From Ipswich Turf Club meeting, 24.1.19

Jockey J. Byrne pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride UNCONDITIONAL right out to the finish of the race and was fined the sum of $300m.

Race 1: Coastline BMW 3 Series Class 3 Plate – 1600m

SALT FLAT – Trainer S. Kurz was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages when the pace slackened.

LE JUGE – Overraced when the pace slackened during the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn for a short distance.

PIERRE BIZEL – In the early stages of the home straight obliged to alter course to secure clear running.

VOLOMITE – Raced wide without cover.

NOSSUH – Raced 3 wide.

GUN BOLT – Raced 3 wide.
Race 2: Coastline BMW X4 Open H’cap – 2400m

FIRST STIMULUS – Slow to begin.

SHAKOPEE – Overraced badly in the early stages before being obliged to shift wider on the track near the 1400m to avoid heels and remained in a 3-wide position without cover.

CAPITAL GAIN – Raced wide form the 1200m whilst improving its position.

OUTRAGED – Raced wide from the 900m.

I FEEL GOOD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

FOLLOW SUIT – Jockey R. Fradd was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 3: Coastline BMW 8 Series 2yo Classic Plate – 1200m

RAAY OF DREAMS – As R. Maloney was to be overweight, J. Byrne was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey Maloney was fined $200.

ROYALIST – Had some difficulty securing clear running for a short distance passing the 300m.

VIENNA SPIRIT – Bumped by another runner near the 150m and became awkward.

MOSSHIKI - Bumped by another runner near the 150m and became awkward.

STAMPE – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Lost its near fore plate in running.

COMOGLI – Raced 3 wide without cover.


Race 4: Coastline BMW X5 QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1600m

RED STINA – Slow to begin. Improved on to the heels of a tiring runner near the 350m, clipping heels and blundering badly and lost significant ground, almost dislodging its rider.

RICHEST – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Steadied to avoid heels near the 350m. Raced wide.

ADORADIVA – Fractious in the barriers. Trainer B. Lockwood was advised that a further barrier certificate must be provided prior to its next race start.

MYOLA MILLY – Overraced in the early stages.

MYSTIC BOOK – Inconvenienced by another runner near the 300m.

PLITVICE – Inconvenienced by another runner near the 300m. Raced wide without cover.

DAWSON DIVA – Altered course near the 300m to secure clear running and inconvenienced other runners to the outside. Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of DAWSON DIVA, was issued with a reprimand.


Race 5: Coastline BMW X7 QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1000m

INVIGORATING – Slow to begin.

MASSABIELLE – Slow to begin. Overraced at heels near the 850m, then raced greenly until entering the home straight.

ENTERPRISE GRAND – Tightened for room near the 500m and had to be steadied. Again placed in restricted room near the 300m and lost ground.

LADY MCCABE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and made contact with the running rail.

DEFENCE MISSILE – Raced wide without cover.

Race 6: Coastline BMW M Sport Open H'cap – 1000m

TUMBLER – Slow to begin.

BASARA – Kicked out and made contact with the enclosure fence and was then inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to take its place in the field. Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 3.

Race 7: Coastline BMW M2 Competition Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1200m

WINDS OF CHANGE – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden back in the field from the wide barrier. The horse was ridden accordingly. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off-side cheek.

STAR ROCK – Slow to begin. Overraced and was restrained from heels near the 900m.

CONQUERING LASS – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to position outside the lead leaving the 800m.

DIVINE SERVICE – Jumped awkwardly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Overraced approaching the 900m and was restrained from heels.

REAL EGO – Placed in restricted room and became awkward near the 300m.

LIMERICK MOON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 8: Coastline BMW Sunshine Coast Cup – 1400m

CANTBUYBETTER – Lunged forward and made contact with the barriers just as the start was effected and as a result lost ground. Overraced in the early stages and was restrained from heels near the 900m. Forced wider near the 700m and again approaching the 600m was obliged to steady when placed in restricted room at the 600m.

PEACOCK – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 800m.

GAULOIS – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance after passing the 1200m.

MR MARKOU - Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance after passing the 1200m. Held up rounding the home turn.

SHOGUN SUN – Overraced in the early stages and shifted wider to avoid heels and raced wide from the 900m onwards.

SPECTROSCOPE – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn and inconvenienced near the 300m and had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 200m.

FIT FOR PURPOSE – Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 300m.

SOVEREIGN NATION – Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 300m.

SIR BACCHUS – Held up from the 500m until leaving the 200m.

ASTORIA – Raced wide without cover.

BALBOA ROCKS – When questioned regarding the improved performance today, trainer Mr D. Hansen stated the gelding has a good second-up record and had expected improvement today. He also added the horse performed well over this distance at its previous starts.

MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be short in its action in both forelegs. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

Race 9: Coastline BMW Z4 No Metro Wins H‘cap – 1400m

UNIQUE MAGIC – Slow to begin.

CORAL BAY – Slow to begin.

DAPPER ONE – Slow to begin.

MEWSTONE ROCK – Improved onto heels passing the 400m and remained held up and unable to improve until leaving the 200m.

CABEIRIAN – Overraced when being restrained to obtain cover from passing the 1000m until approaching the 800m. Jockey R Wiggins was fined the sum of $300 for weighing in half a kilogram over the permitted amount.

LULU EXPRESS – Held up from the home turn until the 200m, and again had difficulty securing clearing over the final 100m.

SO INVINCIBLE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame behind. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

ROTHABYE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
