HansonStewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M DANDY IDEA – Slow to begin. STAMEN – Slow to begin. Had to be checked when the pace slackened after passing the 1000m and then commenced to overrace and hang out until approaching the 700m. L. Tarrant, the rider of STYLISH LOVER, was advised to exercise more care and be mindful of other runners when steadying the pace. GINGO – Raced three wide without cover. HONEST NATALIE – Slow to begin. MAY I SAY – Obliged to steady from heels after passing the 1000m when the pace slackened. R. Stewart reported that the horse was exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings, however, connections were advised that following the horse’s poor performance again today, it must trial satisfactorily and the results of an endoscopic examination must be produced prior to the horse’s next start. Race 2: PLATINUM ELECTRICIANS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1000M SECRET MO – D. Browne reported that the horse was unable to muster early speed and will benefit from a step up in distance. He added that carrying 60kg also had an impact on the horse’s performance. LA DOLCE VITA – After being fractious in the float en route to the track the horse required farrier attention, was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Raced wide without cover. MR STRACHAN – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. ESSAKA – Jumped awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover. OH BOY – Slow to begin. Race 3: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1600M KURUMBA – Trainer D. Forster advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Caught wide in the early stages before being ridden forward and assuming a position on the fence behind the lead.MAQUEREAU – R. Stewart reported that his mount raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: BATTERY WISE CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1800M MAGMELLOU – Returned to scale with its tongue over the bit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer J. McConachy indicated that the horse well be sent for a spell. THE BARRACUDA – Steadied from the heels of a weakening runner after passing the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CASINO GARDENS – Apprentice C. Gallagher dropped his whip leaving the 400m. Race 5: PELICAN MOTORS SERVICE CENTRE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M KING LUTHER, which dislodged M. McNab en route to the barriers and galloped a considerable distance before being recaptured, was declared a late scratching at 3:53 pm. Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners. OURLASTPENNY, which was fractious in the enclosure and en route to the barriers, underwent a veterinary inspection after arriving at the barriers, was found to be unfit to race and was declared a late scratching at 3:58 pm. Connections were advised that the horse must trial as a result of its pre-race manners. Trainer W. Bannerot indicated that the filly would now be sent for a spell. DARK ALLEY, which kicked out in the barriers, got its leg caught and sustained lacerations to the near hind leg, was declared a late scratching at 4:00 pm on veterinary advice. Connections were advised that a warning would be placid on the horse’s barrier manners. Stewart as rider by the prescribed time. Slow to begin. LUTECE – Failed to muster early speed. Commenced to overrace when the pace slackened leaving the 1000m and had to be checked off heels near the 900m. MISS SIZZ – Raced three wide with cover. STARLIGHTER – Raced four wide without cover. WINDERMERE – Raced three wide with cover. LADY RINGO – Stewards accepted trainer G. Doughty’s explanation for the late declaration of apprentice C. Bayliss as rider. Apprentice C. Bayliss was fined $200 for using the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the totality of whip use as well as apprentice Bayliss’ good record in relation to the whip rules. OURLASTPENNY – Trainer W. Bannerot was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice S. Lacy as rider by the prescribed time. ALTO HARMONY – Lost the off hind plate in running. Race 6: OAKS HOTELS AND RESORTS RQ SUMMER PROVINCIAL SERIES - HEAT - BM 75 – 1200M VICTORY EIGHT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. MR MARKOU – Raced three wide without cover. Inconvenienced and forced wiser by another runner near the 400m and bumped again with another runner near the 300m. BARNSLEY – Shifted out after being held up rounding the home turn and made heavy contact with another runner near the 400m. FEW TOO MANY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: GT PRINT CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M THE SOCIALIST – Steadied near the 900m when placed in restricted room. Overraced in the middle stages.
