TOBACCO ROAD – Inconvenienced by the riderless TUCANO after passing the 1200m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had a poor post-race recovery.

TUCANO – Jumped away awkwardly, causing its rider to become unbalanced. The horse then made contact with another runner which resulted in the horse stepping sideways. This caused jockey R. Maloney to be dislodged and fall shortly after the start. Jockey Maloney was examined by the Club doctor, who also reviewed the race footage and was satisfied that no further medical review was required of jockey Maloney. Stewards also ruled that the horse had been afforded a fair start and declared the horse a runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had sustained minor abrasions to the hind legs.

IRON DUKE – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Overraced in the early stages.
