Race 1: Iron Jack Maiden H’cap (2) – 1400m
 
PIERRE BIZEL – The start of the race was delayed when the gelding broke through the front of the barriers and travelled a short distance before being restrained. Then underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BUXTON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. 
 
MISS MELRAE –  Commenced to weaken from the 600m, and a post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.
 
GRAND ALIBI – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 2:  James Squire Maiden H’cap (1) – 1400m
 
MISTER WARD – Declared a late scratching at 12.15 pm on veterinary advice  after rearing over in its race day stall.
 
GINGO – Jumped away very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide until leaving the 700m before obtaining the lead and crossing to the fence at that point. Stewards questioned apprentice T. Williams  regarding her riding of the mare.  Of particular concern was the fact that she led when the horse’s racing pattern has been to settle in the second half of the field, and as to why she led after having begun very awkwardly.  Miss Williams stated she had been instructed to attempt to settle midfield and rode aggressively out of the barriers after being slow to begin in an attempt to secure that position. However when the pace slackened approaching the 900m she became aware there would be no position closer than 3 wide and as her horse was already improving quickly, she elected to allow the mare to continue forward and assume the lead. Stewards advised apprentice Taylor that after beginning awkwardly she would have been better served  taking up the option to shift across to the fence and settle at the tail of the field, however in the circumstances did not feel that her option to improve to the lead when caught wide was culpable under the rules and took no further action.

Apprentice T. Williams was fined $100 for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
DAZZLING GREY – Slow to begin.
 
MILITARY STRIKER – When the pace slackened passing the 900m had to be steadied to avoid heels.
 
TREZORO -  When the pace slackened passing the 900m had to be steadied to avoid heels.
 
CERTAIN DOUBT - When the pace slackened passing the 900m had to be steadied to avoid heels.
 
 
Race 3: XXXX Gold Class 1 H’cap – 1600m
 
PRODUCE ME LATE – Slow to begin.
 
SECRET SITES – Slow to begin.  Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $300 for using  his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
RED BALTER – Jumped awkwardly.
 
IT’S NOT AN ISSUE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 3.
 
 
Race 4: EG Design Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
 
UPPEMBAK – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
IMA FARMBOY –  Jumped away very awkwardly, making heavy contact with the barrier partition and also another runner. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bled from both nostrils during the race. As this was the second occasion on which it has bled, the gelding now will incur a lifetime bar from racing.
 
TRU BLU TANGO – Slow to begin.
 
ON THE BOSSA NOVA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
LIE BEI – Obliged to stop riding near the 200m and shift out to obtain clear running after being disappointed for a run.
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: Civil Perspective Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1200m
 
KIEVANN – Shifted in and away from MISERY near the 700m, which shifted in.  As a result of this KIEVANN made heavy contact with the running rail and lost ground.
 
MISERY – Bumped by another runner near the 200m.
 
WONDER BOOM – Shifted out under pressure and bumped another runner near the 200m.
 
 
Race 6: DYFA Plumbing Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
 
MISS BENETEAU – Stewards accepted the explanation from  jockey B. Pengelly for being overweight on the mare.  Jockey G. Geran was substituted as the rider of the horse. Slow to begin.
 
FLIP DE GLOIRE – When being restrained to obtain cover, overraced in the early stages and became awkward at heels near the 1100m.
 
MISS DEFIANCE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
GOLDEN GUARDIAN – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 7: Furphy Ratings Band 0-58 – 1400m
 
PAT KASH – Slow to begin, then overraced in the early stages.
 
KAILENNY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
VOLOMITE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
MISS POWDER KEG – Stewards asked jockey D. Browne to comment on the overall performance. He indicated with the step up to 1400m  he had been instructed to not overly pressure his mount in the early stages as the horse has had a tendency to overrace. He added that he had managed to get the horse to relax and travel comfortably throughout the event, however after being somewhat held up for clear running rounding the home turn, was presented with clear running approaching the 200m, and when asked for a response, the mare did not quicken as he had anticipated. He felt this was as a result of it being somewhat field shy and, in his opinion, would benefit being able to shift wider earlier and improve into the race with momentum around other runners.  Stewards noted the explanation.
