Race 1: ALLCHIN AIRCONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
 
IMAY SHOUT – Returned to scale suffering from heat stress. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the mare would be freshened up prior to its next start.
 
ESOR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, which revealed a minor abrasion to the back of the off foreleg, and was cleared to race. Slow to begin.
 
SMOKIN’ HUSSAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: GILLETT ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M
 
I AM LEXUS – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
SOLTINHO LAD – Slow to begin. Laid out for the majority of the event.
 
DUELLATOR – Overraced and was wide throughout.
 
FLIP DE GLOIRE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 3: KABOOM CONCRETE PUMPING PTY LTD FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M
 
SMARTYPY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was cleared to take its place in the field. Laid in for the majority of the event. R. Stewart reported to stewards that he was disappointed with the horse’s performance, however could offer no explanation.
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Tightened for room near the 200m whilst weakening and was steadied.
 
Race 4: MCGRATH BUDERIM & MOOLOOLABA COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
Trainer T. Thomas was fined $100 for failing to declare N. Thomas as the rider of ALLOFIT by the prescribed time.
 
When released on to the course proper, SATURN OPS ran into the inside running rail and dislodged its rider R. Fradd. After it had galloped a significant distance, stewards declared the horse a late scratching at 3:05 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SATURN OPS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:05 pm:
 
16 cents in the dollar for the win #5
11 cents in the dollar for place of winner #5
18 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #13
17 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
A post-race veterinary examination of SATURN OPS revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Ross was advised that the horse must trial prior to racing again.
 
GLAM ROCK – Made contact with the running rail near the 750m and became unbalanced.
 
LUCKY AL – Bumped by another runner shortly after jumping.
 
MOSKOGEE – Raced wide without cover.
 
HEART VANDELAY – Raced wide without cover.
 
FORENSIC AUDITOR – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
POET LAD – Jumped very awkwardly, made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost ground. Overraced after passing the 600m and blundered near the 550m.
 
KUZIZZLE – Finished a distant last. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that the gelding would be ineligible to compete at TAB venues until its form improves.
 
REAL MACHINE – Reared high at the start was effected and lost ground.
 
Race 5: SOUTHERN CROSS SHEDS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1600M
 
As G. Colless was not riding due to illness, M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of BON COURAGE.
 
SMOKEY DIAMOND – Steadied when tightened for room near the 300m.
 
BON COURAGE – Laid out under pressure in the straight whilst weakening, causing its rider to stop riding near the 300m. Trainer K. Best reported to stewards that post-race the gelding was short in its action in the near hind leg. Ms Best was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.
 
MEYIWA HITAM MAWAR – Jumped away very awkwardly, made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
 
MAGLEV – Slow to begin and lost significant ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten near the 300m.
 
RAINS APLENTY – When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer T. Hurley indicated that he was not disappointed with the horse’s last start, adding that the horse finished the race off well and the rider had recommended stepping the horse up over more ground and with the step up in distance in today’s event he expected a more forward showing.
 
ROCK DANCER – Jumped away very awkwardly, made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
 
DEE CEE DELIGHTS – Steadied when tightened for room near the 300m.
 
Race 6: MASK EVENTS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD CLASS 2 H’CAP –1200M
 
MIOCIC – After commencing to overrace when the pace slackened near the 900m the gelding was severely checked from the heels of ZEPHETTO, which was being restrained to obtain cover. L. Tilley, the rider of ZEPHETTO, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances when steadying the pace. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal action in the off hind leg. Co-trainer B. Guy was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.
 
MISHANI VALENTINO – Raced three wide without cover.
 
SURFACE TO SURFACE – Tightened for room on jumping away.
 
THE BLACK TIDE – Slow to begin. Performed poorly. A post-race veterinary examination found the horse was showing signs of coming into season, however no other significant abnormalities were detected. Connections advised stewards that they will consider sending the horse for a spell. Trainer S. O’Dea’s representative was advised that the horse must trial prior to racing again.
 
ALLE VONGOLE – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Race 7: THE BRANDING OFFICE CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M
 
SIR BARNABUS – Overraced in the early stages when the pace slackened.
 
WINE BARREL – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 100m when placed in restricted room.
 
LE MATTAN – Steadied near the 450m when placed in restricted room.
 
RED MAKO – Laid in for the majority of the event. Obliged to steady near the 750m to avoid the heels of AANVOERDER, which shifted out. Apprentice C. Gallagher, the rider of AANVOERDER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Steadied near the 150m to avoid the heels of LE MATTAN, which shifted out. M. Hellyer, the rider of LE MATTAN, was reprimanded for this incident.
 
WHODUNNIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
SAIL THE STARS – Slow to begin. Hampered and had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 1200m. Inconvenienced near the 100m when placed in restricted room.
