General
As R. Mangan was unable to fulfil his engagement following a stewards’ direction, and B. Pengelly and R. Maloney were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
Race 1: Michael Ackerman – Antenna’s/TV Open Fillies & Mares H’cap – 1000m
MACHU PICCHU – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Eased when tightened for room near the 800m between FOXY HOUSEWIFE and AIMALAC MILLIE, both of which shifted ground.
FOXY HOUSEWIFE – Shifted out under pressure over the final stages.
ISIS MAGIC – Shifted in when placed under pressure approaching and passing the 200m.
Race 2: Lance’s Mowing & High Pressure Cleaning QTIS 2yo H’cap - 1000m
GOT NO DOUBT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
BETAIMA – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
BAY NOT GREY – Slow to begin.
SO YOU BEAUTY – Checked at the start when tightened for room. Hung out rounding the home turn.
DESIGNATED - Checked at the start when tightened for room.
TAIRO – Slow to begin.
STAGE PLAY – Hampered when bumped soon after the start.
SOUTHERN SWING – From the wide barrier was restrained to gain a position closer to the rail. Raced greenly throughout the event.
COULDN’T REFUSE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
LADY BRAHMOS - Stewards questioned rider D. Smith regarding the tactics he adopted on the filly, in particular over the final 400m. Jockey Smith explained that he settled worse than midfield and he had to ride the filly with some vigour in the early part to get it to travel. He further added that rather than come to the outside in the home straight he elected to alter course to the inside in order to improve, and when he placed his mount under pressure it found the line well.
Race 3: Sunshine Coast Lightning Eagle Way Stayers Series Heat – QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1600m
LOPE FOR JOYA – Slow to begin.
THE BIG HOUSE – Began awkwardly and shifted out and bumped FOOZLE. Near the 300m had to be restrained from the heels of the tiring FOOZLE.
MISHANI ROMAN – Restrained from a wide barrier to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the rail.
TOO HOT TO HOLD – Inconvenienced soon after the start. Bumped near the 1100m and taken momentarily wider. Had to be checked when tightened for room by A MAN TO MATCH, which shifted in slightly.
A MAN TO MATCH – Inconvenienced soon after the start. Near the 1100m had to be restrained from heels and shifted out, bumping TOO HOT TO HOLD. Held up and unable to secure clear running from the 500m until near the 300m, and then had to be checked to avoid the heels of OUR TOP SHELF, which had commenced to weaken. Then had to alter course wider on the track in order to improve.
OUR TOP SHELF – Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to race outside the leader passing the 1000m. Bumped near the 350m.
RUMBERELLA – Lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 4: Melbourne Storm Benchmark 75 H’cap – 2200m
SHE’S RELIABLE – Jockey R. Maloney was fined $200 for being overweight on the horse. Jockey M. Cahill was substituted as the rider.
LADY NO MORE – Jockey J. Orman was fined $200 for being overweight on the horse. M. Hellyer was substituted as the rider of the horse. Bumped on straightening and then crowded slightly near the 300m.
IOWA – Slow to begin.
CALYPSO BAY – Restrained from a wider barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.
STRAIGHT HOME – Slightly inconvenienced just prior to straightening and then hung in in the early part of the straight.
BENICO’S PRINCE – Stewards sought an explanation from trainer P. Kings regarding the seemingly improved performance today. Mr Kings explained that the gelding is better suited to today’s distance of 2200m as it has raced well over this journey in the past, and instructed his rider to be patient today and make one run as the horse only possesses a short sprint.
Race 5: The Render Centre Class 3 Plate – 1000m
AWESOME PLUCK – Connections advised the horse would be ridden further back in the field today if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Restrained from a wide barrier at the start to gain a positon closer to the rail.
SEENTOOMANY – Connections advised the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden forward of midfield.
ANOTHER SLIPPER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
GOOD TIME CHARLIE – Hung in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight and again over the final stages.
DREAM MASTER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey R. Maloney was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
VOULAIT – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
Race 6: Caloundra Automotive Open H’cap - 1400m
NIKITAS – As jockey R. Maloney was to be overweight, jockey M. Du Plessis was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey Maloney was fined $200.
SPUR LE JOUER – Was inconvenienced when tightened for room between SHAKOPEE and APOLOBOOM, which shifted in slightly near the 250m.
PETROLOGY – Over the final 200m was held up and unable to secure clear running.
SHAKOPEE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
FRESPANOL – Raced 3 wide throughout.
Race 7: Caloundra Produce & Landscape Supplies Benchmark 70 H’cap – 1400m
BEAT THE BEAST – As R. Maloney was to be overweight, T. Marshall was substituted as the rider of the horse. After B. Pengelly was initially engaged and replaced by R. Maloney, R. Maloney was then unable to fulfil this engagement due to him requiring additional time to waste for his engagement on USMANOV in Race 8. Jumped awkwardly.
GREYWOLF – Slow to begin.
BOILING – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
LE DRAMA – Raced 3 wide in the early stages.
REMARKABLE SON – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer D .Vandyke was advised that he must supply a veterinary certificate for the horse, including the results of an ECG, and that it must also trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.
Race 8: The James Ackerman Memorial – Shipley Smash Repairs QTIS H’cap - 1200m
TAKOTSUBO Jumped awkwardly. Passing the 100m was galloped on and dragged down behind when weakening. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
AXELLA – Near the 500m had to be restrained from the heels of CRAFTY SPIRIT. Inconvenienced near the 100m.
OTHERSIDE – Inside the final 100m was inconvenienced when bumped by RED DOULTON. Checked near the 900m.
USMANOV - Near the 900m when overracing had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TAKSOSUBO. M. Murphy, rider of TAKOTSUBO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding for this interference. Apprentice Murphy was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight, 14 November and to expire a midnight, 23 November.
RED DOULTON – Held up for clear running in the home straight and passing the 100m when attempting a narrow run between IMA TEAMBOY and WINTER PASSAGE improved onto the heels of TAKOTSUBO, which commenced to weaken, and struck the heels of that runner and had to be severely checked.
RED CHASE – Held up for clear running in the home straight until passing the 200m.
SOARING HEART – Jockey B. Stewart was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in, crowding HOLD THE LINE in on to SHAMURT, which in turn shifted in and crowded OTHERSIDE, which was checked and lost ground. Jockey Stewart was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight, 17 November and to expire at midnight, 27 November. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 9: BOQ Currimundi NMW H’cap - 1200m
SNITCH – Slow to begin.
SO INVINCIBLE – Slow to begin.
COOL SEQUENCE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping ALL IMPORTANT. Pulled hard when racing outside the leader in the early stages.
ALL IMPORTANT – Bumped at the start. Was hampered approaching and passing the winning post.
IL RICCIO – Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight and until passing the 200m.
ORADONNA – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Gough advised that the horse would now be sent for an immediate spell.
STANLEY PARK – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
