QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2018 (NIGHT) WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 5/GOOD 4 @ 4:30 PMRAIL – 2M PENETROMETER – 6.52 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – N. Ostrofski Race 1: GDQ PUPPY PALS MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M YOSHIKO was declared a late scratching at 5:20 pm on veterinary advice that the mare had sustained a tendon injury in transit to the course. Trainer B. Robinson was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start. DEBONAIR DES – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining the position outside the leader at the 800m. KARAS – Held up rounding the home turn. MILITARY STRIKER – The near fore plate had to be refitted on arrival at the barriers. SAVVY ACQUISITION – Bumped on jumping. Slightly inconvenienced when racing in restricted room passing the 600m. DANGEROUS DINOZZO – Made contact with the hind quarters of JEN FROM MYERS shortly after the start and became unbalanced for a few strides. DOCAROCKET – Raced three wide without cover from the 800m. Bumped and shifted wider on the track passing the 300m when OCEAN ADDICT shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. JEN FROM MYERS – Raced three wide with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the horse had bled, connections were advised that the mare would now incur a mandatory lifetime ban from racing. NOM DE THEATRE – Bumped and shifted wider on the track passing the 300m when OCEAN ADDICT (R. Maloney) shifted out. R. Maloney was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. OCEAN ADDICT – Slow to begin. Laid in slightly after passing the 600m. STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Bumped and shifted wider on the track passing the 300m when OCEAN ADDICT shifted out. Race 2: BEERWAH HIDEAWAY CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1600M SHAKOPEE – Trainer T. Haydon advised that it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. ONEMORE EMOTION – Had a tendency to lay in shortly after straightening and became awkwardly placed at the heels of WHODUNNIT for a few strides. CRUZ DE VEGA – Slow to begin. STAR ECHO – Slow to begin. Race 3: DR HEATHER PARKER OAM F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M DANCES WITH TIME – Raced three wide with cover. GRACE OF MONACO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Tightened for room and had to be steadied away from heels after passing the 200m when CALL ME TILLY (M. McNab) shifted out. M. McNab was reprimanded. CALL ME TILLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up from the 500m until entering the home straight. Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight and race greenly. GO DIAMONDS – Raced three wide with cover throughout. ROCK GARDEN – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Raced four wide without cover throughout. MAYBE MARKLE – Disappointed for a run leaving the 400m and was unable to obtain clear running until inside the 200m. FORTUNATE DECREE – Lost the near fore plate in running. RELIABLE LASS – As C. Franklin was ill, D. Smith was substituted as rider. Trainer J. Aitkenhead advised that from the wide barrier it would be the intention to have the mare ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Held up from the 400m until passing the 200m. Race 4: LALLEMAND ANIMAL NUTRITION C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M The start of this race was delayed to allow an interstate event to be completed. CATASTROPHIC – Raced four wide without cover. After racing in a forward position the horse commenced to weaken shortly after entering the home straight and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting an upper respiratory tract noise. Trainer C. Munce was advised that he will be required to provide the results of an endoscopic examination and a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again. MT PILATUS – Raced three wide with cover. PAY WITH CASH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Improved on to heels near the 500m and shifted out. MASTER BAYLEE – When asked to comment on the horse’s apparent improved performance, trainer J. Edwards stated that the horse had performed well in a recent jump-out and connections were expecting a forward showing tonight. He added that the horse had been supported by connections. Stewards accepted the explanation. VIBRANT THUNDER – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 600m when tightened for room between MT PILATUS and HARRY’S STAR, which laid in. Momentarily held up passing the 200m. PRICE ONA GOODTIME – After racing in a rearward position the horse failed to respond when asked for an effort upon straightening and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be showing symptoms consistent with a soft palate displacement. Trainer J. Gleeson was advised that he will be required to provide the results of an endoscopic examination and a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again. HARRY’S STAR – Trainer W. Bannerot was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice N. Fazackerley as rider by the prescribed time. Raced four wide with cover. Laid in near the 600m. DASHING OCEAN – Raced five wide without cover. TEMERITY – Raced three wide without cover. Race 5: GUIDE DOGS QUEENSLAND RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 H’CAP – 1200M THE REAL SPIEL – Raced three wide with cover. LET’S GO CHAMP – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels when the pace steadied near the 800m. ENTERPRISE ROSIE – Raced three wide with cover. MISS DEFIANCE – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied from heels when the pace steadied near the 800m. INDY BONBON – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up near the 200m. MAHRATTA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover. SAURIMO – Overraced in the early and middle stages. BLOOMIN’ ARRY – Raced three wide without cover. Race 6: CLAYTON’S TOWING F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M DON’T DOUBT LARA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey D. Browne stated the filly began fairly, however was reluctant to muster speed in the early stages and therefore settled further back than intended. He added the filly raced somewhat awkwardly in the early stages when in a trailing position and coming to the home turn, when attempting to shift out to improve, made contact with FOXARELLI and was slightly held up passing the 400m. D. Browne further stated that he elected to shift back inside those runners and the filly finished the race off quite well and in his opinion may even appreciate races further than that of today’s event. OH MONA – Rider R. Maloney reported that his mount felt awkward in its action behind. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that he will be required to provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again. FOXARELLI – Began awkwardly. M. Cahill accidentally dropped his whip at the 300m. Race 7: DAIL MALADY BIRTHDAY C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M GRUOSI – Following submissions from co-trainer S. Laxon that the horse be permitted to race with a tongue tie on as it had worked in this gear, stewards acceded to the request. A public announcement was made to this effect. Ms Laxon was advised that a fine of $200 would be imposed for failing to effect a gear change by the prescribed time. Forced three wide after passing the 900m and remained racing three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Connections will be advised that in light of today’s poor performance the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. THE CANDY MAN – Shifted out after passing the 900m to obtain a position outside the leader and in doing so forced GRUOSI three wide, where that runner remained racing three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. BABY MERLIN – Began to overrace when the pace steadied approaching the 1000m and raced fiercely for a considerable distance. ATOMIC MISSILE – Slow to begin.
