Race 1: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Class 4 H’cap – 1200m
 
EXCEEDINGLY – A prerace veterinary examination of the horse, which was fractious in its float en route to the track, revealed superficial lacerations to both hind legs. The gelding was subsequently cleared to start.  
 
PRINCE MANITOU – Slow to begin.
 
MADLUCE MISSILE – Near the 350m shifted out and bumped MR STRACHAN.  Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
MR STRACHAN – Bumped near the 350m and became unbalanced.
 
SKY LAKE – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, jockey R. Stewart stated despite early pressure the mare failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
 
Race 2: Furphy Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
HARRY’S STAR – Struck the rail behind the barriers was examined by the veterinary  surgeon and cleared to start.
 
MISTA MAYBE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced badly in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROCK TSAR – After being a little slow to begin, was hampered soon after the start when bumped by MISTA MAYBE.
 
INKBLOT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 3.
 
 
Race 3: Caloundra RSL F&M H’cap – 1000m
 
MELD KILPATRICK – Declared a late scratching at 3.28 pm on veterinary advice after rearing up in the barriers, making heavy contact with jockey J. Orman. The horse was subsequently withdrawn on veterinary advice at 3.28 pm with the following deductions applicable.  Trainer M. Eggleston was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.

3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
6 cents in the dollar on the face value 3rd place bets
 
Jockey J. Orman was examined by the doctor following the race and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
ALL DREAMS – Slow to begin and then could not muster speed in the early stages.
 
MONASHEE MUSIC – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Near the 200m had to be eased when tightened for room between MASSABIELLE and HINTERLAND SAM, which shifted out when not fully clear before being corrected by its rider. Jockey T. Harrison, rider of HINTERLAND SAM, was cautioned and reminded of her obligations to keep her mounts on a straight course in the home straight.
 
MASSABIELLE – Apprentice S. Lacy reported at scale her mount as inclined to lay out throughout the event when racing 3 wide without cover.
 
 
Race 4: Coastline BMW Class 2 H’cap – 1600m
 
PIERRE BIZEL – Change of tactics – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field with cover. The gelding  was ridden accordingly.
 
TIME TO SAIL – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained prior to its next race start.
 
NEVER IN DOUBT – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: Happy 70th Gerry Guppy F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
READY FOR LOVE – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
ANGEL DANE – Slow to begin.
 
INDY SHOWGIRL – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up over the final stages when awkwardly placed at the heels of READY FOR LOVE.
 
DRUMADOIR – Had to be steadied from the heels of ANGEL DANE, which shifted in over the final 50m when not fully clear.  Jockey  G. Geran, rider of ANGEL DANE, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground in future. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MORE THAN DUE – Hampered near the 50m.
 
JUSTDINI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  Trainer K Schweida was advised that he must supply a veterinary certificate together with the results of an ECG and the filly must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 6: Access Insulation CG&E Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
JULE’S SPIRIT – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a rearward position with cover. Subsequently the gelding raced midfield in a 3-wide position without cover.
 
I DREAM OF GREEN – Pulled hard in the  early stages.
 
ASCOT BOUND – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, bumping BEZZINA, then shifted out and made contact with COACH.   Near the 1000m made heavy contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.
 
COACH – Slow to begin and then was hampered shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 7: Oaks Hotels & Resorts Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1400m
 
TYCON FLUTTER – As B. Pengelly was not riding at today’s meeting, D. Browne was substituted as the rider of the horse.  Held up in the early part of the home straight until approaching the 200m.
 
KOPELLA – Restrained from a wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
KOTA FLYER – Held up in the early part of the home straight and near the 350m made heavy contact with GET ON.
 
GET ON – Became unbalanced when bumped by KOTA FLYER near the 350m.
 
CANNY EXCEL – Held up in the early part of the home straight.  Bled from the off-side nostril.
