QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB, WEDNESDAY, 15 MAY 2019 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – HEAVY 8/HEAVY 9 AT 4.20 PM RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. HansonStewards Secretary – P. Carey _________________________________ Race 1: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Maiden H’cap – 1600m AUSFALL – Slow to begin. WICKED HEIGHTS – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Raced wide in the early stages whilst overracing before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1000m. GOOD TIME GIRL – Bumped by another runner on jumping away and lost ground as a result. When asked to comment on the performance of the filly, jockey M. Du Plessis indicated his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage in the rain affected conditions. Stable representative agreed with the comments of jockey Du Plessis in that the horse did not handle today’s track conditions, however also advised the horse’s current preparation would be reviewed with the owners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. THE INVESTIGATOR – Overraced in the middle stages and improved onto heels near the 850m and had to be steadied. MIZ MACEY – Placed in restricted room near the 850m. Race 2: TAB QTIS 3yo H’cap – 2200m SID – Change of tactics – To be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Jumped away awkwardly. SEARING SPEED – Slow to begin. After passing the 400m commenced to lay out and was then obliged to steady from the heels of INTRIGUE, which shifted in. Race 3: Butler McDermott Lawyers Maiden Plate – 1000m POWER FROM WITHIN – A pre-race veterinary examination of the horse, which raced on Sunday, 12 May, cleared the mare to start. Blundered near the 500m. INVINCIBLE FAITH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. CARRERA TO THE MAX – Jockey L. Innes reported his mount raced very greenly under pressure in the home straight. Jumped very awkwardly, made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost significant ground. LORRIMER – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Andrew Spinks indicated the horse did not travel comfortably at any stage in the rain-affected conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 4: Access Insulation QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m WELL PREPARED – Due to personal reasons apprentice B. Northdurft was not riding at today’s meeting and was replaced by apprentice C. Gallagher. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. BOLD EXPECTATIONS - As jockey R. Wiggins’ arrival on course was delayed due to transport difficulties, jockey M. Du Plessis was substituted as the rider of the filly. Jumped away awkwardly. CLEVER MISS – Slow to begin. Jockey L. Tarrant lost the use of his off-side rein over the concluding stages when changing his whip into his right hand. BUTTON PUSHER – Jumped away awkwardly. READY TO ROAM – Forced wider after passing the 600m and again approaching the 400m. AROSEFORZOU – Whilst racing greenly approaching the 500m was placed in restricted room and had to be steadied. MAGIC DESERT MOON – Blundered near the 500m. RAMBLIN’ MAN – Raced wide without cover. NEPTUNE’S SPEAR – Raced extremely wide without cover.Race 5: Parklands Tavern Class 3 H’cap – 1800m SPANISH HURRICANE – Change of tactics. Connections advised the horse would be ridden in a more forward position to lead if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. SHE SALUTES – Slow to begin. GALWAY – Slow to begin. CURRUMBIN CRAFT – Slow to begin. SENRIMA TIDE – When attempting to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight made contact with TOBACCO ROAD. TOBACCO ROAD – Bumped in the early stages of the home straight. Raced 3 wide without cover. PROUD CAPTAIN – Jockey B. Shinn lost his whip near the 100m. Race 6: Hot 91.1 Ladies Oaks Day – 31 May Class 5 Plate – 1400m CLAIRVUE DIAMOND – Trainer S. Kendrick was reprimanded for presenting the horse with incorrect gear. Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount travelled well until the home turn and was very disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S. Kendrick confirmed his disappointment in the performance, and indicated he would have an endoscopic examination performed in the coming days the results of which he would report back to stewards. He also indicated he would discuss the horse’s immediate racing future with connections. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. PRIVATE HERO – Slow to begin. TOTALLY CHARMED – Overraced in the early stages when attempting to secure clear running, and then when the pace slackened approaching the 1000m had to be checked from heels. Blundered approaching the 500m. Stewards asked apprentice J. Murphy to comment on the performance of the gelding. He stated he had been instructed to obtain cover and when attempting to do so in the early stages the horse raced very ungenerously and overraced. He stated this may have had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. He also added the horse, in his opinion, was not entirely comfortable in the rain-affected conditions and blundered noticeably when approaching the home turn, and the horse, in his opinion, finished the race off only fairly. Lost its off fore plate in running. CONSTANTINE – Overraced when restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. NORDIC SHOW – Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 7: Become A SCTC Member Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1200m FLAMIN’ MOGUL – Reared as the start was effected and struck its head heavily on the cross-bar of the barriers and then took no competitive part in the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a fracture to the forehead and bruising to the off-side shoulder. Trainer G. Duncan was advised that a barrier certificate and veterinary certificate must be obtained prior to the horse’s next race start. ZOU DER ZEE – Slow to begin. After being held up passing the 400m, attempted to secure a tight run approaching the 300m and was disappointed and as a result had to be checked before shifting wider on the track to secure clear running. KING RAGNAR – Slow to begin. ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Slow to begin. Race 8: Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1000m Prior to the running of this race the track rating was downgraded to Heavy 9 at 4.20 pm. GALIANNO HOT SHOT - Jockey L. Tilley was examined by the doctor and stood down from his engagement and was replaced by L. Tarrant. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MOONAN JOYCE – Jumped away awkwardly. LOVE SQUIRRELS – Jumped awkwardly before being tightened for room and losing ground at the start. Placed in restricted room approaching the 600m and was steadied. Blundered near the 500m. Obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running. UNCONDITIONAL – Raced awkwardly when placed in restricted room near the 500m. PLUMARO – Raced wide throughout.
