He added that he had recommended to connections to experiment with the addition of blinkers prior to its next race start.   A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Bodey advised stewards that the horse was having its first start in a tongue-tie in today’s event. He felt this may have had an effect on the performance and he would  consider removing the tongue-tie before its next race start.

Following this race the track was upgraded to Good 4.
Race 2: Famous Dicky Beach Parmigiana F&M Maiden H’cap – 1000m

SEENTOMANY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey S. Galloway pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that at a point  near the 300m he directed his mount out, initiating contact with TOO HARD TO CALL, forcing that horse wider on the track, which caused interference to that horse, and in turn  interference to WRITTINKO, resulting in that mare  being  taken wider and losing ground, and causing  the rider of PUMPKIN DIAMOND  to have to  stop riding and direct his mount  out to avoid heels at that stage. Jockey Galloway was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days, to commence at midnight, 26 October and to expire at midnight, 2 November.  In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey Galloway’s extremely good record in relation to breaches of this rule.

Connections were advised that the horse must  officially trial prior to its next race start.

He indicated he was of the view that the horse did not appreciate racing in tight proximity to other runners and was reluctant to stretch out in the home straight for this reason.

CAPTIVATED – Stewards questioned apprentice J. Murphy regarding the tactics adopted which resulted in his mount being positioned 3 wide outside the lead during the middle stages. He stated that he had been instructed to lead, however after beginning awkwardly and riding aggressively  in the early stages he felt he may not have been able to cross runners to his inside and commenced to steady near the 1000m. However after leaving the 900m became aware that he would be caught 4 wide and commenced to ride forward in an attempt to cross the leaders, however he was unable to cross and as a result was caught wide. Stewards advised apprentice Murphy that they were of the view he had erred in his decision making in the early stages as he would have been better served continuing in his attempt to obtain the lead. Though stewards were not satisfied that this error resulted in apprentice Murphy being culpable under the rules and took no further action.
