QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB, SUNDAY, 21 APRIL 2-19 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – HEAVY 8/SOFT 7 AFTER RACE 6 RAIL – 2M PENETROMETER – 6.94 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Hanson Stewards Secretary – P. Carey ___________________________________ Race 1: Sunshine Coast Rugby League Centenary Raceday Maiden H‘cap – 1000m FAST AND HOPEFUL - Jumped away awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey P. Hammersley indicated he felt the filly may be short in its front action. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer T. Hurley was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for FAST AND HOPEFUL prior to its next race start. LADY CASUARINA – Jumped away awkwardly. BETTER THAN GROOVY – Steadied to avoid heels near the 900m. RICHETTI – Jockey M. Hellyer advised it had not been his intention to lead in today’s event, however after the horse began well he was able to race forward after electing to allow the gelding to stride to the lead passing the 700m. Race 2: Allcoast Tyre & Mechanical Solutions Benchmark 75 H‘cap – 1800m BROCSON – Slow to begin. When the pace slackened after passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and shifted to a 3 wide position to avoid heels, racing wide with cover from that point onwards. TUCANO – Placed in restricted room passing the 1600m. Trainer T. Haydon was asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance. He indicated, in his opinion, the horse appreciates softer racing surfaces and stated he was not entirely disappointed with the horse’s last start performance as the horse was competitive until weakening over the final 200m and had expected a forward showing in today’s event. FOXY AFFAIR – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden midfield if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. When the pace slackened after passing the 1200m commenced to overrace and shifted to a 3-wide position to avoid heels and raced without cover for the remainder of the event. Whilst laying out under pressure in the home straight shifted out to the heels of BROCSON and had to be steadied over the concluding stages. FAIRLIGHTING – When the pace slackened after passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and shifted to a 3 wide position near the 800m and raced wide with cover from that point onwards. Race 3: SCJRL Sherrin Rentals Maiden H‘cap – 1400m FROM NOW – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making heavy contact with another runner. MOUNT DUMARESQ – Tightened for room on jumping away when bumped by another runner. Raced 3 wide without cover. STRAWBERRY BLONDE - Tightened for room on jumping away when bumped by another runner. COUNTESS NATALIE - Tightened for room on jumping away when bumped by another runner. Raced 4 wide without cover. NIGHT WHISPER - Tightened for room on jumping away when bumped by another runner. Overraced when the pace slackened and was checked from heels after passing the 900m and shifted in, making contact with the running rail. Placed in restricted room near the 350m and was steadied. LITTLE BEE – Shortly after the start, hampered on heels of another runner and blundered, losing significant ground, almost dislodging its rider. NINE CIGARS – As a result of the pace slackening after passing the 1200m commenced to overrace and was checked from heels near the 1000m. Steadied after passing the 500m when awkwardly placed at the heels of a tiring runner. THE GOLDEN HIND – Checked from heels after passing the 1000m when the pace slackened. LUTECE – Checked from heels near the 900m. EURO ROCKSTAR – Raced wide. ROSE OF CASTILE – Raced wide. MANDUKHAI - A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. Race 4: Maudsley Excavations QTIS 3yo Class 3 Plate – 1400m MYWIFESAIDNO – Jumped away very awkwardly and made heavy contact with TROOPER KELLY and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. TROOPER KELLY – Bumped at the star and became very awkward and shifted out, making contact with ENTERPRISE JACK and lost ground. ENTERPRISE JACK – Bumped heavily on jumping away and became unbalanced, causing its rider to almost be dislodged and lose ground. NICHOLAS – Jumped awkwardly and was further hampered by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey Cassidy reported it had been his intention to ride in a more forward position, however after suffering interference at the start he was obliged to settle at the tail of the field. LET’S GO BOBBY – Overraced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. TOO HOT TO HOLD – Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 100m. Race 5: SCGRL Vantage Homes Qld Class 3 Plate – 1000m TRU BLUE TANGO – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Jockey D. Griffin reported that, in his opinion, the horse failed to handle the rain affected conditions as it did not travel comfortably at any stage. Placed in restricted room near the 350m and was steadied. Heavily bumped near the 250m and became unbalanced. MILITARY FORCES – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin. DREAMSCOPE – Jumped away awkwardly and was then bumped by another runner and lost ground. Disappointed for a run near the 300m and shifted back to the inside in an attempt to secure clear running, and at a point near the 250m made heavy contact with TRU BLUE TANGO , causing that horse to become unbalanced. As a result of this shift, jockey S. Cormack, rider of DREAMSCOPE, was reprimanded. PAT KASH – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide. SHE’S A MITZY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground before being placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Laid in throughout the event, particularly over the concluding stages. Raced wide without cover. Race 6: QLD Safe Access Solutions Open H’cap – 1000m TOP TONE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. PUBLISHING POWER – Slow go begin. Raced wide. DAM WONDERFUL – Shifted in on jumping away, inconveniencing another runner. RISING KING – Tightened for room on jumping away and had to be checked. BOOMWAA – Blundered approaching the 500m. I AM THE GENERAL – Placed in restricted room approaching the 400m. Race 7: SCRGL Referees Association Class 1 H‘cap – 1300m I’M JUST PINK – Declared a late scratching at 4.12 pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable: 1st – Red Balter - 0 cents in the dollar for the win 3 cents in the dollar for place bets for the win2nd – Staying Black - 2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place bets3rd – Flower of Love - 0 cents in the dollar for 3rd place bets Connections were advised that a further barrier certificate for the mare must be produced prior to its next race start. TOP GLAMOUR – Slow to begin. ELMO’S FIRE – Tightened for room on jumping away. Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 500m. STAYING BLACK – Jumped away awkwardly, inconveniencing another runner. Overraced in the early and middle stages when the place slackened. VENI VIDI VICI – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover. RED BALTER – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition. Overraced when being steadied to obtain cover in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. TOLEMAC – Obliged to steady when the pace slackened passing the 1000m and continued to restrain from heels until leaving the 600m before being held up for clear running until passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the straight. LADY EIGHTY EIGHT – Raced 3 wide from the 800m. HEART OF TOORAK – Raced wide from the 800m. Race 8: SCRL Life Members & Hall Of Fame Class 1 H’ cap – 1600m QUEEN CONSORT – Trainer T. Hurley was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Raced 4 wide without cover in the early and middle stages. WILLY BE LUCKY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. MIGHTY HEART – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding the horse being ridden in a forward position today which was in contrast to its usual racing pattern, jockey R. Faehr indicated in the early stages that the horse commenced to overrace and he elected to stride forward whilst being positioned wide on the track and assumed the lead passing the 1200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. LOVES A LOTTERY – Placed in restricted room in the early stages and had to be steadied. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CLOWN IN THE MOON – Jockey N. Thomas reported his mount overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. BILL THE CONQUEROR – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Race 9: Ray White Ascot Princess Stakes – 3yo Fillies – 1600m TATCEE – Due to this race being transferred from yesterday, jockey J. Lloyd was unable to fulfil this engagement and J. Orman was substituted as the rider. Jockey J. Orman reported to stewards after travelling well throughout his mount did not quicken when asked for a response as anticipated, however did still finish the race off fairly. He indicated that the horse would appreciate a further step up in distance. MYSTIC MIST - Due to this race being transferred from yesterday, jockey J. Guthman-Chester was not riding today and J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of the horse . Raced wide throughout. BACCARAT BABY – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Jumped away awkwardly and bumped another runner. THINK FREE – Tightened for room on jumping away. Jockey R. Stewart reported it was not his intention to lead, however after being interfered with at the start the horse overraced and he was obliged to press forward to the lead. LIGHT UP THE ROOM – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground. Approaching the 300m shifted in to obtain clear running and made contact with another runner. BAREFOOT – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. Bumped and obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 300m. TIPONI – After being loaded into the barriers kicked the near-hind leg through the back gates, was removed from the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced approaching the 300m when inclined to lay out under pressure. CEOL NA MARA – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. When being restrained to obtain cover after passing the 1200m was then obliged to race in restricted room near the 1100 and was steadied. Jockey M. Hellyer, rider of BACCARAT BABY, was reprimanded for this incident. DAWSON DIVA – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 800m. SHAHZADE – Raced wide without cover.
