL – Jumped awkwardly and then overraced in the early stages.

FONDUE – Dipped on jumping and lost ground. Rider J. Murphy reported that as a result of losing ground at the start he was positioned further back in the field than he would have liked.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.

Race 3: VARIETY RUSSELL SHEEHAN MEMORIAL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M

ALL PLUCK – Raced three wide without cover.

GREEDY – Bumped at the start.

ESSAKA – Fractious in its stall, had to be removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and deemed suitable to race. Raced four wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had a minor abrasion to the off hind pastern and was found to be mildly lame.

JAYAQUA – Returned to the enclosure with a deep laceration to the near hind pastern and received veterinary treatment.

Race 4: TRIANON LAW F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

MELANYA – Bumped heavily near the 400m. Lost the near hind plate in running.

WILLO TITTO – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden on the pace if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

I’M JUST PINK – Bumped at the start and was slow to muster speed.

TACTICAL MANUEVER – Shifted out when attempting to secure clear running near the 400m and made heavy contact with MELANYA. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Race 5: BAMPAK MAIDEN H’CAP – 1600M

PAGE ONE – M. McGillivray was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out under pressure approaching the 300m, causing tightening to runners to the outside.

WU LONG SHI – Slow into stride.

CLASSIC PEARL – Checked off the heels of RISEUPSKATING near the 400m when that runner was taken out by UBER MOVER, which was also crowded by STONEFISH, which was taken out by IT’S NOT AN ISSUE, which shifted out to improve. L. Tarrant, the rider of IT’S NOT AN ISSUE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 400m he directed his mount out to force a run to the outside of the leader PAGE ONE, resulting in interference to other runners. L. Tarrant’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 7 October and to expire at midnight on Friday 19 October 2018.

IT’S NOT AN ISSUE – Obliged to shift out to avoid heels approaching the 300m, causing tightening to runners to the outside. Trainer D. Heinemann was questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance. He indicated that the horse, in his opinion, raced well at its last start at the Sunshine Coast as it was only beaten 5 lengths. He added that at its most recent start at Gympie the horse received severe interference during the early stages and had to be checked and this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. He further added that he had expected a more forward showing tonight, however was somewhat surprised with the horse’s win.

RISEUPSKATING – Raced three wide from the 800m. Taken out near the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

STONEFISH – Had to be steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1200m and shifted to a three wide position before being ridden forward to assume a position outside the lead leaving the 1000m. Forced wider near the 400m and again approaching the 300m, causing tightening to runners to the outside.

UBER MOVER – Placed in restricted room approaching the 300m and had to be steadied.

WICKED HEIGHTS – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

Race 6: AUSCREDITS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M

BULLTRUCK – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide without cover.

MINGALAH – Severely hampered on jumping away and lost ground.

STAYING BLACK – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 900m, shifted out and made contact with HELLOFA GOOD SORT.

BLUE ON BLACK – Severely buffeted at the start and had to be checked.

THE INVESTIGATOR – Raced wide throughout.

TREZORO – Raced wide throughout.

COONOWRIN SILKY – The saddle slipped in the early stages, resulting in the packing becoming dislodged. As a result, rider M. Nakao weighed in underweight and therefore stewards, acting under AR. 143(a), disqualified the horse from the event.

HELLOFA GOOD SORT – Bumped leaving the 900m and then became awkwardly placed at the heels of MINGALAH, which shifted in, and as a result had to be steadied and then overraced until approaching the 700m.

JUST GIVE ME RUBIES – Overraced during the middle stages.

DALES LUCK – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with another runner.

Race 7: NOOSA CAR & TRUCK C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

RAISE AN ARMY – Had to be eased near the 1200m when crowded by CAPEOS, which shifted in when not properly clear. M. Hellyer, the rider of CAPEOS, was reprimanded.

GRUOSI – Overraced when the pace slackened after passing the 1200m.

CLAIRVUE – On pulling up the horse was short in its action. As a result, rider M. McGillivray dismounted. The horse underwent a veterinary examination near the 1800m chute and the veterinary surgeon was satisfied that whilst the horse was short in its action, he was content to allow the horse to walk back to the swab stall to receive treatment. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin.
