Race 1: CMBM Services Gold Coast CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1000m

HARRY’S STAR – After having competed at Kilcoy on 2 May, stewards ordered that the horse be inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to racing. This examination was carried and the horse was cleared to take its place in the field. Trainer W. Bannerot was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.

DURUNDUR LAD – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground Then raced wide without cover.

Race 2: CMBM Facility Services Toowoomba F&M Maiden H’cap – 1000m

SHE’S WHITTIE – Declared a late scratching at 3.50 pm after the horse was injured in its race day stall.

SINGLE LASS – Declared a late scratching at 4.18 pm on veterinary advice after the horse had arrived at the barriers and concerns were raised by the rider regarding the horse’s hind leg action.  All monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

0 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets

Connections will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

MADAM MAHAL – Jumped away very awkwardly, inconveniencing another runner. Trainer B. Healy was advised that due to this, along with the poor pre-race manners, the mare must officially trial prior to its next race start. The near-side winker became displaced during the race.

Race 3: CMBM Facility Services Sunshine Coast Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1800m

INVERARAY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

JUSTDINI – Slow to begin.  Overraced when the pace slackened in the early stages and as a result shifted wider on the track at the 1100m for a short distance.

UBER MOVER – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1700m.

IRON DUKE – Held up for clear running from passing the 500m until leaving the 300m. When questioned regarding her riding of the horse, which settled at the tail of the field which was in contrast to the horse’s most recent start when permitted to lead, jockey T. Harrison stated she had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position, however not to lead by any great margin as the horse has been ridden in this fashion at recent starts and not finished its races off.   She stated in the early stages she elected to allow TOBACCO ROAD to cross her mount as she felt that that horse would maintain a good tempo and this would result in her settling behind the lead. However passing the 1600m she became aware TOBACCO ROAD was steadying the pace and this caused her to settle further back in the field than she had intended.  She added the horse, in her opinion, performed well today due to the addition of a tongue-tie. Stewards also questioned trainer Mr R. Wilson, who agreed with the comments of jockey Harrison, adding that the horse had responded to the addition of a tongue-tie during track work, and whilst he had not expected the horse to race as far back in the field as it was in today’s event, he would be instructing riders to obtain cover on the horse in future.

Race 4: CMBM Facility Services Central Qld Class 4 H’cap – 1400m

PIERRE BIZEL – Slow to begin.

THE PERPETRATOR – Slow to begin.

Race 5: CMBM Facility Services Cairns QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m

JAMI LADY – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner.

ENTERPRISE LOUISE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

ROTHMAN - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

COSSIE – Inconvenienced  passing the 400m and forced wider. Raced 3 wide without cover.

CONQUERMORE – Steadied approaching the 800m when placed in restricted room. Whilst attempting to shift out to secure clear running made contact with another runner and was hampered before being disappointed for a run leaving the 400m, and was obliged to shift back to the inside.

MISS SIZZ – Held up rounding the home turn and then laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MASTER BAYLEE – A post race veterinary examination  of the horse, which pulled up quickly after the winning post, revealed the horse to be lame in in the near hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

Race 6: CMBM Facility Services Class 1 H’cap – 1200m

LOVE BITES – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field as the horse did not finish off well when ridden forward last start. The horse was ridden accordingly.  Slow to begin.

RAISE AN ARMY – Slow to begin. Held up from the 450m until approaching the 300m.

I’M JUST PINK – Slow to begin.

GEE TEE TEE – Had difficulty securing clear running and improved onto the heels of the weakening WEBOUGHTAZOU and had to be checked near the 300m.

WEBOUGHTAZOU – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey M. Cahill indicated that at no stage did he feel the horse travelled comfortably in the rain affected conditions, and this was the only tangible explanation  he could offer for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with trainer D. VanDyke in the coming days in regards to the horse’s performance.

Race 7: CMBM Building Service Qld Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1000m

RAIDEN – Slow to begin.

MR STRACHAN – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped and forced wider approaching the 400m. When asked to comment on the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey R. Wiggins indicated from the wide alley he was caught wide in the event and was of the opinion that this and carrying 59.5 kilograms on a rain-affected track were factors that had an overall detrimental effect on the performance. A post race veterinary failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

MUDDY ROPE – Bumped and forced wider approaching the 400m. Raced wide without cover.

TREASURE GALLERY – Held up rounding the home turn and obliged to alter course to secure clear running after passing the 200m.
