Maloney was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. __________________________________ Race 1: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Class 3 H’cap – 1600m DEEP BLUE SEA – Trainer M. Costa was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. CASINO GARDENS – Slow to begin. Race 2: Hot 91 Class 2 H’cap – 1000m INITIALIZE – The start was delayed when the horse broke through the front of the barriers and trotted a short distance. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field. WINTER PASSAGE – Slow to begin. In relation to the performance, jockey Browne indicated the horse became stirred up when INITIALIZE broke through the barriers prior to the start and as a result was slow to begin. He added the filly travelled comfortably in the middle stages but proved disappointing when asked for an effort in the home straight. DIRECT ACTION – A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which blundered near the 300m and then weakened in the home straight, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 3: Caloundra RSL QTIS 3yo CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1000m NOBLE ARTIST – Jumped awkwardly and made contact with another runner and as a result shifted out and had to be steadied from heels. Laid in badly under pressure from the 400m onwards, placing its rider at a disadvantage. BOLD ZIP – Bumped by another runner at the start and became awkward and was then ridden aggressively in order to take up a position outside the lead near the 500m. LEROYTHECONQUEROR – Had some difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn. Race 4: Parklands Tavern CG&E Maiden Plate – 1200m PEPPI LA FEW – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced on jumping away. Improved onto heels near the 900m and shifted out as a result. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. OCEAN WAVES – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout and laid in under pressure in the home straight. IADOREYOU – Inconvenienced by another runner and had to be steadied near the 900m. Raced greenly in the middle stages and shifted out under pressure in the home straight. CASH ON FIRE – Eased when racing in restricted room over the concluding stages. BENNO FIRST – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten. ACEME – Raced wide without cover. RINGO’S MAGIC – Raced wide. Race 5: Butler McDermott Lawyers F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m Correct weight was significantly delayed when Mr P. Butterworth, trainer of the declared 2nd placegetter, NORTHERN DRAGON, and jockey L. Cassidy wished to dispute the Judge’s decision in declaring RELIABLE LASS as the winner. After taking evidence from Judge Mr P. Chilton and viewing the available photo-finish images, stewards, acting under AR156, were satisfied with the Judge’s decision and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers. BONNEY LORES – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Improved on to heels near the 600m and had to be steadied before shifting wider on the track. NORMA MAY – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover after overracing in the early stages. LOVE’S BEST HOPE – Slow to begin. NORTHERN DRAGON - Overraced when restrained passing the 850m. RELIABLE LASS – Held up for clear running from the 600m until leaving the 300m. JELLICOE ROAD – Awkwardly placed at heels near the 500m and had to be steadied. BIT OF ALRIGHT – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn and when shifted out to secure clear running near the 300m made contact with another runner. KURU LASS – Bumped by another runner near the 300m. Race 6: Oaks Hotels & Resorts CG&E Ratings Band 0-62 H’cap – 1400m The start of this race was delayed due to a significant delay with correct weight in the previous event. SAURIMO – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position tonight. Subsequently was ridden in the lead and overraced in the early stages. TYCOON FLUTTER – Slow to begin. Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be checked. KEEP ON ROCKING – Slow to begin. RATIONALE – Tightened for room and inconvenienced on jumping away. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight. COASTAL BOY – Overraced passing the 1000m. LIMESTONE COWBOY – Overraced in the early stages. Race 7: Iron Jack F&M Ratings 0-62 H’cap – 1400m READY SET BOOM – Trainer P. Butterworth was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Bumped shortly after the start. DON’T DOUBT LARA – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained prior to its next race start. Shifted out abruptly near the 300m in an attempt to secure clear running. DREAM SERENADE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, contacting another runner. TIME TO SAIL – Slow to begin. DEVILLAIN – Laid out rounding the home turn. INDY SHOWGIRL – Raced 3 wide without cover.
