Hanson Stewards Secretary – P. Carey ___________________________________ GENERAL Stewards inquired into the circumstances surrounding jockey M. McGillivray being found using a mobile phone in the vicinity of the scales’ area prior to the running of Race 4. It was established that jockey McGillivray was using his mobile phone to utilise an on-line games application in the jockeys’ room. Stewards took possession of the mobile phone and were satisfied that no phone calls or messages had occurred since jockey McGillivray’s arrival on course. Jockey M. McGillivray subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR160B(2), in that whilst engaged as a jockey today at the Sunshine Coast Turf Cub on 2 December did use his mobile phone in the vicinity of the scales area prior to the running of Race 4. Jockey McGillivray was fined $500. Jockey M. McGillivray also pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(gg) in that he did make a false statement to the Chairman of Stewards in regards to the use of his mobile phone prior to the running of Race 4. Jockey McGillivray was fined $1000. Race 1: Blake Machinery Group Pty Ltd Maiden Plate – 1800m MAGNETITE – Inconvenienced on jumping away and lost ground. CERTAIN DOUBT – Jockey R. Maloney reported it had not been his intention to lead, however after beginning well allowed the horse to stride forward without having to apply pressure. SAVVY ACQUISITION – Overraced in the early stages when the pace slackened. KARAS – Bumped with another runner on a number of occasions after passing the 400m. LANZOFFANY - Bumped with another runner on a number of occasions after passing the 400m. Race 2: Coastline BMW Class 5 Plate – 1400m LAVINGTON STAR – Slow to begin. CONSTANTINE – Slow to begin. Race 3: UBET Open H’cap – 1000m RAIDO – Restrained at the start to take up a position at the tail of the field. JADENTOM – Inconvenienced on jumping away. HARD STRIDE – Inconvenienced on jumping away. LUCKY METEOR – Raced wide without cover. IN HIS STRIDE – Apprentice C. Gallagher reported that, in his opinion, the horse did not finish the race off strongly as a result of the 59.5 kilogram impost. TYCOON ACE – Jockey N. Tomizawa was reprimanded for raising his whip hand above shoulder height. Race 4: Tensens QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m GALVARINO – Slow to begin. TOP ORDER – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout and was not competitive in the early and middle stages. Trainer K. Anderson was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners. MISS CAVALLO – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover. SAKE OF ONE – Laid in despite the efforts of its rider in the early stages of the event. MY BOY DRAGON – Raced greenly throughout and near the 700m shifted in and made contact with the running rail and lost ground. FLAME PRINCESS – Raced wide. CUBAN MINT – Raced greenly throughout. Race 5: Higgins Maiden H’cap - 1200m PEPPI LA FEW – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SHOWSCAY – Jumped away awkwardly, commenced to overrace near the 1000m and shifted wider to avoid heels. Raced 3 wide from that point onwards. BROOKER AVENUE – Placed in restricted room near the 1000m and made contact with the running rail. FILLYSOPHYCAL – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event. LIGHTNING HUSSLER – Tailed off. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s competitiveness at provincial meetings. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 6: Chaps Menswear Class 1 H’cap – 1400m FOXARELLI – Stood flatfooted at the start, losing significant ground, and as a result took no competitive part in the event. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the mare prior to its next race. NAKED – Slow to begin. When racing in restricted room had to be steadied approaching the 700m. MANDLAKAZI – Steadied from the heels of RIDGWAY after passing the 900m when that horse was steadied. RIDGWAY – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that, in his opinion, the horse did not appreciate today’s Good 3 racing surface. Trainer D. Vandyke advised stewards that following today’s event the horse would be sent for a spell. TOLAI MERI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to its next race start. Race 7: Office National Caloundra Class 1 H’cap - 1600m CROSSING THE TEE – Declared a late scratching at 2.56 pm on veterinary advice after the horse injured its near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to its next race start. PATRIOTIC ROSE – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that the horse did not travel comfortably throughout the event. Finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer D. Hansen advised that the horse would now be sent for a spell. IRON CRAFT – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. SHINNECOCK – Raced 3 wide in the early stages before obtaining the lead near the 1100m. SHEEZINAJAM – Laid in in the early stages of the home straight. GREYNOMAD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight, inconveniencing another runner near the 200m. BARNEY – Placed in restricted room near the 200m. ALL APOLOGIES - A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off hind canon on return to scale. Race 8: Hygain Class 1 H’cap – 1000m LONHRO MAGIC – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with another runner. BEZZINA – Bumped by another runner at the start and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. WOOKIEE – Obliged to race in restricted room from the 650m until approaching the 500m. Subsequently, jockey M. Du Plessis, rider of Star Stryker, was advised to exercise more care. GLITTER TOP – Obliged to race in restricted room from the 650m until approaching the 500m and was then steadied at that point. SIMPLY SO – Improved on to heels passing the 600m and had to be steadied. KOTA FLYER - Obliged to race in restricted room from the 650m until approaching the 500m.
