Supplementary Report – From SCTC, Race 7, 17.2.19

Stewards today concluded an adjourned inquiry into the circumstances surrounding NOT TONIGHT DEAR falling near the 600m in this event. Stewards today took further evidence from the fallen rider, A. Sewell, apprentice T. Williams (LOTS OF PROMISE), M. Du Plessis (MOSAQUA) and master of T. Williams Mr M. Mair. After considering the evidence tabled and reviewing the stewards’ footage, stewards found that at a point approaching the 600m LOTS OF PROMISE shifted in across the line of MOSAQUA, resulting in MOSAQUA, which was overracing, shifting out slightly to avoid that horse’s heels.  This resulted in NOT TONIGHT DEAR, which was racing to the outside and laying in, clipping the heels of MOSAQUA and blundering.  In the circumstances, stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider as, in their opinion, the racing manners of MOSAQUA and NOT TONIGHT DEAR had contributed to this incident.
